"This looks expensive but... what is it?" Olivia was the first to ask.
At this point, the lady felt stupid to question the other. She already suspected that her wounded friend here, wouldn't know anything about this item.
William proved that conclusion as he answered, "It's a pyramid, probably made out of diamonds or some shit."
For once, the healer felt an urge to be sassy, and she did exactly so. "Thank you, detective obvious. What was your first clue? The pointy edges, or that it probably costs two-million stone coins?"
"Hey just saying, we know what it is but that's not important. Did you wonder what this thing is for? It can't be some ratbug heritage." Of course, he had to unleash a shade of his own sass as well.
After she caught up, the healer sighed. "Ah, so that's what you meant."
At that moment, she lightly clicked her thumb on the gem. The sound it reverberated was even softer in return, almost non-existent.
Eventually she admitted, "I don't know what to say, never saw anything like this before so it's hard to know stuff."
While the lady spoke, she subconsciously thumbed the pyramid a couple more times, such an act behaved like a form of anti stress.
However, she did not expect that her curiosity could harm another soul. A couple of clicks too many, had somehow forced this diamond to unravel an odd sound.
It was high pitched as a start, and would shatter one's weak eardrum!
This weird sound was confusing as much as it was annoying, simply because not everyone was inflicted by this abusive tone!
For example, while William crashed against the ground and desperately covered his ears, the lady besides him had no idea about what went on!
The spooked woman instantly dropped this odd pyramid, and rushed to rough handle the other. She didn't want him to move around too much, as it could advance each wound.
Through that same hustle, she hollered. "What's happening? Are you okay? Did a bug get in your ear?"
Afterwards, she noticed that the ratbugs shared an equal layer of panic, they rattled across the muddy room in an aimless manner. These creatures were eager to escape, but were incapable!
Through the midst of this chaos, the system decided to scream a few notifications in the boy's brain.
At first she urged, [Your hantonic disease has been inflamed, emergency measures are under swift procedure!]
Afterwards it was imperative to explain, [I'm channelling the negative effects towards your mouth, it's your only way to survive this. Please prepare for an outburst!]
The boy wanted to heed such a command, he wanted to prepare. Yet a certain level of paralysis didn't allow it, he couldn't move a single muscle.
The amount of pain he experienced, had forced William towards such an unfavourable condition. Vile would be this pain's second name, it burned underneath the skin equally to a thousand daggers!
Yet through a pocket of time, he heard Olivia yell. "Are you with me? Why are you shaking this much? I don't even know how to heal you!"
Although it was odd, every word that the lady spoke, brought William a step closer towards mental awareness.
After the other finished her panic-filled shouts, the boy finally gained enough control of his own limbs! So he swiftly sat up at first, and then noticed how his throat felt extraordinarily heavy.
"Stand back," He warned under a low, grumbling tone.
At that moment, the lady was pushed back almost violently. The young snakezoid's thrust threw her a couple of feet away!
For a second or two, William couldn't breathe either, but that problem found itself a horrid fix. He puked out what seemed like half of his weight, for a moment he looked like an erupted volcano!
So now he could breathe a tad bit better, but the cost for it was too much.
"Ew! What even is that? Did you drink bug blood?" Olivia shouted, afterwards she peeked at what the boy threw up.
Even as a certified healer, she had no experience with this matter. So for once, this good woman felt useless in the field of health.
"Just stop talking..." The younger one tried to reply, but he was unable.
William puked some grey liquid all across this muddy room's floor. The quantity reached above ten liters so far, so surely he had it difficult to speak.
As for this scene alone, it was gruesome enough to spook both of these associates. In all ways possible, this situation was unexpected.
But thankfully, the system finally announced. [The hantonic disease wanted to destroy your organs, but I forced it through your stomach acid to soften it up.]
Such a sentence seemed scary enough, but the system didn't stop there. [Then I used your lung's water supply to transform the disease into a soft, liquid form. That was the only option, or else your throat would have been ripped.]
Although he still struggled, the boy thought. "Huh? How can it rip my throat?"
[This disease travels in a solid form through your body. I forced tens of pea-sized chunks towards your throat, so if they weren't liquefied, your throat would have been ripped open.] The system specified.
"I still have no idea how this sickness works," He thought.
In an instant, the lady in his head assured. [There's a tab that features information about it. You don't know much about the cure, but you can read and see what the disease does to your body.]
After the system finished that explanation, the younger one noticed that his throat became heavy once more.
In response, William puked out another load of liquids. This time around however, he gained even more control of his body. That and he noticed how the disease's foul effects, met with a comfortable end.
Now, he could help his friend calm down, any type of an explanation would help at this point.
That was why he grunted and expressed, "Oh, oh damn... That pyramid has pissed off my hantonic disease, somehow?"
"What! You can't shapeshift into a snake, and you're only telling me that now?" Olivia yelled.
Even though his hands were wrist deep in his own puke, the boy still found enough strength to be sarcastic.
"Oh... I don't know. Maybe we didn't have much time to talk about it, with bears wanting to piss on my neck, and stuff. Guess I forgot?" William chirped.
After a deep breath, the lady shouted. "Well ha-ha-ha! Do you know how serious this is? You can die!"
"And I need blue-bee honey to heal myself, I know." He followed along, just so a big portion of the conversation could be skipped.
After he noticed an opportunity, the boy asked. "Do you know where I can go to heal myself? Since you help people and stuff, maybe you have an idea."
"No, but I have friends who can help." The other assured.
As William softly nodded, he silently thought. "Oh hell, now I have to keep her alive too."
Before any other topic could have been spread wide, their focus was captured from what could be labelled as unexpected!
Olivia had dropped the odd gem earlier, she simply panicked and tossed it. After that point she was scared to pick it up.
Regardless, the same pyramid proved itself beyond odd once more. In short words, it independently floated a couple of feet above the ground!
"I think we should get out of here," The healer finally pitched, it seemed like a reasonable idea.
Without much hesitation, the other agreed. "Yeah, no kidding."
Yet before they could have gone anywhere, the transparent diamond somehow shot out a weird light!
It beamed right across the room at first, then it swiftly headed outside!
Eventually, this same white light, pierced across the thick ceiling which this massive tunnel had, and only the divines knew where it headed after that point.
The naked eye could notice that a one hundred meter long, pole-thick light pierced the air right now. That scene was magnificent on its own.
Yet the oddest part was that this very pyramid behaved as the source of such tremendous illumination!
"Oh... this is kinda weird." William mumbled.
Oddly enough, he didn't refer to anything that this scene had to offer. Instead, he acknowledged the incredible amount of calmness that poured on his conscience.
Considering how chaotic the situation had become, he should be anything but calm right now. But yet, he felt as peaceful as a monk.
Oddly enough, Olivia didn't share the same aura, she was enveloped by panic. And once she noticed that her friend's face seemed numb, the lady became even more worried.
Nevertheless, she firmly decided. "We're getting out of here, come climb on my back."
To encourage that procedure, she ran close to the boy and turned around. Yet, although he was conscious, the younger one completely avoided this free ride.
William wasn't clueless, but on the contrary, he was peaceful enough to be observant.
Which was why he stated, "We don't have to run away, this pyramid is harmless."
After that point, he avoided the lady and darted his attention towards the diamond in question.
Its mechanical wonders were difficult to understand, but he could comprehend what this thing unleashed.
"Don't you see?" The younger snakezoid tried to pressure.
And afterwards he added, "This gem's meant to bring peace to this place."
"What peace? It almost made you puke your guts out," Olivia reminded.
Eager to prove a point, he specified. "My disease did that."
He didn't want to mention the system in this scenario, so it was only reasonable to be half-specific about this sickness.
However, as he wanted to prove a point furthermore, William decided to reach out for these ratbugs.
For once, the boy gently handled one of these creatures. He petted its nasty, rat-like head as well.
Afterwards he recited, "You said that ratbugs are supposed to be harmless, well, they are harmless now."
