Tonight couldn't have been more beautiful. Everybody was shocked at The Weaver's appearance even with the scornful looks they were graced with, nobody dared to speak bad of them in fear they might be in Lord Bramford's bad books and nobody wanted that after hearing of his many favors.
All the Lords that will not look at her after the news of her father's scandal could not take their eyes off Nesta for the entire night. She was sure the other ladies hate her more now than ever but nobody dared to show it, they only offered her their smiles.
She could also see the other lords making conversation with her father out of the corner of her eyes while she was dancing in Quinn's arms, she made sure she kept her eyes on him because looking at her father is the only way she could concentrate and not do anything rash given her situation and how long it has been since she has been in this close proximity with Quinn.
Having his arms around her waist was building so much emotions within her, it was like her body was on fire with the amount of spark that lit up in her.
She tried not to maintain eye contact with him because that was the only way she could keep her sanity as his eyes were on her the entire time and they burned, she could literally see the embers in them. How was a dignified lady supposed to deal with that? she thought.
After they finished dancing, they made a small bow to each other as they walked away from the dancing floor.
Quinn collected two glasses of drinks for the two of them as they continued to make conversation.
"Thank you for tonight once again, Lord Bramford. I haven't seen my father this happy in a while.
The scandal really got to him, none of these people would talk to him not to talk of doing business with him and now they all want to know of your deal together and that is because of you.
They know they cannot afford to offend him as that would mean offending you." Nesta explained as she looked towards where her father was standing with the other lords.
"Your father is a good man, Lady Weaver. Scandal or not, he deserves the best. I know that because I have worked with him and he is a man of integrity, I mean he alone raised such a beautiful woman that I know of." Quinn said amusedly.
"Is there any other lady my father raised that I am unaware of?" Nesta asked clearly knowing of his intentions to mess with her but decided to play along with him, liking this playful side of him. Lord Branford is not the all serious type of man, he jokes around from time to time but he doesn't outrightly tease her like he is doing now and she can say she quite likes this side of him.
"Ohh, she has the most alluring eyes I have ever seen and a beautiful name, Nesta." He said, making her smile broaden.
"You do know how to flatter my lord, that I will give to you." Nesta said smiling.
"Lord Bramford, Nesta, my darling." her father said, walking over to them. "You two seem to be enjoying yourselves. I must say, Lord Bramford, this is really a nice ball you've got going here." Lord Weaver said with a glass of champagne in his hands.
"Yes we are, your daughter is quite the company you want to keep, my lord." Quinn said, looking over at Nesta, making the deepest shade of pink appear on her cheeks.
"That's good to hear, Lord Bramford, she was always the life of the party before my unfortunate incident that almost ruined her.
Thanks for having us tonight." Lord Weaver solemnly said, looking over at his dear daughter who held his hands in hers.
"Father, you know you should not say all these things. These people are not worth it." She was saying to her father when the group of ladies she once called friends made their way to where they were standing.
"Lord Weaver, Lady Weaver, it is so nice to see you both again after such a long time." Lady Elayne said curtsying to Lord Weaver while nodding towards Nesta.
"Thank you Lady Elayne, nice to know we were missed." Lord Weaver replied when it didn't seem like his daughter was ready to say anything.
"You still look lovely as always, Lady Weaver." Lady Diana said, looking Nesta up and down.
"Seeing as we were all friends in the past, we would not be asking too much for a personal introduction from you, right Lady Nesta?" Lady Shirley asked, nodding towards Lord Bramford after being nudged by Lady Diana, an action that was not missed on her part.
It was then she understood why they packed themselves and came to meet her but they were in for a surprise if they thought she would be at their beck and call and do their bidding this time.
When Quinn saw the look she gave them and knew she would not be making any introduction, he decided to say something since he does not want to embarrass the young ladies at his ball.
"I am Lord Quinn Bramford, Earl of Castleberry, my ladies. Thank you for gracing my household with your honourable presence tonight" He said to them and nodded while he faced Lord Weaver.
"My Lord, may I ask to escort Lady Weaver to the garden for fresh air, she doesn't seem to be doing good. Maybe some alone time would help calm her down." He said to her father while he nodded his approval.
"Yes, she doesn't seem well. Thank you for taking care of her, Lord Bramford." Nesta's father said as he watched him lead his daughter outside the room. Turning towards the ladies still standing, he gave them a nod in greeting and walked away to find himself another glass of champagne.
