Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 1

Brrrr, brrrr

"Shut up" I said to my alarm clock but it continued ringing. So stubborn

"Fine, I'm up. Stupid thing" I said as I threw my covers over my body and put off my alarm clock. After brushing my teeth, I made my way downstairs for breakfast.

"Morning" I greeted my mom who was in the dining room as I entered the kitchen

"Morning" she replied.

Deciding to have pancake and syrup for breakfast, I microwaved the pancakes and took the syrup from the fridge. I was about to devour my delicious breakfast before I was interrupted,

"Alexandra, I need to tell you something" she said and I didn't need anyone to tell me before I knew that these something was very important considering

We dont talk apart from usual greetings, and I didn't know how I was going to feel about it

"What is it?" I asked giving her my full attention

"We're moving"

After a long pause, she finally said

"When?" I asked.

Exactly as I predicted, I didn't know how I felt so I didn't know what to say. I mean, I don't even have friends, I don't talk to anyone and there is no one I'm going to meet in school

"During the holidays" she said without meeting my gaze.

With a sign, I asked, "Which state are we moving to?"

"Sweetheart, we aren't moving out of the state, were moving out of the country"

I blinked

"What? Out of the what? Are you kidding me?" I shouted

I knew I didn't care about moving out but not out of the country. That's just too much

"I'm sorry" was all she said

"You're sorry? Why are you sorry?"

"Why exactly are you sorry?!" I continued raising my voice as she didnt reply

"Alex..." she started but I interrupted her

"I've lived here all my life, mum, and now you just want me to move and say sorry as if that will just fix everything. For goodness sake, its not even out of the state but out of the country!!"

"It's for the better, dear. You can even get to be interact able and maybe make friend" she said

"Interact able?" I asked with a scoff,

"You want me to be interacting? Ive lived here all my life and Ive never been interacting able and now you think moving will make me interact able" (in quote) "and even make friends?" I asked with a fake laugh.

Seeing that she didnt say anything and I was not helping, I decided to calm down

"Where are we going?" I asked calmly and quietly

"Korea" she replied to stay with your grand mum

After a long pause,

"I'm going to school" I finally said and went upstairs to prepare for school.

There was no point staying to continue the conversation

^^^^^

"Alexandra, hurry up please. We wouldnt want to miss our flight, would we?" my mom shouted from the sitting room

"Does it look like I'm playing over here?" I shouted back from my room

After some time, I was finally ready

"I'm done" I said going down the stairs.

My mom said to only carry a box but I still took a small hand luggage nevertheless

"I thought I said one box" she said

"It's one box" I replied with a shrug showing her my box

"I needed a place to keep my cosmetics and stuff" I added when she raised one eyebrow at me

"And they couldn't fit into the box?"

"Come on, the plane. We wouldn't wanna be late, would we?" I said going to the car, using her words back to her

Luckily for us, it was just a thirty minutes ride to the airport and another forty-five minutes for all the checkup, scanning, blah, blah, blah, airport stuff. Immediately I had tucked in my hand luggage and settled down, I brought out my ear plugs and phone then started to listen to music since the mini-TV was yet activated and an annoying announcement was going on

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed silently as the plane took off

"Are you okay?" my mom asked concerned

"What the funky monkey was that?" I asked

"What?" she looked perplexed

"That thing, as if my heart was about to come out" I replied

"Oh, it happens as a result of the planes acceleration. You know, when the planes going up, there is this sudden rush of wind trying to make the plane come down which the plane is going against to move forward so..." she explained

I raised my hand

"That's okay. Thanks, I get it" I interrupted her before she starts going overboard.

When the mini-TV got activated, I switched off my phone and charged it then I watched a movie, SAN ANDREAS. After some minutes, we were served by the hostess but I couldnt eat because it was I wasn't yet hungry. Since I didnt feel like watching a movie for that period, I took out my sketch pad and started to draw while listening to music. After the series of eating, sleeping, drawing, watching movies, we finally arrived in South Korea then took a local plane to get to Seoul.

"Look out for your grand mum" my mom said as we got to the airport but before I could reply,

"Soo Joon-ah!" a voice shouted from behind

Knowing who it was,

"Halmoni" grandma I said turning and looking for her. Sighting her,

"Halmoni!" I exclaimed and ran to hug her

"Aigoo, look at you. You've grown so much" she said cupping my cheeks with her hand which made me smile even though I didnt know how I had grown from the last time she visited us which was just two years ago

"I missed you so much"

"I missed you so much too, Halmoni" I replied as we hugged again

I really loved her so much so even though I was mad at my mom for us moving out of my childhood home and country, I was glad we were staying with grand mum

"Mom" my mom said as she stepped to my side

"Let's go" grand mum replied with a completely different demeanor.

My mom and grand mum have had a strain in their relationship since my mom married my father. From what I know, my grand mum was against their marriage because my dad wasnt a Korean and my mom would have to live in American with him but notwithstanding, my mom still married him. Holding her hand,

"Halmoni, we are going to have a blast together, right?" I asked trying to freshen up the atmosphere which worked as her face lit up

"Of course" she said with a smile as we walked out of the airport into the waiting station wagon

Being a person who loves the rush of wind, I rolled down the window of the speeding car; my head out a little bit and looked at the amazing buildings

"Wow, you've got a really nice exterior, grand mum" I said as we got down from the station wagon. The two storey building was painted with a cream color which looked like a salivating icing while the rooftop was painted navy blue. It has a built-in garage at the side accompanied with a concrete floor

"Wait until you see the interior" she replied with a wink leading us into the house

"Oh. My. Goodness" I said when I entered the house

I could tell the house was big from outside but not this big. The sitting room alone is bigger than the combination of our living and dining room back in America and trusts me, they were big. A glass which reached the north and south of the house was separating the sitting room from the dining opposite it but still left large access to the massive dining room which is times two of ours. Even though I could see the dining from the living room, I went towards the dining which also had the kitchen. A long counter was situated in-between the dining and kitchen but there is also space for access into the kitchen and out and this time on both sides. The dining table was sort of glasslike. It had a deep blackish blue color with flowers design on it along with two chairs at the edges
