Chapter 51 - Job hunting fails again.

Simon smiled a little, there was still frustration behind the smile. Then he retorted,

"Yeah, I regret it a little, they are rich, and I could have easily lived a comfortable life while continuing the life of the person I transmigrated into. But just as you said, am ain't willing to continue the person's life. And I need to strive to achieve my dream of becoming a footballer. Yeah, I could have stayed with the Lewis family and achieve my dream of becoming a footballer, but they knew what their son was aspiring to become in the future before he went into coma, so why the change of heart now?

And men, I want no hindrance in achieving what I have passion for. So, even now that things are not working out well for us, I don't regret it that much".

James nodded his head in understanding and rested his body fully on the chair he was sitting on and said to Simon,

"I wanna go to sleep now, I am feeling a bit sleepy already, I'm really tired", Then he sighed, "Going to sleep on a hungry stomach, well, that's how life is sometimes. You know the plan tomorrow, right?".

"What plan? Is it the job stuff?". Simon inquired a bit confused.

"Yeah, it's the job stuff. We gonna continue with the job hunting tomorrow, I'll definitely die if I don't eat something tomorrow. So we must have to find a daily paying job tomorrow, we must hold some cash in our hands tomorrow".

"Understood".

With that, James rested his head and closed his eyes, and within some minutes, he had dozed off. Simon didn't sleep immediately, he just sat on that chair thinking about what tomorrow would hold for them. Would they find a job tomorrow? After he was done thinking, he rested his body well on the chair, rested his head, closed his eyes, and within some minutes also, he had slept off.

The next day, James was the first person to wake up, he glanced at Simon who was still deep in sleep. James placed his palms on his stomach, it was rumbling like badly, he was feeling really hungry. He could even feel his eyes turning a little, he'll most likely faint if he doesn't eat something today. He tapped Simon on the shoulder while uttering,

"Simon, wake up, we gotta go job hunting again".

Simon opened his eyes, and the first thing he did after that was to place his palms on his head...he was feeling slight headache. The cause of the headache was 'cause of the hunger he was feeling, he could feel his eyes turning also, but it wasn't as much as James' own.

"You feeling headache?". James asked Simon noticing that he placed his palms on his head.

"Yeah, slight headache, I think it's 'cause of the hunger I am feeling". Simon explained.

"I am also feeling very hungry right now, but my head doesn't ache, instead, my eyes are turning, everything around me is turning a little. Am not sure I'll be able to make it if I don't eat something today".

"As for me, I'll faint if nothing enters my stomach for today. I can also feel my eyes turning a little". Simon stated.

James managed to stand up from the chair he was sitting on, "We'll just have to keep searching for a job though we aren't strong enough. If we stay here, we'll die of hunger, we gotta keep searching hoping someone would feel empathy for us".

The both of them took their toothbrushes from their backpacks and stick toothpaste on them. Then they got down from the bus and started brushing their teeth at a certain spot. After brushing, they went back onto the bus and changed into new clothes. They wouldn't be able to take their baths 'cause it wasn't possible to do so. Simon put on some of those outfits he took at the building he was taken to, and they really looked good on him.

After dressing, they got down from the bus and began sauntering out of the deserted area. You know, they couldn't even sight a single soul around this area...it was really deserted. They strolled until they started seeing people, they had arrived at the boulevard where people were residing. The both of them kept wondering why people deserted that area. Was there some kind of plague lurking around that place?

The both of them didn't wake early 'cause of the way they roamed about yesterday in search of a job, they were tired. James didn't wake early before waking Simon, so if he hadn't woken Simon, Simon would have woken late. They were managing to walk 'cause they were weak, the hunger was making them weak...especially James, he didn't eat anything at all yesterday.

James staggered from time to time as he sauntered, but he made sure not to fall. Now, they were about to begin searching for a job even though they were weak. Would the outcome be as yesterday's own? Would anyone feel empathy for them and employ them? They were really anxious as to what the outcome would be. They decided to try out restaurants once again, but they would make sure not to enter the ones they entered yesterday.

They entered the first restaurant they found along the boulevard they were strolling in. And they told one of the waiters their reason for coming, the waiter immediately directed them to the owner of the restaurant, and they met with her. They told her their reason for coming, and she rejected them immediately. She took them for crooks, and she said they were feigning their hunger.

They strolled out of the restaurant in disappointment, this was all that was happening to them yesterday...and it had started repeating itself. They strolled for some minutes again and found another restaurant, opened the glass door, and entered it. Guess what happened when they told the restaurateur their reason for coming...they got rejected again.

And so it kept on going, from restaurant to restaurant and from boulevard to boulevard. They made sure not to enter the restaurants they entered yesterday, and so they kept on getting rejected...no one was feeling empathy for them. Was this a curse or something? Why was no one willing to employ them, why? They had to find a chair along the street to sit on 'cause they could faint. They could feel the rumbling of their stomachs more than before, their hunger was increasing.

"The same thing is repeating itself, James". Simon said to James.

"Yeah, and it's making me really afraid, we might actually not eat something today".

That statement shocked Simon a little, he thought about what could happen to them if they don't eat anything for today too. They could either faint or most likely, sleep and not wake up again.

"We've only tried out restaurants for today, let's try out other places, you know, like bars and so on making sure not to enter the ones we entered yesterday". Simon uttered.

The both of them managed to stand up from the chair and began sauntering once again. There was something the both of them hadn't realized yet, things didn't have plans of going their way. They found a large food store, entered it, and told the people in it their reason for coming, but they got rejected once again. And so it kept on going, from bars to food stores to hotels and so on, they kept on trying and kept on getting rejected.

By now, the both of them were very weak, they were f**king hungry, they were f**king tired, their eyes were turning like badly. It was afternoon already getting close to mid-afternoon, that's to show how long they had been walking about searching for a job. They found a chair to sit on along the street once again, they might fall and faint if they don't sit to rest their body a little.

"Seems like we'll truly die of hunger". James uttered to Simon the moment they sat down.

"That's true, we died in our real bodies, now we are about to die in the bodies we transmigrated into". Simon stated.

"This world has turned into something else, people really do lack empathy. It's a bad thing to be homeless and in need of help, that woman even took us for crooks and said that we were feigning our hunger. Like, what the f**k. No wonder criminals are increasing daily. No one is willing to render help anymore, just a few". James voiced out releasing out his frustration and anger.

The both of them were so hungry that they could even hear the rumbling of each other's stomachs.
