Chapter 57 - Trade

Although he hasn't stated what he wanted from me in place for the exotic tree I know I had it over my head. I went ahead and leave getting over the list of items I have for the spell to work; a personal belonging of hers I had a whole bag of it, sapphire salt can be found easily. I sat back in the bed and took a book off the bedside that had been sitting there just to relieve my boredom; it was a book about the diversity of the supernatural community. I flipped the first page and the second to find the first volume; I was the kind of person that hardly read any book summary or preface. The first volume was titled 'Domain gremlin', my brows furrowed as I read the title before I started reading; the chapter was further subdivided into four; Vampires, werewolves, witches and humans. Each part was taken and further expanded, it was broad and in details; just as I was done with the introduction of the being that might have walked the earth first and how the vampires came to; which was all mistaken by humans.

They didn't come to as a curse or feeding from strange beings but they actually formed just like humans did; they were as original as every specie. Just as I was intrigued by that and wanted to know more a knock on my door forced me to dig up my nose from the book, another knock sounded again and I was forced to answer

"Yes, come in"

"Your lordship," I heard her youthful voice echo into my room; it was Marcos's secretary

"Please proceed" I said with a welcoming tone to ease her frantic feeling towards me, she still hesitated before coming forward to the bed, I closed the book I was reading and stayed in bed afraid that if I was to rise she might faint without delivering the message.

"Master Marcos has a message for you" she retreated both her hands shaking with the folded paper in them, she lowered her head again and I couldn't help it but smirk at how she was reacting to my presence. I pushed out of the bed and took the paper out of her hand saying

"Thank you," As she was about to leave I stopped her placing a hand on her shoulder

I said, "I'm not going to hurt you, you can rest assure" she nodded hurriedly leaving the room, I unfolded the message and saw that it was an invitation.

Dinner at midnight

Don't be late

I glanced at the clock up against the wall, it reads 10:30pm and there was time for me to get ready and not let him drown me into something I couldn't keep with. As I sat back down into the bed the door opened unannounced, looking up I locked eyes with him easily. I took the book in my hands again while the door closed

"Why are you here?" I asked as I started reading again

"To talk" Cassuis answered evenly proceeding towards the bed

"What about?"

"Everything" I looked up from my book and although I wasn't ready to entertain him, I suddenly became curious. I closed the book again and stared straight at him

"Everything──Is this about the claim?"

"You know what the claim does?"

"You are answering my question with a question" I was feeling a little bit uneasy at the look in his eyes and the easiness in his tone.

"Do you have knowledge about the claim?" he emphasized

"Yes a little bit, I'm bonded to you" I said in a low voice

"It's much deeper than that," he said stepping closer to me while I stood to my feet

"Like what?"

"It's not just you have me, but everything that's within me. Your kind of claim has an effect as strong as that of mates, you realize what that means?" he stared blankly at me again stepping closer

"It means I will be attracted to you, all the hatred I had for you now are forced down. By no means had I ever felt estrange with my resolve to seek revenge from your kind and now my only goal is to keep you in my arms" It felt strange on every level to hear that from Cassuis's mouth, I felt thick heavy saliva pass down my throat with such a force to stop my breathe. I was forced out of words and my mouth hang opened

"Cassuis──" I started before he cut me off

"You don't need to speak," He glanced down at the bed to see the book and note laid there

"You are finally learning about us"

"Yes, I have got ample of time since prince Orpheus isn't here presently and Jake is──"

"What about him?"

"I thought you've known about the conference prince Orpheus is attending at─"

"What about Jake?" I initially thought he was talking about Lord Orpheus but he seemed oddly interested about Jake. I sat back down in the bed sighing inwardly

"Jake is….Uhhmm──Kai escaped from imprisonment after Maya's death, Jake tracked after him hopefully to bring him back to us in one piece" he sat beside me silently placing a hand over mine that was resting on my lap

"He will; he is a strong Alpha" he encouraged; I laughed nervously moving my hand away from his touch. The room sank in awkward silence again before he grabbed the note off the book

"What's this?" he asked opening It up before I pulled it out of his grip he'd already read it. I saw a wall of protection build rapidly in his eyes

"It's nothing just a friendly catch up"

"Then you wouldn't mind me joining" My mouth hang opened but I couldn't speak a word, there was no stopping him

"Ok then I shall get ready and meet you at your door" I took his leave while I cursed under my breath quite sure he heard it. I changed into something casual, a short sleeve blouse and a skinny jeans, I wasn't planning to have any dinner rather hit straight on when I would acquire what I needed and what he's taking in turn.

The time read 11:30am; I knew just how early he could be especially when he had interest so I decided to ditch him just as I pulled opened the door he was standing right there in something I had never seen him before. He wore a plain cotton shirt over it a russet jacket and an off white khakis and his hair wasn't pulled back and set as usual but roughed a bit.

"It's a friendly gathering,"
