EDUARD
"What's wrong, Uncle Eduard?"
When Kaycee opened the door, the question that had been waiting for me came up. Instead of answering, I took a determined step toward the kitchen, where I planned to get a glass of cold water to cool me down. But the first thing that caught my eye was Bella and Kaycee drinking beer and eating chips at a table. I grabbed a bottle from the fridge and moved to the other end of the table from where Bella was sitting. Kaycee was seated at the far end of the table. She was quiet, but her presence was evident.
"Did the killer get away?" Bella asked
Before drinking the beer, I opened the bottle, and when the cold, bitter liquid touched my tongue, I felt driven to grab a handful of crisps and enjoy their savory taste.
"Didn't you envision someone coming out of the wall?" Once more, I prayed to Bella for her response.
