When Lisa wanted to reply that I was there, I signalled for her to keep quiet with a glance. Then, I raised from Lisa's seat with a dark aura around me and took slow breaths to calm myself. When I spoke, I tried to pull the most polite and sweet tone.
"Yeah, miss President is stuck in traffic as well, and she will be a bit late. Don't worry, though. Anything you want to tell her, you can discuss with me." confidence was beaming in my voice despite my legs threatening to give up on me.
"And who would you be?" he turned to face me, and his shocked expression didn't need any words.
"I'm Clara, miss President's most trusted assistant, pleased to make your acquaintance," I replied in the same tone while extending my hand to greet him.
He looked at my hand, scoffed, and assumed his seat.
Such a j**k…
His gesture rendered Lisa speechless as well. She was now looking at me nervously.
"Lisa, would you be a dear and bring us some refreshments? I suddenly feel parched," I growled, my anger taking over.
"Well, Mr. Loke, I believe you owe me an apology for this morning and at least the decency to regard me. After all, you came to us for a meeting." I started speaking in a menacing tone.
"I came to you? Hah, don't flatter yourself. I came here to meet Miss Murik. You are barely her assistant, so why would I bother to regard you or apologize to you," he replied in a bitter tone. It was visible now that he was also an Alpha by the dark aura glowing around him.
"Is that so? Well, in that case, I don't think you can bother the Lycaea group to work with you either. Miss Murik and the Lycaea group have a principled stance for morals and equality. Hence, if you did something wrong regardless of your status, you should apologize for it," I said, a frightening dark aura surrounding me. My eyes going even darker from anger, a murderous smile playing on my lips while I was fixing him in the spot with my stare.
Shock and fright glazed in his mesmerizing blue eyes. Under my gaze, I could notice how he froze in his seat. We stood there completely still in a standoff, neither of us breaking eye contact. For a moment, I believe I saw the same lust my body was feeling. Something was pulling me to him. Then, breaking eye contact, he started speaking again.
"You are but a mere assistant. You don't decide if the groups will collaborate or not. For sure, you don't decide if I get this meeting or not," Hades barked at me, his glowing dark aura growing more prominent, his eyes filled with anger.
As soon as he finished speaking, like she was on cue, my other assistant, Clara, oblivious to what was happening, flung the doors open and rushed towards me.
"Miss Murik, sorry to bother you, Mr. Davison, is here again. He is refusing to leave unless you give him one more chance at a meeting," she said, waving her arms in the air. You could tell the man's presence annoyed her.
"Very well. I was about to end this charade, anyway. Please bring Mr. Davison to meeting room 3, and let's hear what else he has to say," I said in a calm tone. My eyes fixed on the man across from me that was going livid by the minute after hearing her.
Hades pov.
As soon as I reached the parking lot, I saw Liam waiving at me. Today, I had a crucial meeting with his boss, yet this as***e chose today to call me to his office to hand me a package that he could've brought home later. Because I had waited for that package for almost a month and Liam kept forgetting it at his office, I went there to pick it up. No matter how much he annoyed me sometimes, he was my best friend, and I always saw him as a brother to me. That is why he became my Beta. Despite a lot of the pack members working for our company, he was the office manager of one of the smaller sites of the Lycaea group. The same group I will meet later and seemingly my last hope. Since I got out of business school, I started working in our group, but my father hid things from everyone. He always made it look like both the business and the pack were thriving. But, when I stepped into the CEO and Alpha position, I realized how much the company sank, which affected the pack as well. It was currently in such terrible shape that many of our partners dropped out of contracts. The company was losing money on all fronts.
We needed a Hail Mary to return to glory, and that was what the Lycaea group was. Before, I heard about the ruthlessness of the group's President. Some would go as far as to say she was evil and of unspeakable cruelty. Because of how she would do business and her well-known glare, it became trendy to refer to her as Medusa, or Hell's Queen, in the business world. Similar to Medusa, some rumoured that her glare could petrify you, hence the nickname. Of course, you stopped being able to move any muscle at the sight of it, but how bad can it be, really? After all, I'm an Alpha wolf while she is just a girl.
After I entered the parking lot, I left my car randomly parked somewhere in the parkway. It's not like it's going to take me over 2 minutes to take the package from an already waiting Liam and get back in the car. We greeted each other, grabbed the box, and hurried to my car as I wouldn't like to be late for my meeting, but not before promising Liam we will catch up over some beers tonight.
When I was heading to my car, I saw her. She was tall for a woman dressed in a classy black dress, hugging her body in all the right places, showing her perfectly sculpted body. While she was slender, you could see from her athletic body and toned muscles that she must do many sports or regularly hit the gym. In addition, her hair was a dark brown that also had a shade of red in the sun's bright light. After I took another step towards her, her scent hit me. In essence, it smelled like spring, cool but sunny, sweet but slightly spicy, and intensely sensual. In detail, it was like a room full of stargazer lilies and primroses. Straightaway, my wolf Seth was pouncing to let him out. Suddenly, he was nervous and restless as he whimpered in my head.
"Seth, what is it," I asked, not knowing what came over him
"She, she… I don't know, but I have a feeling we need to be with her," he said, struggling like he couldn't even understand what had gotten over him.
I took a deep breath to calm myself.
"Is this your car?" I asked in a deep, seductive voice.
Once she turned to face me, my jaw dropped. To say she is gorgeous wouldn't do her justice. With a perfectly sculpted face wearing very light makeup, she had the most stunning obsidian black eyes. In fact, you could not distinguish any other tint of colour. Apart from her perfectly black eyes, shaped in a foxy upturned almond, she had full seductive lips and a clear, structured jawline and cheekbones. In other words, she was so perfect that she looked like a doll with that porcelain white skin, and I wondered if she was real or if this was just my head playing tricks.
"Yeah, it is, mind moving, yours? You should know this is not a parking spot. You need to be aware of other humans that may need to leave," she snapped at me, and the icy glare she was giving me sent shivers down my back.
She looked slightly familiar after realizing she was real, but I couldn't figure where I saw her before. But, regardless of the familiarity, I didn't like her tone of voice. Didn't she know who I am? She is bold, snapping at me like that.
"I knew I'll come back in 2 minutes," I answered in a haughty tone to make my stance there. I'm not a lowlife human that she can berate so quickly.
"Regardless of how much you plan on leaving it here, you're not the only one using this parking lot. Inconveniencing people at your own leisure shows just how ill-mannered you are. Now move that car, or I'll tow it for you," she replied in an even colder tone. Her eyes grew even darker. The abyss of her eyes looked like it will swallow me whole and send me straight to hell, a dark aura surrounding her, making her look frightening.
I couldn't say anything, couldn't think of anything to say. The girl's gaze was so intense it rendered me speechless. I waved her off dismissively, with an arrogance I didn't know I possessed until now and walked to my car.
Stuck in traffic afterward, I couldn't think of anything else but the beauty which I encountered. I wanted to know her name and why she looked familiar. Then again, I wondered why I felt so drawn to her and why she even influenced Seth. Seth was now sulking in the back of my head like I did something wrong. Because of the way I left, I knew she must think I'm a jerk, but she was so damn stunning. After letting Miss's Murik assistant know I will be late because traffic was worse than ever, I went over my pitch one more time. I was a brilliant entrepreneur, and while working for the firm, I received many praises. I had been the cover for Business Insider for multiple editions. Still, it seems I was doing a great job on a front, and my father was destroying it on another. Therefore, I was nervous about depending on another group to succeed. Once I got to the main office of the Lycaea group, a friendly assistant with red curly hair and green eyes led me to a meeting room. Before I even made it to the room, the same scent from earlier hit me again, and as soon as I entered the room, I saw her again. She was standing at one of the assistant's spots typing on a laptop, and the moment she raised her head to face me, I could swear the time froze. Meanwhile, the room temperature went down while my body started burning with lust.
I turned to the assistant who just walked me in, trying to calm myself down.
"Oh, so the President is late as well. I worried I'd made her wait," I blurted out despite my heart beating 800 miles/h.
