Chereads / Solitude's Requiem / Chapter 130 - Interplanar Travel

Chapter 130 - Interplanar Travel

"That question is rather late." Treyah Tuldani admits whilst still guiding Secessus.

"Will it be anything similar to your treatment?"

"Oh no, for the treatment we need a physical body. This will actually be the opposite." The first sight says again not properly explaining the process.

"And this means what exactly?"

Treyah Tuldani sighs quickly, clearly not over the moon with the fact that he has to explain the ritual.

"We are going to pull your soul out of your body. Then use Luciel's divine power to tear apart the veil of this realm, and finally we will throw your soul in the soul stream that connects the realms. Your soul will desperately be looking to physically manifest itself again and will force its way into Genesias… In theory, at least."

"I don't like that last part."

"It is perfect interplanar travel in theory. However, in reality, your soul will be shredded apart when trying to leave the soul stream and your consciousness will fade forever."

"But I will be able to survive this?"

"Yes."

"What makes you believe this?"

"Because you are a natural reincarnated being, your soul has already transcended the veil between realms and is far stronger than any other soul."

"Since you specified natural reincarnate, I guess that Eli wouldn't be able to?"

"No, Hudan has already tested that subject. When a reincarnated is forcefully summoned, the soul is inevitably damaged. It has to do with the fact that the soul was never meant to reincarnate and was only able to because of the extensive ritual that weakened the veil of the realm."

"A shame."

A small moment of awkward silence falls between the two individuals again.

"How do you know where the soul ends up?"

"What do you mean?"

"You apparently throw a soul in some stream that connects ALL realms, right? What says it will take me to Genesias."

"Oh that, it's because we open the realm using Luciel's divine power. Luciel's divine power will automatically try to return to its origin, which in this case means Genesias. Just look at it as some form of anchor or guide."

"You are well versed in an experiment that you deemed unnecessary." Secessus calls out toward the priest.

"It was for a period of time the only thing of note. You might have already noticed, but the other sights didn't have much going on. Well, nothing that took my attention, at least. Besides, Hudan was quite the passionate researcher. I am of the belief that his betrayal began when I ordered him to focus on the matter at hand."

"Do you regret it? Asking him to stop."

"I did, until he decided to endanger us all. You can't feel a lot of regret after such an event. Anyway, it seems we have arrived." The first sight announces, opening the door in front of him.

The room that comes into vision is far larger than the "treatment" room that Secessus is familiar with. It is also far more decorated, the amount of runic enchantments placed upon the wall are staggering. The atmosphere inside this room also feels far more heavy than normal, it's harder to breath here and moving itself has become more demanding.

'It feels like when I used to spar with Tharnomath. Is here something with an enormous amount of magical ability?' Secesssus doesn't have to wonder for too long, as his eyes quickly see a figure lying on the ground.

The figure is a beautiful red haired woman with majestically looking deerlike horns. It is hard to look at the woman, but even harder to look away. Alluring and dangerous. She feels like the epitome of what a devil should look like, so unnatural and otherworldly. The presence around this still figure is clearly the source of this heaviness that weighs down the room.

"Beautiful, right?" Treyah Tuldani says in a sad tone.

"…"

"You are in the presence of her holiness Luciel, founder of Lucille's Light and one of the twin goddesses of light."

Secessus does not look shocked. Rather, he looks uneasy by the presence before him.

"I feel like I can die at any moment. It's suffocating." He mumbles, recalling his regular spars against Tharnomath. A feeling he didn't long to remember.

"She's asleep at the moment. After their victory, the rebelling demons and devils noticed that they couldn't actually permanently kill their goddess. So they locked her inside this room with runic magic. If you look around, you will also find some of those dim green stones that your little impish found."

Secessus follows Treyah's wooden finger as the treant points out several of these stones. They don't look identical, but similar enough to make the connection.

"Those stones are the most important part of keeping her sealed. They suppress her natural divine magic, weakening her enough to make sure that the runic enchantments in this room actually work."

"That's the line Hudan crossed, isn't it?" The shade demon asks, already certain of the answer.

"Yes, it was." Treyah Tuldani replies, clenching his fist.

"A god in the flesh. It seems unreal." The shade demon says in a soft but clearly annoyed tone.

"Did you not have any gods, where you came from?"

"Depends on which religion you worship."

"Which one did you worship?" The treant priest asks, seemingly really intrigued by this subject.

"Shouldn't you be focusing on getting me somewhere else?" Secessus asks, clearly getting frustrated.

"I just have to finish the last preparations. There's no harm in having some conversation, right?"

"..."

"I was never really a firm believer." The shade demon speaks slowly, clearly thinking of how to word this matter.

"When I got diagnosed by the doctors was the first time I really tried to pray. Afterward, I only really prayed when I was at a low point or when I was struggling. However, I guess you could say that I wasn't a true believer."

"Why didn't you believe?"

"Because that would mean that me dying, not being able to live, was all meant to be. How am I supposed to accept that!"

"What did you ask for in these prayers?"

"To give me back my life!"

"Didn't he? You stand here before me. Healthy and quite alive. Isn't this what you asked, for?" Treyah Tuldani asks also getting more annoyed by this conversation.

"No, he didn't. Now shut up and get me out of here." Secessus says whilst his killing intent is flowing out of his body.

"I'm just saying there is nothing wrong with believing."

"Like you did?"

No reply comes out of the priest's mouth. He completely focuses on the ritual at hand. Letting a much-needed silence fill the room.
