Ashdeer POV
Sparade
I looked at the water rippling in the darkness from our boat. The night was dead and still, as it moved slowly across the water. I had placed wards of silence across the boat and the silence was blessed.
I looked at Tara, who stared into the distance, as we looked at the twinkling lights of the villages on the banks. We were moving slowly, now, and the bigger houses had given way to smaller ones. On the one side, loomed the Military quarters of Sparade's generals, and on the other were tiny villages. There were also large sheds this side. Factories and warehouses for the makers of arms, exquisite furniture and cloth mills. A good place to hide an army.
