Later, Masayuki went to Handa and Emiko at another aisle, and he saw that they're having a little chat. "There you are, guys."
Handa and Emiko then looked at him.
"Oh, hey, big brother."
"Masayuki-kun."
Then, Masayuki saw a spiral-bound notebook with a colorful animal drawing printed on the front cover being held by Handa. "Is that an animal notebook?"
Handa then glanced at the said notebook and back at Masayuki. "Oh, yes, I want one."
"Okay, sure, how much is that?"
"It costs 1,700 yen each," Emiko responded.
"Woah, that's a bit expensive," Masayuki commented.
This comment causes Handa to be a bit saddened and discouraged and is going to return that product back to the shelf.
"Woah, wait!" Masayuki responded to this.
Handa then stopped his doing and looked at his friend.
"If you want that, then sure, it's your choice."
"But it's a bit expensive," Handa argued back. "I thought you're in a budget."
Masayuki's budget for that shopping trip is 10,000 yen.
"It's okay, I had a lot of space in my budget."
Since he was worried about how much Masayuki will spend, Handa asked how much money he will spend for his shopping.
"It's around 7,100 yen," Masayuki responded, "I still have I lot of room in my budget, more than enough for some ice cream."
Realizing that his assumptions are wrong, Handa took the notebook and toss it into his shopping basket. "Thanks, Masayuki-kun. I thought you'll never allow me to buy that."
"Come on, you have money, right?"
"Yeah, but it wasn't enough for some pens and some sticky notes."
"That's okay, I'll pay for the rest if you want."
"Me too!" Emiko joined in.
Eventually, they all went to the cashiers to pay for their purchases.
Later, after paying for it and receiving the receipt, the three of them went to where Tohru and the rest are, only to see that they already bought a swimsuit for her.
"Hey, guys," Masayuki greeted.
Tohru and her friends looked at them.
"What's up? How's your shopping?"
Showing his plastic bag to them, Masayuki replied, "It's all done."
"Wow, you guys have a taste for stationery, right?" Tohru asked.
"No, not at all for me, senpai," Handa positively replied, "but Masayuki-kun is."
"I just liked them so much," Masayuki admitted back.
Watching this, Kyo commented to Yuki, "It seems that Masayuki had strange preferences."
He then remembered the time Masayuki taught English to his classmates and schoolmates.
"Yeah, you're right, he is a very valuable ally to us." Yuki folded his arms.
After that, they all went to a restaurant to eat a good meal.
Later, at night, in his bedroom at Shigure's house, Handa looked at his new animal notebook while thinking how good and kind Masayuki is. Although Masayuki was his childhood friend, Handa rarely thought about his deep kindness.
"I think his upbringing really played a major role in shaping his personality," he theorized in his mind.
He knows that Masayuki and Emiko grew up in a happy home, other than Tohru's cousins' prejudice against them.
But he didn't know about the true reason for their hatred of them yet.
Meanwhile, at the Sohma estate, Hatori was at the main house giving an update to Akito about the meaning behind Masayuki's first name. It was confirmed that his name means correct happiness. Akito was satisfied to hear that answer from Hatori. But, what was her intentions on Masayuki anyways?
