Later that afternoon, Masayuki was in his bedroom and was hurt emotionally by how his family had treated Tohru. His emotional pain was similar to those who suffered from emotional abuse. When his sister Emiko came home from school, Masayuki meets her in the living room, greeting her and telling her what just happened less than a few hours ago. In response to that, Emiko was hurt, similar to Masayuki's, and she hugged him in tears. Days had passed, and Masayuki's relation- ship with his family starts to fall apart, as if it is a broken pottery or a family picture being torn apart by hatred and disagreement. Simultaneously, Emiko was still partially hurt by how her elder half-siblings had treated Tohru after she heard it from her older brother. Masayuki, on the other hand, was very annoyed and pissed off, starting to develop a bad and harsh temper and language similar to Kyo's. Tohru's other cousins, meanwhile, are also upset on what Masayuki had done to Tohru, letting her go and live with her friends, especially the male one who was angry at the headset-wearing teenager for considering Yuki's hitting him on the forehead as a karma for his actions to Tohru, as well as a lesson for mistreating the young, innocent girl. Tohru's aunt, however, became neutral about this happening. Whether she felt guilty of not treating Tohru kindly was not yet known, nor it was answered yet. And also, Pablo, Masayuki and Emiko's father and the stepfather of Tohru's cousins, tried to settle the rift in his family, but it barely works. The two sides couldn't just agree with one another, worsening the rift even more. So much so, Masayuki no longer talks to his half-siblings, while Emiko struggles to try to talk to them.
While Tohru enjoys her new life with Sohma family, Masayuki isolates himself from the rest of the family (except for Emiko, because he loves her very much), starting to listen to music more often than usual and reading more pages in his favorite books. This might make him toxic, but he has a good reason for that: his hatred for his half-siblings. This new string of daily habits eventually annoys his elder half-siblings a lot, almost every day. But who can blame for Masayuki's shift of attitude? It was the Honda family's (except for Emiko, Pablo, and Tohru's grandfather) fault that Masayuki was like that.
One Sunday afternoon, in the dining room, Masayuki was reading his favorite novel while listening to his favorite music, when it happened that his older half-sister was nagging him to tell her if he ever loved Tohru. But, just as suspected, Masayuki refused to listen to her, ignoring her and not even doing eye contact with her. He just kept reading word by word, line by line and listening to music second by second. This really annoys his half-sister a lot, prompting her to stand up and demanded Masayuki to respond to her question immediately. Meanwhile, Tohru's aunt was helping her father, Tohru's grandfather, in his room when she overheard her daughter's daily argument with her younger half-brother. In response to that, Tohru's aunt sighed in annoyance, quickly finishing assisting her father's needs and went to the dining room, only to see the tension already taking place a minute ago. At the dining room, Masayuki's older half-sister kept berating Masayuki for his ignorance towards her, but it only causes the latter to maximize the volume of his smartphone and kept ignoring her more and more. Arriving at the dining room with a concerned face, Tohru's aunt tells her daughter to leave Masayuki alone, adding that he doesn't want to talk to her if he doesn't want to. Masayuki's older half-sister then responded back to her mother by complaining how annoying and distant Masayuki is, adding that she suspects him to have a close relationship with Tohru. Then, finally, the stress in this scene was too much, Masayuki stood up and said to his older half-sister, "It's none of your business, so go away." He said that sentence with a cold face, similar to Yuki's. He then grabbed his belongings and stormed out to go upstairs in his bedroom, slamming the door hard and with feeling. This was just a start of one of the tensions that will threaten to break the Honda family apart.
Later that afternoon, Masayuki decided to go out for a few hours, wanting to read his favorite books and write his stories somewhere else that is quiet and peaceful. He was inspired by the books he had read as a child, and wanted to be a writer, planning to study literature once he was in university. But, in spite of his hatred and distant attitude, he promised to come back before dinner time, showing his remaining care for them. All afternoon, he was at an internet cafe doing his writing work in a writing platform on the computer.
