Year 2019
Khel felt miserable, he couldn't persuade Artemis to let go of their children and the worst part was she even took Maki and Maia, the two youngest with her.
"We need to save them Khel"
He grabbed at his hair while he stared at the blueprint of the Haven, the research facility where the project Zarael was being held. The same project that Artemis started almost a year ago.
Yes, that was how long he hadn't seen any of his children. There were no calls and no news about the research. It was almost like they ceased to exist. Khel, Sol and Helios all stare at the blueprint, as they all try to figure out how to save the children. It was suicide if the three of them try to force entry but there was no other choice.
They need to know what ever happened to the children.
"Okay, that's good Makoto, then did you see anything else from your dreams?"
The young Makoto who was wearing a hospital gown shook his head at the scientist who was interviewing him. He had these electrodes in his temples that are connected to the electroencephalogram, a machine that measures the electrical waves in your brain.
"I just saw explosions, lots of them"
"Do you remember where?"
Once again the young Makoto shook his head. He then turned his gaze to the glass window and saw Artemis waving at him, the young one smiled and waved back.
"Your children sure do exhibit the greatest result from this project"
"That is to be expected Chaos, they are after all my children"
Chaos grinned as a proud smile was plastered in Artemis' face. The project was finally seeing some progress and it was all thanks to Artemis and her children.
"Too bad Jace isn't here to help out, I'm, pretty sure he would have liked to see Magnus"
Artemis' eyes darken at the mention of Jace's name, she shot Chaos a glare which the latter only laughed at.
"I could care less about him"
"Uh-huh and how about your now husband? Khel was it? Have you contacted him?"
"Unless there is something that needs to tell him, I see no other reason to keep contacting him"
Chaos looked at Artemis intently. Ever since the first experiment with the first volunteers, Chaos knew that Artemis was never the same as she was before. There were also times when he would catch Artemis talking to someone even though it was only her inside the room.
Even as she smiled at her children, he knew that she wasn't the same as before.
Meanwhile on the far right side of the Haven, two figures were seen creeping on the hallway.
"Okay Maia, I need you to relay to me what you hear, alright?"
The young Maia looked up at Marvyll as she place both of her hands behind her ears. Maia who had already learned how to speak had shown signs of enhanced senses. She could hear what a normal ear couldn't.
"They're asking Kuya what he saw in his dreams"
"And?"
"That she didn't need to contact papa"
Marvyll's shoulders went slack the moment those words left Maia's lips. She let out a loud sigh before she felt a pair of hands placed on her shoulders.
She looked up only to see Magnus staring down at them. For the past year, Magnus' body became even bulkier that he seemed so much scarier now to little girls compared to before.
"Ackk Kuya!!"
The now startled Marvyll tried to run away but Magnus just held her down as he crouched down to stare at his two younger sisters.
"Marvyll didn't I tell you to not wander off? You even took Maia with you. What if you get hurt?"
Maia only stared at her older siblings unaware of what Magnus meant or why he was angry or why Marvyll looked apologetic.
"Sorry Kuya, but Maia heard Mama said that she did not have any reason to contact papa. Does that mean we can't leave here? Why?"
Magnus was taken aback. He knew that they weren't allowed outside because they are currently test subjects but he didn't know that Artemis never contacted Khel. In fact she would always tell them that Khel and their grandmother were alright whenever they ask her.
"Why do we have to be here? I don't like it, they ask too many questions and do many things"
Magnus stared at Marvyll who was now slowly crying, Maia who was also staring at her older sister only held her hand.
"Ate don't cry"
Magnus did hate it too. He hated it that his siblings, especially Marvyll and Makoto, were being treated as test subjects. He hated it that Maia and Maki, who are too young to even be scared of this situation, are with them. He hated it that he couldn't protect his siblings. And he hated the fact that he was powerless.
But most of all, he hated how their mother could endure watching them being experimented on.
"Marvyll listen to me, you too Maia"
The two young girls' attention shifted to Magnus who was now staring at them seriously.
"I promise you, we will get out of here, and we'll go back to papa and everyone else."
Magnus was now determined. Enough was enough, he wouldn't let Artemis get what she wants now. His siblings don't deserve this. He needed to get everybody out of here.
But to do that he needed help.
He stared at Marvyll intently. Marvyll was the scientist's favorite test subject, it was because out of the seven of them, she was the only one who showed signs of being a genius.
She could easily understand the hardest algorithms at her age. Artemis would always go on and on telling them how Marvyll was more like her, a natural born genius.
"Marvyll, they taught you about the communication devices in here didnt they?"
Marvyll nodded at Magnus.
"Okay, let's gather the twins, come on"
Magnus stood up and carried the two girls.
"Why Kuya? What are we going to do?"
"We're going to ask for help."
