==========
These were the base stats of a human archer. Elves were actually better archers than humans, however, elves did not exist in this server. Plus, no race was at a disadvantage against another race overall.
Being a new character, the Axel was given 5 stat points, and 1 skill point. Without wasting any time, Axel put 2 into strength, 1 into awareness, 1 into Agility and 1 into physique. This also increased his dependent stats:
HP: 10 > 11
Defence: 2 > 3
Attack: 2 > 4
Range: 6 > 7
Balance: 3 > 4
Jump: 2 > 3
Search: 2 > 3
Movement Speed: 5 > 6
Attack Speed: 5 > 6
In Evolution Online, with each level up, you are given 1 stat point to put into any of the basic stats, which directly affect the dependent stats. They can also be gained through the rewards of certain quests. Skill points, on the other hand, are extremely rare. They can only be gained through luck, and are essentially, drugs for skills. Normally, you would have to grind away at using a particular skill to either deal enough damage, heal enough damage, or use it enough for that particular skill in order for it to rank up. However, with a skill point, you can skip an entire rank without any grinding required. They were so rare, that the moment an item that gave skill points appeared in the auction house —even back when Axel had reached level 160 and could be considered one of the elites in the game within the top 10,000 in the entire federation— it would be instantly bought at sky-high prices.
After thinking about it for a good second or two, Axel used the point and upgraded Marksman.
Beginner Marksman > Intermediate Marksman (+10 Range + 2 Attack)
At the earlier levels, range was something that was the life-blood of archers, damage being secondary, similar to how healing was the most important for priests at lower levels, with buffs and debuffs coming into play once their party members can survive an attack from the enemy at later levels.
Just like that, all his stats and skills had been accounted for. All of a sudden, the status screen, along with the darkness around him, vanished. The next moment, a cutscene appeared.
