Chapter 5 - Aiden Discovers His Power [Aiden]

The night swallowed every light except the flicker of the purified water.

Four fountains were allocated in the magnificent garden of Aiden's mansion. The smell of incense filled his nostrils as the lord, lady, and few guards gathered behind him. It was time for Aiden to choose his power since he was born with a special one – Void. It means he had no ability and was like clay, able to shape into any form.

These fountains were the source of energy for all sorcerers with void power.

Sorcerers were designated into five categories:

1. Nature – They control water, fire, air, earth, ice, thunder, sand, etc.

2. Healing – They work only with living beings, regenerating, rehydrating, nourishing them. Restructuring, mending their fractured bones, pacifying their horrified mind, etc. They also fuse various types of herbs, medicines, and concoctions.

3. Unbreakable – The warriors and witches/wizards. This category is unique and unparalleled as only ten warriors are known to the world. These ungifted people can work on themselves, their minds, bodies, martial arts skills, mixing poisons, designing monster toys, befriending animals, etc., and represent a danger to other capable sorcerers. That's why most alchemists despise them. They create their own talent, which can prevail remaining ones.

4. Destruction – The destructors are the most formidable and calamitous league of them all. The name suggests its meaning as they aim to demolish. It includes: evoking dread and horror in the enemy, surging unendurable pain through them, explosions, crushing only the living beings bodies by creating different scenarios of damaging their internals or externals and controlling their blood, dominating negative emotions, detecting enemy's weaknesses, and making it hinderer by a certain percentage.

5. Shifters – wolf, eagle, dog, fox, and other animal form shifters. The name 'Shifters' is pretty self-explanatory.

6. UB(Unique Bonus) – The bonus magic which anyone can possess along with their original abilities. This category consists of reading minds, controlling minds, telekinesis, teleportation, mirror, predicting the future, etc. But everything to a certain degree.

The abilities have their limitations, and their degree hinges on the power itself and the rank of the sorcerer.

There are levels in each category measured by numbers from 1 to 10 plus the rank of their luck from 'A' to 'J.' Luck is essential in many cases.

Aiden was honored to have the right to choose the category of his ability.

"Oh dear god! Amon!"

The burly man with white hair beside Loren glared at her with a rebuke in his blue eyes. Amon was clutching her cold fingers in his calloused hands as his heart was beating so fast he could almost envision it bursting out of his chest.

"He told you not to mention the bloody gods. So shut it, Loren!"

"Alright, honey. If our boy chooses the healing like me or controlling the fire like you, I will be the happiest mother alive!"

"Shut up, sweety."

"Oh, sorry."

Aiden stood tall on 6ft 1 as he eyed the glowing fountains with an emotionless face. He was built well, not too bulky but not fragile either. He was a slender young man with the right amount of muscle on him. His silky dress shirt highlighted his broad shoulders and collarbones.

Aiden was hardly discerned from the luxury statues spread in the garden.

The green fountain could gift a person the power of – nature, blue – healing, red–destruction, and yellow–shifter.

He strolled towards the red fountain – Destruction and Loren gasped audibly as she abhorred the idea of her son becoming a bloodthirsty destructor. Amon clutched her hands to soothe her jitters.

In a surprise, Aiden strode in the direction of the green fountain.

Aiden wet his hands in the jade liquid, and instantly shadows started to loom over the scene. He ventured and gulped the glowy water from his hands.

Shadows engulfed him as he felt the whole garden started to spin. Aiden fell on his knees as he grasped his locks and groaned in pain. His throat throbbed, and skin started to tear apart; blood oozed from his body, and a stream of it created a sticky pool on the ground.

His hair was transforming into a snow-white color as the process progressed. This renewal was unanticipated and shocking for the whole audience.

Aiden shot a scream into the night as Loren let out a squeal and kneeled. Amon squatted with her to hold her tight in his arms. The lord's nostrils were flaring at the sight of his only son being tormented.

Aiden rolled onto the ground, splashing his blood in every direction. He shrieked in agony and shut his eyes as he was burning alive.

The soldiers couldn't withstand the sight any longer and avoided their gazes from the miserable thing in blood bathe. Loren cried out as the stream of tears rolled down her high cheekbones. She thought this terror would never end, but Aiden stopped the holler and lay in his blood.

"Amon, please! We have to help him! Please! He is your son, for fuck's sake!"

Loren wriggled and thrashed in her husband's arms as the lady was tortured each passing second.

"Please, honey. Endure it just a little longer."

"I can't! He is my...."

Before she could finish the sentence, Aiden was rising to his feet as he stumbled from imbalance. His hair was shining white with a blue glow. He shot his mother the multicolored eyes and smiled weakly.

Soon water droplets slid down the lord's face as he looked upwards and slowly expanded his hand.

"It's raining," Amon announced, and everyone stared at the sky before gazing at the boy.

Loren reluctantly raised her head and shut her eyes in delight when the rain droplets collided with her already damp face.

"Water! Young lord has got the water!" One of the guards exclaimed as the others accompanied him and clapped for Aiden.

Amon smiled at his son and got up to reassure him but halted in the place. The lightning struck and flashed the surroundings. The thud made everything shake as it could be heard from miles away.

The soldiers ducked as they yelped and shouted for the lord, but he was standing there, unmoving, speechless.

"Thunder," Aiden corrected them as another bolt blasted the tree on the hill from a distance.

The young lord was proudly smiling as he thought to himself, 'Now the only thing I need is a solid army.'
