Twenty minutes later all four of them were standing at the parking of Mr. Daysons' house. A long line of expensive cars lined the parking lot, letting them know that many people have already arrived.
"I hope we're not late," Patrick said as he got out of the Porsche, adjusting his tie. Dorin got out of the passenger side, a silver clutch packed neatly in her left palm. Derek matched his dad's suit, a black tuxedo with a bow tie. Trinity wore a sweetheart neckline red gown, which was tight at the top, and flowed loosely from the waist down. Like her mother, it was bare back, the two ends joined together by a thin silver border. It was plaited at the back, with a small train running behind her. She finished off with diamond studs, and bracelet and a nude makeup with strapy heels.
"Mom, are you sure this dress looks nice," she asked her mom for the 10th time. She really didn't feel comfortable. She felt so exposed.
"Yes, of course Rin, you look amazing," Her mom said again. Her mother wasn't exactly paying attention, being busy looking at herself.
Inside was bustling with people, talking amongst themselves. The party area was huge. Upon entering, they were met by the grandest sight. standing in the middle of the hall was a fountain; of milkshakes, all flavours. In the middle of the fountain was a large bowl, which held the delicious liquid, which was poured into it by an octopus statue, with each arm tip pouring a different flavour. Many children were buzzing around it filling their plastic cups and gulping it down, only to refill it again.
On a closer look, Trinity noted that the bowl was divided to hold the different flavoured milkshakes separated.
As they entered further inside the room, they were greeted by Mr. Dayson, "Patrick, welcome, I'm so glad to see you." He was smiling, but looked quite tired. His grey eyes looked warm and welcoming.
"Ah, Eric, I'm glad I came. Here, let me introduce my wife and children.." Patrick said turning around to his wife first, "This is my beautiful wife, Dorin.'' ''Ah, Mrs. Croven, the pleasure is mine,'' Mr Dayson said, holding Dorins hand and kissing it on the back, while she only smiled. "And this is my daughter, Trinity, and son Derek," He continued pointing a hand towards Trinity and Derek as he said each ones name. "Hello, it's nice to meet you both. Welcome to the party, I hope you enjoy yourselves," Mr Dayson said to them, then gesturing towards the inside. "If you need anything, do let me know," He added. "You know my wife, Deborah?" He asked as a very beautiful young woman wearing a flirty looking ocean green gown that showed as much of her cleavage as possible, without revealing much, letting your imagination take control. The slit cut through the length of her right leg, right up to the thigh, if not higher revealing pale but toned leg. Her eyes matched her dress perfectly, making her look like a mermaid and her smile lit up the entire room. "Hey, thanks for coming," she said, voice sweet as honey.
"Oh it our pleasure," Patrick said, adding "You look gorgeous, I must admit." Deborah smiled, but Trinity noticed a hint of jealousy on her mothers face, which was quickly replaced by a smile.
People were standing in groups, talking and laughing, also there was much gossip to go around. Tonight's hot gossip was obviously Mrs Deborah Dayson.
"...oh and I heard she had everything custom made just for tonight," Heather Winters was saying to her fellow gossipers. "Yeah, poor Eric, looks like all his wealth will go to waste," She heard someone else comment, with a "I knew shes just a gold digger from the moment I saw her," from another.
Derek had already made his was to the milkshakes fountain, and her mom and dad had began gossiping with the others. Since she was still underage, she couldn't consume alcohol, not that she wanted to, but it would have been nice to hold a champagne or wine glass while moving around, she went towards a display of ornaments, hand crafted by Mr Dayson himself.
There were plenty of wonderful animals, birds and plants, but one thing in particular caught her eye; a beautiful thumb sized, orange stone dragon, with flame shooting out of it's open mouth. It looked amazing and so realistic, that Trinity had to look closely to make sure it was only stone. She wished she could pick it up and have an even closer look, but alas, they were all trapped behind a glass cage.
She didn't know why, but she suddenly wanted to have it. To touch it. To feel it.
She went to look for her mother; maybe she can help her get it. There were roughly about 50 to 70 people at this party, but looking for Dorin felt like looking for a needle in a haystack. All this while she thought about what she was going to say to her mother, the reason why she wants it so badly was still unknown to her. She just had this feeling, more like a hunch, to keep the mighty dragon close to her.
Maybe she could tell her mom that she likes the shape? or perhaps the colour? She just felt drawn to it, like a magnet attracting metal. Why?
There it was again, the same feeling of emptiness. How she wished she were at work, at the diner. She was told over and over again not to work there. Her parents had enough money to to send both her and her baby brother to college, buy them both houses, send them on vacation to any place on earth they wished to go, and still save enough money for the couple's retirement. Yet Trinity insisted on working at Cupids Heart, that only paid her $200, a week, as a waitress.
The reason she had to come to this damn party was because her mother had threatened her that she'd force Cupidra, the owner, to close her diner and will make sure that she won't be able to open another business again.
She totally wished she had stayed at home, if not at the diner.
