Chapter 13 - Chapter 12:

Jason's pov:

We went to a nightclub after meeting with Emily. "I don't mind it for you. And I can take care of myself. You need to worry about yourself more." He drank half of the beer all at once.

"Emily? How did you accept him again? Because if I were you, I wouldn't handle him for a second." Emily left an ironic sigh. "This is love my dear Jason, I'm trapped." She made a sad face. "Ha. Ha. Ha. You both love me and you know that."Seb was annoyed.

After beers and chats and fun, we went to my future new flat. Seb's request of course. He wanted Emily to see it and give us her opinion. We got there at midnight. This guy won't wake up tomorrow for work, that's sure. It's his problem.

We had a small tour around it and showed it to Emily. She liked it. "What's that?" I asked Emily. We heard loud music. Damn, what is Seb doing?

"Seb? Turn the damn music off. I don't want the neighbours to call the cops before even I owe this flat." I shouted at him so he could hear me but he ignored me. Before I try again, I heard a hard bang on the door. Damn, I'm in trouble.

I just hope it's not the cops. I opened it to see a woman having her back facing me. She wore a pajama. Her long hair is still wet, probably she just had a shower. She could turn sick for coming out like this. It's still cold at night.

When she heard the door opens she turned. Anger clear on her face before she saw me, it turned to surprise. "You must be kidding me." I'm surprised to see her too but I asked something else. "Why are you always on the defensive and ready to kick someone. More like, ready to kick me?"

She was confused. "What?"

"Are you deaf?" I know she isn't but I like to mess with her. I like her reactions and the way she gets angry at me.

Are you serious right now? My subconscious questioned. I hate to admit it but I am.

"What?" Is 'what' all what she's going to say? "Why do you keep asking 'what' to everything I say to you?"

"That's because you're talking nonsense." She complained. What? She thinks I'm talking nonsense? I gave her the really-look then Emily showed asking why I took so long.

Mia's expression changed when she saw Emily. Do girls have a problem with each other? Why do they always look like they're on the edge to pull each other's hair and ready to tear each other whenever they meet?

Seb appeared from behind greeting Mia and being surprised. He was more surprised than he should be. I smell something wrong with him. Mia asked Seb to decrease the volume of the music. I can understand it bothered her.

She looked tired, probably from work. When Seb came back, he asked her if she lives here. 'Of course she lives here smart boy. Otherwise, what would she be doing in this state at midnight in front of my door?' I thought.

"Uh...yeah, this flat here is mine and my friend's." A friend? More like...a boyfriend? My thoughts were cut by Seb's surprise. "Wow! What a coincidence. So, you can attend Jason's party on Saturday so easily." Now I'm sure that Seb is hiding something.

If my senses are right, I bet he planned this. Coming up with the idea of buying a flat. Insisting on this one. Making things fast. Acting like he's surprised. Wait until she leaves and I'll show you bastard.

Wait? Did he mention a party? "What party?"

"Yours obviously!"

I started to get angry, I raised my eyebrow. "And when were you planning to tell me and invite me to MY party?" A voice of a woman cut us.

"Mia?! What are you doing there?" The woman came out from a fancy car. She wore a long green dress with a black coat. I couldn't see the dress clearly. She put her long hair on the side. A man came out from the car wearing a black suit. Probably her boyfriend.

The man left and the woman came to us. Mia introduced us. "Angy, this is Jason. Our...new neighbour." It's the first time I hear her same my name.

Angy's face turned to shock. Wait a second? She looks familiar too. "Guys, this is my best friend Angelina, the one living with me." Best friend? Right, they were together in high school too. I remember her from there. So it's female living with her not a man, nice.

Seb again invited Angelina to this stupid party I didn't even plan. Before I argue about it, Mia excused themselves and left. I closed the door giving a deadly glare to Seb. "Would you like to explain something?" He looked nervous. "Emily, we need to leave now. I have work tomorrow."

I shook my head blocking the door. "Not so fast. You better start explaining before I do something." He acted like he didn't understand.

"What do you mean?" I'm being so patient with him right now and he's taking advantage of that. "Maybe you should start with buying a new flat? NEXT TO MIA's?"

He shrugged. "Yeah, so what?" I'm going to kill this guy one day. I took a breath and calmed. "You planned all of this. What are you trying to do?"

"I told you we're doing it the hard way. You will thank me for it one day. Mark my words." He pointed at me with his index finger.

***********Next morning***********

I met with the owner and finished all the protocols. Now I owe a flat, thanks to Seb. And next to Mia's. I guess I'm going to meet her too much now. I was planning to stay away but thanks Seb, that's not very possible now.

Mia's pov:

Finally the week ended. I met Jason only once, when he was moving his stuff. Seb reminded Angy and I about the party. Angy tried to excuse herself because she had a date with Mike. I gave her the look of don't-leave-me-alone-please.

Seb insisted so she told him she had a date. I loved Seb in that moment, he invited Mike as well. Mike isn't a person who likes strangers and crowded places apparently but Angy convinced him. Looks like he's handling things just to please and be with her. He better does.

So it's Saturday. I went to mom's house as I do every weekend and Angy went to work. She didn't mention anything about the big guy. That means he didn't come back. Glad he didn't. I just hope it's not the calm before the storm. I don't want anyone getting harm because of me.

I wore a white wide neck sweater with a brown skirt. I matched them with long brown boots and a necklace grandma gave me. I put my hair in a tight bun as every time I go to work.

Grandma, mom and I cooked lunch. Every weekend we cook together and I teach them some of the recipes I learned. We cook, play and mess around while cooking. We try to spend as much time as we can together.

Later, we were watching our favourite show. I sat next to mom putting my head on her shoulder. It's crazy how light I feel whenever I put my head on her shoulder or she hugs me. I think that's a mother's super power.

I remembered that I'll be in Jason's party tonight so I won't come back home. "Mom, I'm not coming back tonight. I have a new neighbour who's throwing a party and I'm invited." Mom stopped caressing my cheek. "Do you have to go?"

"It won't be nice if I don't." She kept silent for seconds. "You're new neighbour is a woman or a man? Old or young? Committed or not?" Here we go again.

I pulled away and sighed. "A man, young and single." Mom always does this interrogation whenever I meet someone new she doesn't know. "Then you're not going." Does it surprise me? No.

"Mom, I'm 27years old." She looked at me faking surprise. "Really? I thought you were just 17. When did you grow up and became this old?" I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm. "You can go but you can't get into any relationship. I don't want you to end up like your grandma and I."

I left a complaining sigh and turned to grandma pleading her. "Grandma, please say something." She didn't take her eyes from the TV. "She's right Mia. If I knew this will happen to her too I wouldn't have let her be with your father. It's not that I'm not glad she gave birth to you but raising a child alone isn't easy."

Now it's two against one. "I don't mind ending up like you two. There's nothing wrong with your situation. You both have beautiful daughters. You two have a good house and a good job. And you two don't need them."
