Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

Mia's pov:

By the way, I'm not the only chef in that big restaurant. We actually are five chefs and ten co-chefs. Each chef has his two co-chefs for help. A Mexican chef 'Antonio', an Italian chef 'Alberto', a Chinese woman chef 'Chu Hua', a Turkish chef 'Aras' and the American chef which is me.

We all are close in age. I met them when I had travelled to their countries. They know that they have to keep my identity secret. As for the co-chefs, Angy made them sign a contract for me saying clearly that if they mention me being a chef here, they will lose everything they have. It's more like a threat but I have to. I can't take the risk of being exposed.

The waiters don't know me. They don't come to the kitchen because I made sure that one or two of the co-chefs take the food ordered outside the kitchen so the waiters can have it from there. With this, the only people who know that I'm the other owner of the restaurant with Angy are: me, Angy, mom and grandma. I have to hide myself otherwise things won't be good for me.

Now, it's 9pm when I got to my flat. I didn't go to mom's house because I had to see Angy and tell her what happened to calm me down. I won't die if I don't tell her everything that happens with me but I'll explode from anger right now if I don't.

Yeah, I'm still pissed off with Jason thinking I'm stalking him. "Why are you angry at that?" Angy asked after I told her what happened. "Because it's not true. Who is he to stalk him?"

"Uh?! Your crush?" she sounded uncertain but she was certain. "Yeah, but he doesn't know that." She closed her eyes and nodded in approval. "He does."

"Whatever, it's not like I like him to stalk him." I threw myself to the bed like I have no flexibility. "You do." She responded with the same calm air when I'm here mad as hell. Did I tell you she will calm me? Then hell I'm wrong. She only does that when the situation is serious.

"Thanks Angy, you can't imagine how much you're helping me right now." She chuckled. "You're always welcome Mia." She didn't take her eyes from her phone and kept texting and smiling. That's something.

"Who are you texting?" I raised my eyebrow and suspicion is clear in my voice. She rose her head looking at me biting her bottom lip and hesitating. "Huh?! Uh..." She was more like thinking and if I didn't know her I'd say she was looking for a lie. "You only do that when you are nervous. What are you hiding from me?" That caused her to roll her eyes. "I'm not hiding anything, I'm just not sure about this...yet."

That irritated me. "Since when do we wait to be sure? Spell it out before I take it out myself ." She left a breath I could hear. "Remember Mike Steven?" I nodded. I do remember him. The business man who made a big party for his sister two days ago. "He took my number and now he's texting me." She left in one breath like she did a crime and now admitting it.

I opened my eyes wide and blinked many times trying to make sure she said that. "Mike Steven? Like the Mike Steven who had the birthday party two days ago? Like the handsome rich Mike Steven?"

"Uhuh." Is all she said. The man she's talking about is so damn handsome, if I didn't meet Jason and he didn't bring back all the beautiful memories and the feelings I had for him, I'd fall for this Mike. He is that handsome.

Now I'm so excited that I jumped on Angy's bed hitting her but not enough to hurt her. "You b**ch. How come you didn't tell me this just right after it happened? You're literally talking about the handsome Mike Steven." Finally I got a reaction from her. "Why are you not stopping calling him handsome?" She pulled me away from her. "Because he is handsome?" I now doubt why she would ask that.

"Are you into him?" I didn't expect her to ask that especially after eating my brain with Jason. "What? No. Why would you ask that?" She shrugged. "I just want to make sure you don't. I know you wouldn't betray Jason." She gave me that relaxed expression of hers. "The guy could be married for God's sake."  She exasperates me when she does this.

"Did you see a ring in his finger?" I wasn't expecting that question. "No. I mean...I didn't notice." And there she is smiling evilly. "Come on Mia, you notice everything when it comes to him. If you didn't notice that means there isn't and if he was married with Emma, you wouldn't meet him alone. She'll be around. I really think they broke up."

Now I was thinking about it. "As much as I like it, it's so hard to believe they did." She went back to her texting but not before she does what she always does, teasing me. "I wonder why you like it. I thought you got over your crush on him and you don't like him, at all."

All I could do was roll my eyes and change the topic. "You better tell me every detail about Miky." That caused her to turn her head. "Miky?" Her expression is so funny right now. "What? I gave him a nickname." It was my turn to exasperate her. "Mia, we're just talking and...it's unfair how you give us nicknames when we can't." She thought for a moment. "How about...mimi?!"

"Hell no, don't even dare." She rolled her eyes. "Fine stop making a big deal of it."

Jason's pov:

"Strong and interesting."

"I'd say rude and arrogant." That's just me and Seb talking about Mia. Since we left the orphanage to the gym, he didn't stop talking about her. He's more like trying to convince me to like her. "Maybe she has a reason to be?!" That was more like a question. "I don't care. She's still rude."

"You'd form a great couple you know?! Why don't you just ask her out?" That's a stupid proposition. "I don't have energy and she clearly said she isn't interested in me." Seb doesn't stop trying to put me with every girl we meet, so now it's Mia's turn.

"Jason?!" I turned towards him. "You are thirty." He said it like it's a big deal. "And?"

"You can't die alone." Is that all what concerns him? "I won't. You're here to bury me." He stopped running on the treadmill and he was breathing heavily. "Fine. We're doing it the hard way then. You find yourself a girlfriend or I'm doing it for you."

"I will. Just not yet." I'm not scared of him but I need to stop him from eating my brain. Thank god he has a girlfriend who saves me from him.

It's 10pm and each one of us left home. I'm not working this week but still, I want to sleep, I feel tired. I was in Florida for the past few years before coming back to Texas as my dad asked. He wants me to take care of his hotel so I asked him for a free week before getting to work. I guess, I'm just going to mess around a bit with Seb. By messing around, I don't mean anything bad, I just missed the city.

Mia's pov:

"Angy, Hurry up." It's time to go to work and as always, Angy is late. I hate people being late. Many years of knowing each other I couldn't change this in her. I couldn't change anything in her in fact, just affecting her vocabulary and made her talk few things like me. It's contagious between friends.

"Angy, you're already beautiful. We're just going to work not to your wedding." I shouted again when she didn't answer me. "Maybe I'll meet my future husband. I need to look perfect." She never answers seriously. "Mike is coming?" Now whenever she'll talk about relationships or marriage , I'll mention Mike. "No, he's busy." The first serious answer I got from her for days now. "Someone is having something serious." She rolled her eyes. "Let's go, shall we?"

I already said that Angy doesn't like driving that's why we go together. We got to the restaurant at 1pm. Food takes time to be prepared and the restaurant gets open at 6pm. The waiters need to be two hours early to make sure all the tables are prepared and free to be reserved.

But Angy comes early to make sure everyone is doing his job. No one is absent. Nothing is missing and the most important thing, no one is having any problems. We make sure our workers are working in good conditions and they are satisfied. I hate letting her do all that alone. We go through some papers at home together but I can't help her here. No one knows I'm the other owner. Angy doesn't mind that though. She is a sweetie.
