Chapter 125 - New Rules And Agreements

Ergillaz quickly takes care of the remaining situation. Some fallen angels including Argillis enter the church, using their powers to heal the wounded. A few minutes pass by and almost everyone seemed to have been healed successfully.

"How is it?" Argillis asks one of his colleagues, who's still trying to heal someone.

The colleague shakes his head in response. Convinced that there is nothing anymore that can be done.

"I will take over." Argillis says, seeing that he probably has more power remaining than his colleague. After a few surges of divine power, the situation is unfortunately very clear.

Mosk, the wounded changeling priest, had succumbed to his injuries. His body is cold and his illusion of being Botwolf starts to flicker away. Argillis goes over to Ergillaz and whispers the situation in his ear.

Ergillaz as temporary leader decides to go over to Treyah Tuldani and tell him that Mosh has passed away.

"If you have any words or last rites. Do so now, we shouldn't delay the discussion." Ergillaz says, sounding strict and cold.

The weakened first sight simply nods meekly in acknowledgment. The treant priest walks over to the corpse of his fallen comrade. The illusion that surrounded the changeling has now disappeared completely, showing his true form. The body is smaller than expected, about the length of an 8-year-old child. His features look elfish, with pure white skin and pitch-black eyes.

"Ironic, isn't it? The first time that I've seen the true you will also be the last time." Treyah Tuldani says his tone clearly saddened.

The first sight reaches out toward the eyes of Mosk and closes them gently. Then he grabs one of the branches of his body and places it upon him. A very dim red light surrounds the branch.

"Thank you for your service." Treyah finishes this short farewell to his fallen colleague.

The first sight stands up and walks toward Ergillaz. Not willing to make the golden-eyed archdevil wait too long.

"Now that everyone is here. I will be explaining the situation." Ergillaz says, seeing that Treyah Tuldani has returned.

"Anima appears to have been defeated, Ulthris is dead and after a fruitful discussion, the chimeras have decided to join our cause. The wraiths and lava stone orcs have been mostly pushed back. This however does not mean everything has been resolved. Especially our concern regarding the church."

"What exactly are these concerns?" The first sight asks.

"To begin with, it's clear that your little council never had the best interest of this city in mind. Allatou and Ubel ran off, and you and Hudan have long overstepped your boundaries. Your experimentation, whilst to an extent understandable, are in clear contrast with your end goal. Besides, we aren't even sure that the experimentation is being solely used for your end goal, first sight."

"Go on."

"It seems that the reincarnation experiment was rather detailed. To an extent that instead of simply summoning a reincarnation, the reincarnation was specifically for a soul that could use magic related to one's voice."

"I don't believe there is anything suspicious about that." Hudan Hakel intervenes in the conversation.

"I simply decided that a reincarnated connected with one of the primary senses could have a higher degree of success against Anima." Hudan Hakel calmly explains.

"Indeed, however, your other experiments are also quite questionable. Researching a mana related illness, looking up myths and the essence of creation and destruction."

"Is there a reason why you are bringing this up, Ergillaz?" Hudan Hakel asks once more, interrupting the golden-eyed arch devil.

"I felt that there was a need for clarity before I announced our final conclusion. Before we continue, however, Ashmodai if that poor excuse of a priest interrupts me one more time. Kill him."

"…"

"Now that everyone's finally truly listening. Volathriis, Sorzana, and I agreed that destroying this city wasn't beneficial. But we can't leave the power balance as it was before. As compensation for the chimera experimentation, we want Hudan Hakel either banished or killed. Afterward, we will have the council of sights, filled with our own subordinates. To make sure that no boundaries can ever be crossed again."

"What will happen if I refuse?" Now Treyah Tuldani intervenes, showing his doubt about this restructuring of the city's power.

"Then we will have to replace you as well."

"Before I make a decision. May I ask Hudan some questions?" The first sight asks, uncertain of his answer.

"Very well."

The dim red lighted treant's gaze now lands on his colleague.

"Hudan what is the meaning of all this?"

"Like we already discussed, I merely thought that a reincarnation with the most chance of success would be most beneficial. Am I wrong?"

"What about the fact that you already knew Anima? You were discussing a deal of some sort. What was it exactly?'

"Does it matter? I never intended to fulfill it. I was simply giving her a false sense of security."

"Fine, my last question. I know what your research is about. Did you ever stop?"

This time Hudan Hakel does not immediately answer. Thinking about his reply.

"No, I never stopped." He simply replies.

"I TOLD YOU TO STOP FOCUSING ON THAT PROJECT OF YOURS AND FOCUS ON OUR CITY!" Treyah Tuldani yells, clearly enraged.

"What project?" Ergillaz asks, trying to understand the situation.

"Hudan has this goal to try and traverse the planes. So he's been obsessed with researching the veils between realms. Trying to figure out a way to breach the veils and allow this travel of his."

"Why did you tell him to stop focusing on it?"

"This city was already in enough peril. Besides, his previous attempts had already caused a sufficient amount of damage."

At this exact moment, a little imp that has been playing around near the ceiling with his new green stone. Accidentally drops it on the ground.

"I'm sorry! That's my bad!" The imp yells quickly, apologizing profusely.

"Where did you find this?" Treyah Tuldani asks, picking up the green stone. His emotions in clear turmoil.

"In a room?" Randyl replies, trying to not get involved in this argument between the leaders.

"It was Hudan's laboratory." Ashmodai simply adds, seeing the state of turmoil on the first sight's face.

"Of course you just had to risk it all, didn't you? Hudan for your service I will not kill you. You are from this day forward banished from Lucille's Light." Treyah Tuldani says in a somber yet cold tone.

The first sight now turns to face the golden eyed arch devil.

"I agree to your terms and demands. Let's discuss the finer details when we have restored this city."

"Very well." Ergillaz agrees, seeing Volathriis and Sorzana both nod in agreement.
