Here is what happened last time on The Legends Of The Time Traveller
The five of us are hiding behind the water distribution system while listening to the footsteps of Dr. Johan and the unknown woman walking away. The other four with me start questioning if I know what Dr. Johan and the woman are talking about, about things becoming worse down here. I get angry and walk away from them and walk to my lab. I start working on the air filtration and purification system. I decide to do the experiment and meet Dr. John in the corridor, where he gives me a white rock.
I stand there with the bottles of water under my arm and the white rock in my hand. I look at Dr. John and ask;
"I understand why everyone wants me to have this rock, but why does it feel so wrong excepting it?"
"I have explained to you why, so I am not sure why you are asking me this? And what is that under your arm?"
"Just bottles of water."
He looks at me suspiciously and asks me;
"You still remember our previous conversation, don't you?"
I give him half shrug with my shoulder and say;
"And to which of the conversations are you revering to?"
He smiles and says;
"Never mind, Michael. It is late. You get some sleep, and we will talk again in the morning."
I nod confidently and say;
"Yes. I will get some sleep."
I hold out my hand with the rock and say;
"Thank you for this. I will not let you down."
He smiles and replies;
"I know you won't. Good night, Michael."
He turns to walk away from me. I also turn around and see someone standing there behind me. I drop the two bottles of water as I get a fright and say;
"What?"
I see that it is Terry. With his head is lowered while looking to the ground. He is playing with the tip of his shoe with the dirt looking all innocently. He says to me with a cracking voice;
"I...I am sorry."
I slowly put my hand in my pocket to hide the white rock. I swallow and say nervously;
"What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't sleep until I had a chance of apologizing to you."
I pick up the water bottles and say;
"Well, then that is your problem, Terry."
I walk past him, and he says;
"You are a brother to me, please, Michael. Can you listen to what I have to say?"
I stop in my tracks and say;
"Fine. Say what you need to say."
"We are all sorry. We know that you would tell us if you knew what was going on down here. We know that we hurt you, please can you forgive us? Please forgive me?"
I let my anger go, and my mood lightens. I turn to look at Terry and walk close to him while keeping eye contact and saying;
"You can not tell anyone what you heard Dr. Johan and the unknown woman talking about."
He looks at me surprised and says;
"Why?"
"Think of it like this. What if someone says that you have The Blood Plague. Do you think that everyone would act normal around here?"
He laughs as he answers;
"Hahaha. There is no way that I will get The Blood Plague down here."
He sees that I am not amused at his reply. He quickly answers my question;
"No. Everyone will not act normal."
"And do you think that people will react irrationally down here, not just around you but maybe even trying to get out of here?"
"Yes, maybe."
"And by trying to get out of here, they will put everyone else's life at risk down here."
It is like I can see his thoughts as the lights come on in his brain the moment he understands what I am trying to tell him. I see a sudden flare of joy as he replies;
"I understand now what you mean! Okay, I will talk to the girls."
"If they do not understand, send both of them to me so that I can explain to them myself before word gets out, okay?"
"Yes. I understand."
I regain my grip on the two bottles and walk back to my lab. Terry asks me;
"Do you forgive me, Michael?"
I reply loudly;
"Do I really need to say the actual words? Fine. I forgive you. You are still my best friend." I walk to the kitchen to get a big rock of salt to help with my experiment.
Once I have the salt I need, I walk back to my lab. The first thing I do I start drawing the experiment of what I need and how to do it correctly and safely. I walk over to the bin and grab the roll of wiring. I cut two long pieces off. I strip the ends and pour the two bottles of water into a large glass cylinder. I set up the experiment. I turn and look at the drawing to make sure everything is correct. I run the one pipe that will collect the Hydrogen to the air compressor. I need the compressor to accumulate the Hydrogen and also to compress it for me.
I walk to my lab doors, close them and turn the door lock. I do not need someone to open the doors while I am in the middle of my experiment. I start the electric current. The moment I see the bubble start forming, I start the air compressor. I look at the gauge to check if I am collecting the Hydrogen. The needle slowly starts moving. I could hardly contain my happiness. Once most of the water has been boiled for the experiment, I stop the air compressor and the electrical current.
Now, I need to test if I have collected the Hydrogen. I turn the knob to open the flow. I gather a sample and bring it close to an open flame. As the end of the bottle comes close, it sets off a big explosion. I wave my hand a few times through the air as the discharge hurts my hand. A sudden flare of joy arises, and I run around my lab, jumping for joy. I say out loud;
"Yessss! That is Hydrogen, baby! Yeah! Whooo!"
I stop celebrating for a moment as I come to the realization, on the other pipe, pure oxygen escaped out of that side. That is what we need down here, pure oxygen. If only I could learn how to compress the Hydrogen even more, maybe I can create more oxygen for us to breathe. Seeing that I can contain Hydrogen, I can fill the old oxygen cylinders and distribute them. While still in thought, someone is knocking on my lab door. I look at the experiment, wipe the board clean. I unlock the door and open it slowly to see who it is. Sarah rushes through the doors out of breath. I look down the hall and close the door. I hand her a glass of water and say;
"What is wrong? Are you okay?"
She drinks the entire glass while trying to catch her breath. She says;
"You have to come with me."
Surprized at her request, I ask her;
"Why? What is going on? Where do you want to take me?"
"I found something. Something that I can only show you. Remember I told you that I found a new section."
"Yes. I remember. Go on."
"There is some electronic equipment in that shaft. It has doors and stuff all over. I could not make sense of what is what down there."
"What? Is there anyone around?"
"No. It is dusty, and no one is around. It looks abandoned."
"I can not follow you, sus. People will miss me."
"Then, you have to come with me tomorrow evening. It is a big find. Maybe what you need to solve our problems down here is in that shaft."
The scientist in me is curious to see what she is talking about finding. I ask her;
"How far is this shaft?"
"About thirty minutes."
I stand there thinking for a moment. I look at the whiteboard to the air filtration and purification system that I need to design. The equipment could be what I need to find to help me with the project. I weigh up my options, and I look at Sarah. I tell her;
"Fine. I will join you tomorrow night. But only for tomorrow night, okay?"
She pumps her fist in the air of excitement as she says;
"Yesss! You will not be disappointed at all. And brother..."
I look at her and ask;
"Yes?"
"We are going to need a few more flashlights."
