Chapter 11 - Searching for Resources

Lorne began to quietly make his way around a nearby building, weaving in and out of the building, heading for the rooftop.

Lorne peeked over the edge of the rooftop and looked down.

From the rooftop, Lorne discovered that the figures that were moving earlier were a group of people wearing red protective suits. They were constantly searching every ruin, as though they were searching for supplies.

Judging from their stance, they should be from the government. Indeed, with the government's power, they would definitely come out to explore the area as soon as the disaster ended.

After watching for a while, Lorne secretly moved in another direction. For the time being, he did not want to meet the officials.

After all, if they were to meet, it would be hard to explain where the protective suit he was wearing came from. It would be better for them to go their separate ways.

Lorne remembered that there was a large farm in the northwest direction. Some domestic animals might have survived there. Thus, Lorne began to run northwest.

After his attributes were increased by the system, Lorne's physical fitness had greatly improved. In the past, Lorne would pant after running a few steps, but now, he could easily run for such a long time.

As Lorne advanced towards the farm, a group of people were also advancing towards the farm.

"Cary, are there really a lot of supplies in the farm?" a middle-aged man in protective clothing asked the person beside him.

"Manager, of course it's true. When the apocalypse was announced, the people in the farm started killing many animals to make jerky."

"And I saw with my own eyes that they packed the dried meat into boxes and moved them into the underground shelter of the farm owner," the man answered charmingly.

"If that's true, then I'll give you credit for this expedition. You'll be rewarded when we return. Perhaps Lina can accompany you through the night."

The middle-aged man was very satisfied when he heard the reply.

"Thank you, Boss. Thank you, Boss." Cary couldn't help but lick his lips at the thought of Lina's voluptuous figure, and his footsteps quickened slightly.

They soon arrived at the farm.

"Manager, we're here. This is it." Cary pointed at the huge farm in front of him and said to his manager.

"Spread out and find the shelter in this farm. Then use your communicator to send a signal," the manager said to the group behind him.

"Yes."

The group soon dispersed and began exploring the entire farm.

"Manager, we found it." After about two hours of exploration, the manager's communicator rang with the news of success.

Soon, they arrived at the location from where the signal had been sent.

A thick alloy door appeared before the group.

Bang bang bang…

The manager quickly called a lackey to knock on the alloy door.

"Who is it?" A slightly puzzled voice came from inside the door.

"I'm an official enforcer. I'm here to check if there are any abnormalities in your shelter. Please open the door and cooperate with our inspection."

When the manager heard the question, he deepened his voice and said righteously.

After hearing the manager's words, the people in the room stayed silent for a while, then slowly opened the door.

The people outside the door all had greedy eyes when they saw the door slowly open. Thinking about the huge supplies hidden behind the door, they started feeling excited.

At this moment, Lorne was approaching the farm.

"Huh? Why are there car tracks here?" As Lorne slowly approached the farm, he discovered the traces left behind by the people from before.

He increased his speed and moved hurriedly towards the farm.

"Quick, quick, quick. Find all the supplies here and move them out." The manager ordered his men.

In the corner were two shivering people. They were the original owner of the farm and his wife.

The owner of the farm was furious. He shouldn't have let these animals in. Now, he could only hope that they would leave as soon as possible.

"Manager, what should we do with these two people?" A lackey pointed at the two people in the corner.

"Kill them," the manager said ruthlessly.

"K-kill? Manager, it's against the law to kill!" one of his subordinates said with a trembling voice.

"Give me your knife," the manager said to the person who spoke.

Although the man was puzzled, he still handed the knife to his manager.

Then, the manager slowly walked toward the two people tied up in the corner. The two people in the corner trembled as they looked at the manager walking toward them as if they were looking at a devil.

The manager raised the knife and instantly stabbed the wife's heart. Then, under the woman's despairing gaze, he quickly pulled the knife out.

Soon, the wife died. The farm owner shouted angrily.

However, the manager quickly stabbed the knife into the owner's heart as well, killing him.

The manager threw the knife at the feet of the henchman who had just spoken. Then he took a rag from the room and wiped the blood on his protective suit.

"Remember, this is the apocalypse. The laws from before are no longer effective. If you want to live well, you need to be ruthless. If I hear what you said before again, this will be your result."

"Understood." The subordinate picked up the knife on the ground with trembling hands. The other subordinates also moved faster.

At the same time, Lorne arrived at the farm and saw the cars parked outside.

Lorne took out the crossbow from the bundle on his back and placed it where he could get it quickly.

He started to move slowly towards the car.

Soon, he heard footsteps coming from the front. A man in protective clothing was moving the supplies out. He saw Lorne walking toward him.

"Who are you?" the man asked Lorne loudly.

"I'm here to exchange for supplies. Do you have any supplies? I can use vegetables to exchange for them," Lorne replied to the man.

"Wait here." Then the man started toward the house.

"Come in with me." After a while, the man walked out and said to Lorne.

Then, he walked in first.

Lorne followed, but he held his crossbow tightly. These people were obviously not the original owners of the farm.

However, Lorne was confident that he could handle this situation with his recent training.

Furthermore, according to Lorne's observation, these people's protective suits could only insulate them from heat and were easy to damage. It would be fine if he destroyed their protective suits if the situation turned dangerous.
