Chapter 7 - Her room

Back in the small house of the elders, Eva didn't find it hard to adjust as both the elders were so welcoming. The lady brought her into the room, which seemed like it hadn't been opened for a while. "Here, my children used to live whenever they visited us. Now, they have permanently moved to the next town, so this room is usually closed for…"

"Your children... They must be big if I'm not wrong?" it wasn't hard to guess since both the couple looked old too. "You are right, they aren't too young and have their own children and personal life.."

Hearing this, Eva realized that probably the couple was old and they had no helping hands. Because of the same reason, they agreed to keep her for which she is already thankful.

Entering the room, her eyes came to the view of the bed on the corner, below the window, and a large mirror on the another at the side.

The shelves were all empty with a little bit of dust everywhere. "I'm sorry child, this is.. what we have for you to live. Don't worry, I will clean it by tomorrow for sure!"

Turning her face in the lady's direction, she shook her head. "No need for the same. I will arrange it by myself. All I need is your help regarding some clothes.."

As her own dress was slightly torn from the side, she knew that it would be best to cover up in the local clothes of this time. Moreover, this way, she will be able to avoid any unwanted attention too.

"Sure! I will see my closet once.. I guess I have some clothes of my daughter-in-law which she left.. umm… I should check once." Eva nodded her head.

Stepping inside, she touched the walls and saw the roughness in them. 'Probably, this is how her old house looks.. which hasn't been taken care of.'

She was on the verge of emerging into her thoughts but the voice entered in her ears from behind. "I forgot to ask your name.. what is your name dear?"

Her breathe halted down with this question. Gulping her saliva, a flashback played in her mind to make her remember about an incident of the past.

*FLASHBACK*

"Eva… you aren't allowed to change your name ever in this lifetime all right? This name.. has special powers for you.." her father's face was freshly printed when he instructed her.

The four years old Eva was confused. Puzzledness was written all over her face, "Why? There Are so many names.."

"Because this name.. is given to you by your dear father my child." Eva wasn't convinced but when her father promised to teach her magic, she agreed to his demand.

But in the end, she broke it too.

*FLASHBACK ENDS.*

With her body frozen from top to bottom, she remised all the time when she was not changing her name. When she moved to this town with her husband, she never told anyone the real name itself.

Rather, used a cover-up to hide from those evil people yet.. in the end, what she feared, came true. The name.. she wasn't supposed to change, brought too much destruction.

"Child? Are you all right? do you want me to bring something for you to eat?" The lady behind her asked, in the sweetest voice but Eva whispered, "Ev..Eva Watson."

"Oh.. your name? Eva.. such a nice name your parents gave you! It suits you a lot, just like your innocence."

Innocence? A scoff left her lips when such word is associated with her title.

Turning around, she looked at the lady with a smile, "May I know yours too?

"My name is Rosie Folk and my husband's name is James Folk. We are usually the ones who do the hand work for the ladies, for the dresses they wear. You can say, we are the Tailors." Nodding her head in agreement, Rosie left her alone in the room to bring a dress for her from one of the boxes.

"This.." putting the same in her hand, Rosie had the piece of art, giving Eva, carefully. "It will suit you a lot. Try and change into this, after being freshened up. You must be tired so, rest for today.."

Eva was super relieved hearing this. "Thank you so much." Mrs. Folk explained her the procedure of the washroom and about the taps, so that she can take a warm bath.

Looking at the dress in her hand, Eva looked at her reflection in the mirror to witness her face. Bringing her hand near her cheeks, she caressed it lightly. 'Such a soft skin.. if counted, I would have been already aged till now. Or not.. since devil blood's run inside my veins.'

She knew it would be a waste to recall the past so Eva decided to take the bath with the hot water filled inside it. God knows after so long she was getting this kind of relaxation.

After a quick bath, Eva wore the dress given by the lady and found the fitting to be perfect. There was no need for alteration. "Hmmm.. this piece is good."

In the mirror, she observed the dress which was broaded with lace at the borders. It was a knee-length dress with a shrug over it. 'Her daughter-in-law's taste must be good.'

As she observed the dress, the window suddenly opened with the silk curtains in the air. The sudden voice of the falling vase on her bed, almost made her take a step back.

Clutching her heart tightly, her eyes widened when she witnessed that it was merely a strock of wind"I thought.. something else.. Gosh.."

She was scared too easily. Shutting the window tightly, while pulling the curtains on one side, she let the sunshine appear inside the room, which had only a few lights.

With the time, Eva found herself ready. "I should.. at least show them how I look."

With this thought, she made her way out of the room without closing the lights and the door.

Yet, what she missed was the flickering of the lights, which switched off on their own. There was a deep dakrness in the room with the window opened itself and curtains flew due to the wind.

But somehow, the lamp was lit once again, with the wind stopping outside and a small toy lying on the floor smirking.. whose smile simply widened and widened...
