Chapter 17 - The Kidnapping

To increase the influence and scope of their foundation, Young Master Fu and Young Mistress Liu have been working nonstop.

They had formed new alliances and initiatives, and they were significantly improving the lives of several city residents.

Nonetheless, they couldn't help but feel that something was lacking despite their achievements.

Together, they had established the foundation, and through time, they had developed and changed.

Yet aside from the basics, they had never really talked about their personal lives, hopes, or aspirations.

Young Master Fu made the risky decision one day to bring up the matter.

He questioned Young Mistress Liu about her family, her background, and her aspirations.

She surprised him by opening up to him in a manner that she had never done before.

She described her parents to him, describing how they had sacrificed much to support her and her brothers, and how she had always believed it was important to give back to the neighbourhood.

Her aspirations for the future were also discussed.

She wanted to develop the foundation further, but she also hoped to someday create her own family, have kids, and teach the following generation the morals and principles she had learnt.

Young Master Fu listened carefully as he had feelings of understanding and connection with her that he had never experienced before.

He expressed his own aspirations, and the two of them conversed until the wee hours of the morning, exchanging ideas and anecdotes as they grew closer.

They worked together on the foundation in the days and weeks that followed, but they also found time to discuss their personal lives and future plans.

They started to view one another differently, as confidantes and friends rather than just partners or coworkers.

They were filled with thankfulness and satisfaction as they saw the metropolis below.

They understood that they were in this together, that they had each other's backs, and that they were actually changing the world.
