"What's your name, anyways?" The bushy brunette head asked.
"Azriel Rune Black. You?" Rune replied.
"Hermione Granger. It's nice to meet you, Rune."
"You too, Hermione." Rune smiled at the girl as he walked beside her.
Hermione and Rune had stopped by any compartment with a person in it to search for the toad. Each time they had gotten a negative response from the people within.
While one of them would question the people in the compartment, the other would keep an eye out down the hall.
Unfortunately, that proved to be unsuccessful.
Frankly, it was getting quite irritating.
For all they knew, the frog could be long gone, never to be seen again. This Neville kid may as well get a new one at this rate.
Hermione stopped in front of yet another compartment, interrupting one of the two boys within. The one who had paused his speech was a ginger boy who held a wand in his hand and a rat in hid lap.
The rat's head was stuck within one of the many boxes of candy (ones that Rune have never heard of) surrounding the boys.
The other boy had black hair and circular glasses that were taped in the middle. The sight of the garden rat made Rune scrunch up his nose in slight distaste. They were one of the culprits responsible for ruining some of their harvests around the end of October and the beginning of November.
It sucked having to throw out perfectly good vegetables because rats got to them.
Rune peaked over Hermione's shoulder a bit further as the girl began to speak, "Have any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville lost one." Both of the boys shook their head at Hermione's questions.
However, before either of them could speak, Hermione spoke again. "Oh! Are you doing magic? Well, let's see it then!" Hemione stood up straight and moved to the side, letting Rune stand by her side and in the door way as well to observe the magic the ginger was about to perform.
He cleared his throat and waved his wand a bit. "Sunshine, daises, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" With a final wave of the wand, he pointed the tip towards the rat in his lap to send the spell towards it.
However, instead of the rat turning yellow as they would've hoped, it simply shocked the rat. In response, the rat jumped with a squeak, causing the box to fall to the floor.
"Are you sure that's a real spell?" Hermione raised a brow at the boy, shifting her weight to the other foot. "Well, it's not a very good one, is it? I've tried a few spells just for practice and it all worked fine for me." Hermione walked into the compartment before Rune could scold her for the slight rudeness she just displayed, sitting down and holding her wand out towards the black haired boy across from her.
"For example," Rune came in and sat beside Hermione as she spoke, intently watching with Ron while Harry was wide eyed, "Oculus Reparo." In an instant, the boy's glasses were fixed.
The boy's eyes widened, silently awed as he removed his glasses to look at them. Hermione lit up in realization, "You're Harry Potter!" The way she said his name was as if he was some celebrity-- some one everyone knew.
Rune didn't know him, of course.
"I'm Hermione Granger-- and... you are?" The brunette initially held a smile that quickly faded into one of little interest when looking at the ginger.
The boy had been eating more of the candy he had around him to eat the piece.
"Ron Weasley." His speech was slightly muffled.
"Charmed."
Rune nudged Hermione with a soft glare before looking at the two boys in front of him. "And I'm Azriel Rune. It's nice to meet you both." Unlike Hermione's clear and quick change of tone, Rune remained polite.
It was best to be that way when meeting new people or being in front of authority was what his father had told him. This especially applies when going to new places.
Harry gave a kind smile in return, putting his glasses back on. "It's nice to meet you too." Hermione glanced outside the window beside her before standing and making her way to the door of the compartment.
"You two better put your robes on. I expect we'll be arriving soon," Hermione spoke to the two boys before looking at Rune, "Come on, Rune. You should get back to your friend." Rune quickly stood as he was called, making his way to the door as well.
Hermione began to leave when Rune reached the door. However, Rune paused before following behind her. "You got a bit of dirt on your nose, Ron. Right there." Rune raised a hand to point to a spot on his own nose as an example.
Ron frowned to himself as he placed a piece of candy down and raised a hand to his own nose, gently rubbing it. Rune flashed a smile to both of them as a final parting before leaving them to change.
