Year 2034 (Present Year)
Maia's
They say humans have the capability to quickly adapt and learn its surroundings. In this sense we are a tad bit more intelligent than animals. But human nature isn't something so wonderful afterall.
I gazed at the workers fixing the walls of the pentagon. Everyone looks tired and we know just what is the cause. But, it seemed like they were already a part of the pentagon for a very long time.
It has been a month. A month since I had killed my own mother. A month of searching for the whole truth about our identity and family.
Uncle Helios and Damian returned safely along with everyone who survived the bombing of the SDC bunker.
Dad, along with Iavan and Miisa, bursted into tears the moment they saw me. I felt my heart being gripped tightly at the sight of them. I remember how warm their hugs and tears were.
That moment took away all of the lingering guilt of having to kill my own mother.
Dad explained that they saw everything because Maki successfully connected the pentagon to the bunker. He made it so that everyone on the mutiny would know what mom really was.
But before anyone could act, the bombings began. It was in a spur of the moment that everyone knew they were under attack but instead of fighting, everyone fled.
The lost of the brain and head of the mutiny brought an irreparable effect. Everyone lost their trust in the SDC and it didn't take long before it was disbanded.
The ones who wanted to continue the fight for our freedom joined the pentagon. Grandma and the Elder's convent made this a new faction, one that had the chances of instigating a rebellion.
The scientist, Dad, Uncle Sei, Uncle Ren along with Uncle Helios and Grandma. They were now the key figures to the new plan that the pentagon will be doing.
"Here you are"
I turned around and saw Damian walking towards me. His face was neat now, he cut his hair short like before and he applied a little effort to fix himself now. I smiled when I remembered his reason for doing so.
"Were you looking for me?"
"Actually… my dad is"
My smile dropped when I heard him say it. Damian held my hand and lifted it to his lips before placing a soft kiss there.
"I'll go with you inside this time, so you don't have to worry"
After being rescued, the scientist whose name was Dione confessed to everything and told us a story that we couldn't have imagined before.
Dione was mom's colleague in the National Research Association. It was during the Zareal Project that he had developed the memoria revocare, atleast a prototype of it.
That was when he told us who were the first test subjects of his prototype.
"Come on Maia, you can stay mad at him for doing what he did in the past, I won't stop you, but won't it be better if you could regain every last bit of your memory?"
I let out a heavy sigh before standing up from the ground where I was sitting.
"Fine, as if I can argue with you"
Damian only gave me a smile before pulling me closer to him so that he could wrap his arm around my shoulder.
"You can argue all you want, it's not like I'm stopping you"
"Tch as if I'd ever win against you"
Damian only laughed at me as an answer. I smiled bitterly, eventhough I have loved this man since the beginning I can't ignore the feeling of being conflicted whenever I see his father.
Afterall, Dione's first test subjects for the memoria revocare were me, my siblings and my whole family. And what made it worse, was that it was under my mother's orders.
Because after Dione successfully concluded that he had sealed everyone's memories, he became the scientist who would aid my mother in her very scheme.
"Maia, Damian"
I only nodded at him as soon as we entered his room. His working space was 24/7 monitored by the elders of the pentagon. Eventhough he had come clean to his actions, it was not enough as an excuse to trust him again.
He motioned me to lay at the bed and so I did. Damian leaned on the wall with his arms crossed in front of his chest while Dione placed the electrode pads on my temple.
I had the brief chance to stare at him. The once emotionless face of this man turned out to be a mask that he used in fear of my mother. Dione looked like he aged after the destruction of SDC. But how do I put it? He looked tired and at the same time he looked free.
Damian told me that after he had rescued his father, on the way here, Dione told him the real truth about his mother. Damian grew up with no mother and Dione paid him no attention nor did he give him love.
As it turns out Damian's mother, whose name is Phoebe, was an assistant at the National Research Association. She was a loyalist to the West that was why when she gave birth to Damian, she immediately left and served the government.
Dione told him that there was a high chance that she was still in the capital. Still, Damian made his intentions clear. He doesn't care about her just as much as she didn't care for him. He just wants to live in the present now and think of the future rather than to dwell in the past.
"Maia, this won't hurt as much as the earlier ones but it's better to be careful and don't overexert yourself"
I looked at Dione and nodded at him. I felt Damian's hand on top of mine.
"Just relax okay?"
I looked up to see him standing near the bed. I gave him a small smile and nodded. I could feel Dione's stare at us but he quickly turned around before I could catch him in the act.
"I'll start Maia"
"Alright"
Damian went back to his position as Dione started the machine. He said that not all of our memories have been released and that there are some that may hold the answer to where our lost siblings are.
As I closed my eyes, I felt the now familiar sensation of electricity flowing through my veins. It wasn't a comfortable experience but compared to the feeling of my regeneration abilities, it was much better.
I could hear the soft yet restrained breathing of Dione and Damian, the buzzing of the machine and… guns.
Another memory started to play instantly in my mind. I was shouting as I heard guns ringing in my ears. The room was bland, it was made with white ceiling and a neutral color for the walls. There was a baby laying on the bed and two blonde people sitting cross legged on the floor.
A man and a woman who looked like twins. I couldn't hear what they said nor what I said but I saw them turn their gaze at me. Eyes wide like what I said was something scary. The male one carried me while the female one carried the baby on the bed.
As we went out of the room, a white hallway welcomed my sight. We went to another room where another male blonde went out. He was seemingly larger than the twins and behind him were two more children.
We ran towards the exit before a woman blocked our path.
Mom
As mom and the larger blonde male had an argument, I could see dad behind her trying to stop mom but she only made him unconscious.
Mom fought with the blonde male, eventhough he was taller than mom, he was obviously outpowered. Mom slashed at his right cheek causing it to bleed which made the twins express a panicked expression. The other two children were crying as well. It was right then that a green smoke came out of the ventilation.
In just a matter of seconds everyone fell unconscious. It must have been a sleeping gas, but before I closed my eyes I stared at the larger male blonde who was hugging all of us.
I stared at his face and memorized it.
I had a feeling that he was the man we were supposed to find.
