Chapter 29 - Hurricane William

In just a matter of seconds, several claws landed against the mud-coated grass. Everything happened too fast, the other team needed a few more seconds to catch up with what happened.

That big albino owl helped them acknowledge the odds of this situation, once it shouted out a firm, deep-toned demand. Rage was evident in its expression.

"Face doom you thief snakes! Come to us!" The white bird said.

"Who the heck are those?" Hakoon broke the nervous tension.

"Ancient owls or whatever. They want that treasure you found." William answered.

As confusion struck the general, he asked. "Blue-spines stole this, why do they think that we're the thieves?"

"Because they're dumb as shit!" The younger one expressed.

Quite fearlessly, Hakoon decided. "Then I'll slap some sense into them."

Without any hesitation whatsoever, he marched towards the exit and charged at the beast which blocked their path!

Under a blink, the buff general leaped after the enemy and tried to land a right punch. He didn't even bother to pull out any weaponry!

Yet contrary to what was expected and craved, that right swing did not land. The albino owl used its human-like arms to halt such an offensive attack!

"My strength come from ancestor, snake. You are weak!" The massive bird proudly stated.

While Hakoon sunk in confusion, his eyes eventually locked with the angered beast. Before he could react, the same enemy twisted its waist to the left, and tossed the big army man across the air!

The hard ground was swift to greet him afterwards. Such sudden fate brutally shrouded him in disbelief, especially since the general hadn't been pinned down for a long time!

The rest of the team were shocked as well, once they escaped the cave that is. They heard a loud thud first, so it took them a second to comprehend the big man's crash.

"Oh hell... what a bad time to get revenge." William eventually thought.

Surely vengeance was something he craved, but he sought a superior position first. However, in this case they had been jumped by these feathery beasts, so it wasn't easy to attain the upper hand!

That big white owl urged to make this situation rougher. It eyed the youngest snakezoid here, and shouted a specific demand.

"Try strength with me, peace breaker! I crush you traitor soul." The enemy expressed.

"Oh hell no," William wholeheartedly refused.

The enemy's human-like arms didn't seem buff, but they still flung away a six-foot tall general just a moment ago. Likewise, this wasn't the best time to wrestle.

So of course such a horrible idea was heavily avoided. Instead, he swiftly got ready to launch a neuro-shock!

An attack of this kind required a sizable amount of concentration. That intelligence upgrade brought complexion, so it took more effort to bend all that power to his will.

After he felt somewhat prepared, the time came to put these abilities to the test. So through a deep-rooted, hateful glare, he unleashed a raw neuro-shock against the target!

"Let's see your ancient ass handle that," He thought.

The chunk of neurological electricity he unleashed, was dangerously raw. It was too big to control, so it couldn't be honed into a concentrated attack!

However, with those brief details considered, one thing became clear. This feathery beast was about to suffer a reckless shot, one which behaved much like an ocean-wave!

Metaphorically, it was big enough to drown a man. Yet it wasn't sharp enough to split that same target in two! Nevertheless, William was more than eager to see how things would play out.

Yet regardless of what he craved, this wild situation decided to steer towards another direction! Before the shot could have properly landed, a complication occurred...

Hakoon's fist had somehow been fast enough to smash against the owl's face, right before the neuro-shock could have landed!

That was enough of an interference on its own, but there was another detail which made this scene harder to comprehend. An oddity grew by the millisecond.

The neurologically electrical attack, had somehow landed and linked with the general's iron gauntlet! At that specific moment, the big man's fist was an inch deep on the enemy's face!

This was perhaps the worst time to land a brain shock, the results were simply hard to predict. For example, this invisible attack somehow made itself graphic for once!

Maybe it occurred because of the metal gauntlet's interference? One could not tell for sure, but the scene did grow in perplexity once a fist-sized ball of electricity somehow appeared, and exploded around the general's palm!

Its partially transparent, blue branches raged unapologetically, and unleashed a pre-thunderous sound too! It blew up right on the enemy's face!

With such a combined impact, it was no surprise how that albino owl became an airborne ragdoll. It flipped across the air like an acrobat!

Most importantly, its big body ended up headless before it even met with the ground!

That electrical shock had been too much, its ancient head could not take it. A tiny, blood-mist had spread across the air as well, though the naked eye could see it only for a second.

"What the hell," William whispered.

Everyone across this weedy battlefield was beyond... shocked, the general included. They simply could not understand how a punch was strong enough to become electric.

Only William knew the truth, but he chose to stay silent. His neuro-shocks were strong enough now, so there was no need to spread the matter towards any sub-topic.

But although confusion remained constant, Hakoon for example, was still happy. He eyed the headless carcass for a few seconds, and hollered a hearty laughter afterwards.

"Haha! Birdy couldn't take a punch! Who's next?" He shamelessly bragged.

Yet the overall aura of this area was beyond him. By now, the other owls of the great three were beyond angered.

Unsurprisingly, one of these enemies shouted. "Seize the thieves!"

Such a demand sounded like it was bathed in despise for sure, but the actions that came with it proved even more spiteful.

Before their movements could have been comprehended, this group of birds spread their wings wide and flapped them a couple of times without any hesitation!

Hakoon was swept off the ground in the midst of his celebration, and the rest of these snakezoids weren't so lucky either.

They had been tossed a few feet across the air, before they kissed the wet grass again. These good friends got irritated by those blows, so of course they already planned ways to counter attack!

William was amongst the first to prepare, he thought. "Just gotta focus... these dumb bastards can't handle my shocks now."

However, it took him a second to realise that they had been entirely surrounded by these beasts, the enemy's formation was unique.

These eleven birds positioned themselves around the small crew, enough to form a big triangle. The snakezoids had been blown right in the very middle of this geometrical entrapment!

Yet the trouble did not stop there. These owls had an effortlessly creepy aura, and had an attitude for scale as well. Likewise, it wasn't a surprise how they escalated this situation.

"Behold ancestral power!" That brown-feathered owl shouted.

And before any rebellion could have broken out, these enemies violently flapped their large wings towards the entrapped group!

"Oh no," William mumbled.

He was beyond worried for once, as it was virtually impossible to land a neuro-shock now. A strong wind slapped the boy across the face right away, and disoriented him!

But that wasn't all. This wind which those ancient fiends generated, was strong enough to keep this group of snakes above the ground, through every second!

The worst part was that the team couldn't go anywhere, no. They simply hovered in one place, with no escape. The enemy's attack was perfectly calibrated, no wing flap was out of sync!

In a matter of moments, this wind transformed into the definition of an unnatural hurricane! It spun enough to gain some texture even, countless bits of leaves and branches mixed with it by now.

In all ways possible, this dilemma had grown beyond their control. Likewise, the small group needed a solution for this mess!

Through a stroke of desperation, William decided. "Can't fry them, but maybe I can shoot them!"

This scene was dire, but he didn't want to get out of it as the victim! So he tried to reach a rather primitive bow which Olivia crafted, but it was impossible to grasp it right now.

The couple of tumbles he faced a moment ago, had latched the bow off his back; only god knew where it had been tossed. However, the boy could still feel the wooden-tipped arrows!

"Let's hope for the best, I guess." He thought.

Afterwards the young one flung an entire pouch, right towards the hurricane. That pouch was made out of big, green leaves and was durable enough to carry a few sticks.

However, it wasn't strong enough to withstand these brutal winds. So unsurprisingly, all seven arrows escaped out of it and mixed with the disaster!

William couldn't see which way these slim weapons flew, and wasn't so curious either. Thankfully these spiked sticks weren't stuck in the spot where his friends floated, so they were lucky enough.

It took him a while to notice that the white feathers which each arrow had, helped pierce out of the storm. These weapons weren't slaves to this strong wind!

That was why he celebrated, "Haha!"

Yet contrary to what was expected, one of his own arrows eventually became hazardous. It took a sharp turn across the storm, and sunk deep within the young one's shoulder!

"Hoho!" He mourned.

But before a wave of ego could have crushed him harder than the actual penetration, he got distracted by the violent change of these wind currents!

Such a shift didn't fail to come with strong complications, these problems swiftly made themselves apparent, they were unforgiving.

Specifically, a pair of long and thin swords somehow joined the hurricane. They were the same weapons which William wanted to yank before, these fine pieces of metal belonged to that one brown owl!
