Here is what happened last time on The Legends Of The Time Traveller
Dr. John is in my lab, and I explain my hypothesis of producing oxygen for us down here. Dr. John quickly shoots down the idea. He tells me that I need to focus on the project that the scientists have given me. My friend Terry Allen comes to visit me in the lab. He wants me to join him in the spring swimming with the girls. I take out the radio and start working on it. I connect a battery, and the radio makes a loud shhhh sound. I quickly take the battery out. I go to Mother Jenna to talk to her about the radio.
I leave Mother Jenna's room and head straight back to the lab. If she can show me how it works, maybe I can figure out how to use it. I walk in and start putting the radio back together. When I took the radio apart, my mind has created a blueprint of how to assemble it again. I have always had this gift. I give it a good clean-up as well to get all the dirt off of it. Once I am done assembling and cleaning the radio. I put it in the box and walk back to Mother Jenna's room.
In the corridor, I run into Sheila and Stacy. These are the two girls that Terry spoke of that we need to swim with later. Stacy smiles at me and ask;
"So, are you in for tonight? You know the spring at night is warm."
"Yes, I know, Stacy. It is because of the temperatures down here. It gets colder at night time, not that we know what day and night look like, anyway. But as the mine cools down, the water temperature feels like it is hotter, but it is actually still the same."
Stacy smiles and says;
"You are so hot when you talk about science stuff."
I feel my cheeks blushing. Stacy leans in and kisses me. She says;
"Hope that I will see you later."
Sheila pulls Stacy's arm and say;
"Excuse us. We are late. Come, Stacy."
I watch as they run off together. I wave at Stacy as she walks away from me smilingly. She is the most beautiful girl down here, and she has the hots for me. I snap out of the daydream and walk to Mother Jenna's room. I knock again and wait to hear her invite.
"Come in."
I open the door and walk-in. Mother Jenna smiles and says;
"You came back."
"Yes, I did say that I would."
She slowly sits up and says;
"Show it to me."
I put the box down and take it out. Mother Jenna's eyes light up as she holds the radio in her hands. She says;
"I have never thought that I would see anything like this again. This is a wonderful moment for me. Thank you, Michael. Back then, we had things like this to entertain ourselves. We listened to music, and music brought people together. It reminds me of the great times that we had and what we have lost. Anyway, hand me the batteries."
I give it to her, and she says;
"Let me just put the sound softer."
I stop her and ask;
"Sound softer?"
"Yes. This switch, if you pull it all the way to this side, you will not hear anything. But, if it is turned up to this side, it is going to be loud like you heard in the lab."
"So, you need to find the sound that you are comfortable with?"
"That is correct, Michael."
She puts the batteries in and tells me;
"This is so exciting for me."
She switches it on, and I hear the shhhh sound, but it is not that loud anymore. She says;
"Listen to the sound as I move the switch this way and that way."
She moves the switch, and the shhhh sound goes softer. She then moves it to the other side, and it gets louder. I smile and say;
"This is fantastic."
Mother Jenna tells me;
"This sound you are hearing is called static. Now, if there are radio towers still transmitting, this antenna would capture the signal, and the music will come out of the speakers."
I look at her totally intrigued and say;
"So, the music came from the station, and everyone listening to that station heard the same song being played?"
"Yes, indeed, Michael."
She opens a section, and I get a fright. She laughs and says;
"Don't worry. It will not bite. Now, this is where you put a CD in, and you could listen to your own music whenever you wanted."
"CD?"
"CD is short for a compact disc. You burned music on the CD, and then you would listen to your song."
"So, they used fire to burn it in?"
She laughs silly at me and says;
"No, silly. No, people used computers, and that burned the music with a laser. If you look closely, you see that small round blue button that looks like a magnifying glass, that is a laser."
"And you burn things with it?"
Mother Jenna says;
"I am not sure if you can burn things with it, but you burned the songs onto the disc."
"That is great. I will have to experiment with it."
She laughs and says;
"Here is your radio, Michael. And thank you for showing it to me. Your secret is safe with me."
"Thank you, Mother Jenna, for explaining to me how it works. I am so excited to test this out and to find out what I can do with it."
I put the radio back into the box and walk to the door. She tells me;
"Come visit me again soon, you hear."
I nod at her and say;
"I will. You have a good rest now, okay?"
"Thank you, Michael."
