"Knowing what's right doesn't mean much unless you do what's right."

Evo's POV
"Bro, how are you feeling?" As he placed his hand on my shoulder and took a seat beside me, Migs inquired. "Are you OK?"
I looked at Migs and glanced at my friends. "I'm OK. I'm fine."
When I called the police, they arrived at the university after half an hour. While the students sat on the soccer field, My friends approached me, and like me, they could not help but notice the police officers and the corpse in the distance. They also glanced in the direction of the woman and the paramedic. She was sitting not too far away. The police officers are waiting for her to provide an account of the events so they can move forward with the investigation. However, I was unable to hear anything from the woman beyond the static noise of her thoughts. The woman must be experiencing severe shock. I know the police and paramedics can't get any information from her.
"Your cousin is outside, and the guards won't allow him in."
"Oh, yes, my cousin. I forgot about him." I stood up and looked at the police officer. "Can I go now, sir?"
A hooded man suddenly arrived, and I gazed at him from afar. It was wearing black pants, a hoodie jacket, and a facemask, so when it glanced at me, I couldn't recognize him as it walked toward the police officer. The officer greeted him formally, as if he knew him. I even saw the cop and hooded man glance at him. As I looked at them, it was as if the police were telling him why the other cop questioned me. I frowned. My surroundings are full of thoughts again, and one person, in particular, dominates them. I can't read or hear anything from him because his mind is blank as if it had already happened.
I couldn't understand a single thought, although they were all around me. It was static, and what I heard sounded like a broken signal. When I lose control of my abilities, this is what happens. My head started to hurt, so I had to relax and take a deep breath.
Inhale...
Exhale...
I do this repeatedly to calm my mind until my ability returns to normal.
"Yes. If we have more questions, we will call you."
"Thank you, sir," I said. I couldn't stop looking at the hooded man and the police. I want to help the officers investigate the crime, but I must control my abilities. I need time to calm down. Because of this, I can't use my power well.
I even caught a peek at the woman I was with as we discovered the corpse. I blew out some air and walked away from the building.
———
Migs, Wilson, and I approach the gate and immediately introduce Andrew to the guard as my cousin so that the guard will let him through. The police officer led us to the soccer field with the rest of the crowd. All the students at the university gathered on the soccer field. Andrew couldn't stop wondering what had happened, so he asked me, and I surprised him with my response.
"Killed? Inside the university?" Andrew was shocked.
"I saw the corpse. Someone pushed the victim down from the third floor," I said.
"Damn!" Andrew exclaimed. "Who murdered him?"
I shook my head. "I have no idea for now. Her girlfriend has a complete communication blackout."
Andrew whispered. "You can hear her thoughts. You can use your ability."
Of course, only Andrew knows my little secret. I shook my head again. "I'm unable to differentiate anything from her thoughts. I believe she is still reeling from what happened. I feel like she witnessed the whole thing."
"What's taking so long to identify suspects? To what end have they brought us here, anyway?" Brian asked.
"I think Daddy has to know what's going on. I can't stand it any longer." Zoey finally got her hands on her phone, but I quickly snatched it from her.
"Are you going to report to your dad again?" I asked. "This is how they conduct investigations. You have seen it. They let them go after questioning them, didn't you?"
Zoey glared at me and then snatched the phone away from me.
———
Sitting here and not doing something makes me feel guilty, so I left without Andrew or my friends noticing. I quickly walked while sitting down so the police wouldn't see me, then went around the back and ran away from the field.
When I got to the crime scene, I hid and watched them investigate. I smiled as I heard their thoughts get stronger, which meant I was back in control of my abilities. The police and paramedics tried to communicate with the woman, but she didn't seem to be herself. She sobbed, staring at the corpse while massaging her trembling hands. According to the paramedic, the woman's insanity-inducing experience resulted from what she witnessed. The paramedics told them not to try to force anything, and that they would transport her to the hospital first. However, the woman stayed in her seat, staring at the dead body and weeping.
One of the police officers—I heard them call his name Eduard—pressed his hands to the back of his head. They have just two witnesses. They have already obtained the testimony from one witness, leaving only the woman's evidence to consider. When they didn't receive a response from her, he had to designate the two witnesses as suspects because they were the first to see the victim. However, the witness he was referring to was me; I saw the woman running down the stairs from the top of the building. They were also able to observe the scene from an angle. The victim's fractured ribs and skull gave the impression that the corpse had fallen from a massive height.
I only used my abilities once, and I wanted to target a woman. I have not had any training, but this is the only way I can help with the investigation. In addition to hearing or reading someone's thoughts, I can also control them by entering their mind. For telepaths like myself, "mind manipulation" is currently helpful. It's like Professor X in X-Men, but it takes effort.
The person whose mind I can't read or hear is there again. He once again distinguished himself from the surrounding thoughts. I glanced at the police officer standing next to him.
'So he's Zero. What a weird name.' I thought.
A special investigator, Zero, approached the woman. Zero took a seat next to the woman.
"Hey, you're Naomi, right?" Zero asked. The girl ignored Zero as if she hadn't heard a thing. The cop, named Eduard, was in the distance, watching them. Zero turned toward the woman.
"If you want justice for your boyfriend, you must assist us. Naomi, please," Zero said.
I started to concentrate, and I just thought about the girl. At first, she rejected my ability to enter her mind. It appeared that her mind wasn't very stable, but when Zero held the woman's hand, I finally entered her head.
"Tell them what happened and why your boyfriend fell off the third floor." After gaining insight into her thoughts, I communicated with the woman. I have to keep my eyes on her until the police figure out what happened. And then the woman started talking.
Joel suddenly yanked me away as we watched the excellent hall's final count of ballots. He had to pull me up the stairs.
I asked him, "Joel, where are we going?"
When the woman spoke, Zero and the police were shocked. They exchanged glances, stunned and confused. She tells the story of what happened, and they don't bother her; instead, they listen to her.
The woman kept talking. But he didn't say anything; we just kept climbing the stairs. And then he suddenly pulled me in for a passionate kiss.
He said, "I miss you," between our passionate kisses.
I hastily shoved Joel and ran up the building's corridors. Joel had to climb to the upper floor in order to catch me. Joel kept his hand on my hip, leaning in for passionate kisses. As he pressed on me, Joel pushed me against the wall. The kiss deepened until someone pulled Joel away from me.
She has one facial reaction, staring blankly at the corpse. The woman began to cry, but she kept telling her story. I recognized who had shoved Joel. It was Floyd, so I asked him.
"Floyd, what are you doing?"
But Floyd didn't say a word, and he was furious. He ran over to Joel and hit him on the head with a rock. I tried to defend my boyfriend. I approached Floyd and grabbed hold of his shirt, but he shoved me against the wall. Joel continued to punch him until they parted ways. Joel is now ahead of Floyd.
I yelled at them. "Stop, Joel. Floyd, stop it."
Joel kicked him, but he dodged it. Joel grasped his leg and knocked him to the floor. After he walked up to him, Floyd hit him with the rock. Joel, despite his seeming frailty, kicked Floyd to get up. Floyd approached the bars where Joel was leaning. Floyd dropped a rock, so I picked it up and struck him in the head. He tried to grab the rails, but Joel stood behind him and strangled him. They exchanged positions once more before collapsing. Floyd held the bars to prevent him from falling, but Joel didn't make it and fell over the edge.
I didn't expect what would happen. I couldn't breathe, and my whole body felt like it was going numb. It feels like my lungs are already full. After my shock subsided, I managed to let out a scream.
"Argh!" I felt a lot of pain in my head. Since severe pain crushed my head, I lost touch with the woman. I looked at them and saw that the woman seemed to have lost consciousness. The medic is already hugging her, and they're carrying her to the stretcher.
"She fainted," the police said, and she faced Zero. "What do you think of what she said? Is that what happened?"
I saw Zero nod, and her mouth was saying something, but I couldn't hear her.
"Are you sure what she said is what you also see?" the police asked Zero.
I frowned, and Zero nodded again. 'He saw what the woman said. What does it mean?'
One of the police officers approached them. "We've gathered everyone on the soccer field, sir," he said.
The police nodded. "All right, then."
I leaned against the wall and took a deep breath. I held my head. "Aahh! It hurts..." I moaned softly.
Later, I sat down. Although my head hurt, I was able to do the mind manipulation. That's an achievement for me.
Inhale...
Exhale.....
I felt the warm liquid coming out of my nose. When I saw the liquid, I rubbed it with my two fingers and frowned.
'Blood?'
