Chapter 27 - Stolen moments

She closed her eyes and a light moan escaped her lips at his actions forgetting for a moment that she was in a room full of watchful eyes.

The sound of a glass breaking snapped her out of her trance and they both looked up to see Lady Diana glaring daggers at them dancing while she did not notice that she just accidentally knocked out the waiter carrying a glass of champagne.

"Apologies, my lady." the waiter said as he moved to get the mess cleaned up. Lady Diana huffed loudly and angrily as she made her way outside.

"Now, that is a jealous look I spot on Lady Diana's face." Quinn mentioned as he led Nesta away from the dance floor afraid he had exhausted her for the night.

"Of course, she is jealous. I never knew her to be this hateful but since the scandal it has been most shocking to know that I do not have her support.

You know I actually thought maybe it was because of her parents that she has kept her distance and refused to see me but now I know she has been jealous right from the onset. Such hateful people!!!"

Nesta said, expecting herself to be upset from Lady Diana's reaction but she found no element of anger in her at all.

She could not help but be happy she is the cause of her uneasiness, and this is all because of the attention Quinn was giving her.|

She looked up at him and smiled, "thank you for a memorable night, my lord. I had a wonderful experience for my first appearance in society after such a long time.

Even my father is happy and free tonight." She said looking at her father that was making his way towards them.

"Nesta, darling, you will have to head back first. Lord Quinn and I have some business to discuss." Her father said informing her of his delay.

"Alright Father, I will head back first. Come back quickly." she said to him as he turned back to arrange for her carriage while she turned to face Quinn to say her goodbyes.

"My Lady, I must say it is a pleasure being in your wonderful presence tonight. And a more greater honor being the only male allowed, that has made me quite happy." He said to her, making her smile.

"Well, they are not worth it, they had their chance but they missed it." She said with so much pride in her voice while Quinn smiled too.

"Goodnight, my Lord." She said to him and curtseyed

"Goodnight, my lady, I will see you tomorrow." Quinn also said giving her a small bow.

Nesta couldn't stop grinning and she had Lillian worried because she has a suspicion of where her mistress and friend's happiness seem to come from and she wondered what the Lord Bramford has done to charm her away this time again.

"Lillian, I know you may not agree or still be apprehensive about Lord Bramford but I am convinced at this point that he is the man for me. I have finally found my match." She said excitedly.

"Now, now, let's take it slow. You don't even know if the man has any intentions of asking for your hand. What happened at the ball?" Lillian asked

Nesta went ahead to relay the events of the night since their arrival at the ball and the little charade by her friends and how Quinn tried to calm her down.

She paused a little and looked at her before she unfold the next set of events that happened.

"What happened next?" Lillian asked, looking up at her as she helped her out of her gown. Praying it is not what she was thinking.

"I know you might not approve but he asked for my father's permission before he led me outside so there is nothing anybody would think since he asked for my father's permission in front of everybody."

She said trying to stop the turning wheels inside her head. "Lord Bramford and I shared a kiss." She said dreamily while touching her lips and smiling as she recalled how his lips felt on hers, wanting more already.

Lillian stopped for a moment, sighed and looked at Nesta, "So what next? after this kiss would you go around stealing little moments like that hiding away from everybody?" she asked as she turned around to put her dresses away.

Nesta stopped smiling as she thought about what Lillian said. She never gave it much thought, she just wanted to be in the moment and never let go of it.

She hopes he fancies her enough to ask for her hand. She was still thinking about this when a thought crossed her mind, nobody has ever done such but she doesn't think she will accept any man at this stage if Quinn does not marry her.
