RACISM is a Public Health Crisis: Mentally, Emotionally, Physically and Spiritually. I don't normally write everyday about advocacy but this is morally insensitive and sickening. It makes me angry and this is something you can't stay silent and do nothing.
Looking back I don't even know how myself and so many others manage. I remembered how they teased me about my grammatical errors. They had made fun of my accent, because English wasn't my primary language. I recalled them making a joke about: "Asian women not being able to drive, and/or the appearance of all Asians is uniform".
I hope you respect people who speak more than two languages when you meet them. Foreigners who speak broken English should not be looked down upon. They are not stupid. If you ONLY speak ONE language, you may be even more ignorant and stupid.
Language is the road map of culture.
Learning a language is like having another window into the world: it tells you about the people who speak it and they're perspectives on life, traditionally and culturally.
I hope you are considerate to people of ALL RACIAL BACKGROUNDS.
Ethnicity refers to the groups and cultural landscapes that racial groups have developed in a country. To show respect for another's culture, we must first appreciate and comprehend our own as well as the significance of diversity. Otherwise, we may not know how to promote diversity and may insult someone unintentionally or fail to recognize the worth of her perspective. We suffocate our potential to achieve by suffocating diversity of thought and culture in the workplace.
For my fellow Asian Brothers and Sisters. You can't let criticism get to you. When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened but we can choose to fight back. Always remember your roots. They are the foundation of your life and the wings of your future. YOU BE YOU- be proud of your authentic self.
Encouraging diversity is a fantastic asset, but it can also be a challenging. How can we support a thriving, diversified, and happy workforce and community? Attempting to become more culturally competent is a good place to start.
