Chapter 5 - chapter 3

[Host has gained the shadow affinity and learned the spell 'Shadow Port']

[Shadow Port:

MP Cost: 1 per meter

Description:

A short-range teleportation spell that is used to travel swiftly while remaining undetected. Users can teleport to any location that they can see within a 15-meter radius. The target destination must be covered in darkness or it must be a shadow. As the users' proficiency increases, so do the range.

"Okay, let us try this out..." Alex said as he stood up.

'Shadow port,' he thought as he looked about 10 meters away from him.

SWOOSH~

As soon as Alex thought the name of the spell, the shadows around him quickly climbed up his body before pulling him into the asphalt. During the split second, he was gone it felt like time was slowed down significantly. He felt as though he was down there for minutes. While he was down there it felt like his body was submerged in a pool of ink, but he could breathe just fine...or rather, he didn't need to breathe.

All of a sudden Alexs' body shot out of the asphalt before the shadows quickly disappeared.

"Hey, PIA...No, I'll call you Ava, I don't like the sound of PIA. Is that alright?" Alex asked the AI.

{Yes}

"Okay, how long was I down there?"Alex asked ava.

{The time you were down there was 0.10 seconds. Although, due to the perception change inside of the 'port', it felt like you were down there for 10 minutes.}

"Why is it like that?" Alex inquired.

{I do not know}

"Okay, it doesn't really matter and I can see some advantages of it during battle so it doesn't really bother me much," Alex shrugged it off.

After sitting back down for a few more minutes to regain his mana, Alex stood up to head to his house.

"Oh wait, there are more tabs I need to check first," he said as he came to a sudden realization. "Open the store tab please."

Alex climbed a nearby building, deciding not to just stay sitting in the alley while he was messing around with the system.

He looked at the new menu that had appeared as soon as he got to the top and sat down.

He scrolled down to see what there was to buy. Most of the stuff was way too expensive for him to buy with the 60 coins he had on him. As he continued to search, he found some truly interesting things. There were weapons and scrolls and clothes. As he searched he also saw many different types of potions and such. Each of the base potions (Healing, Stamina, and Mana) was 10 coins apiece.

"I would like 3 of each of those," Alex stated figuring that it was best to be prepared, and even if he saves his coins it would be a while before he could get anything good.

{You have obtained 9 potions, all of them have been sent to your inventory Alex}

"Thank you," Alex replied. "Is there a faster way for me to get coins though?"

{Yes, you can transfer coins with other humans}

"Ok," Alex replied solemnly as he closed the store window."What's this chat tab though?"

{You can use that to speak with other hosts. There is a local chat, where you can speak to you're party...if you ever make one. A public server to speak to Everyone within a set distance of yourself that you can change. As well as, there is a direct chat where you can speak directly to people you have decided to add as a friend through the system.}

"Ok, Then please open the chat and set the distance for 2.5 miles around me please for the public chat."

{Ok Alex}

Hundreds of messages like the first few that Alex had seen kept popping up.

"Well there's nothing I can do for them, they would just ignore it if it was me in their places anyway," Alex muttered as he switched out to open the final screen. "Quests."

There was only 1 quest and this is what it read.

"Well, I guess I should hunt...if it'll make me stronger, then I'll even kill god," Alex muttered coldly as the crisp winter air turned his breath to steam and his eyes seemed to flicker black as the moonlight reflected in his pupils.
