Chapter 18 - Heat From Hell

*Kash View*

The room was better than I expected. To be fair, I forgot that the last Luna was a male omega like myself. I half expected to see pink all over. Instead, the room was more of a cool mint. The huge king size bed had a bed set a shade or two darker than the walls. The bed itself was a black four post wood frame with a canopy. The floor matched the one downstairs, but beside the bed was a steel grey rug. It was a good thing I packed slippers. Zion was thinking ahead on the room he knew I would have. The room was complete with a large desk ready for my laptop. There were a few books on it but there was space for me to add my own.

Just off to the left I saw the second door Atlas spoke of. Not wanting to dwell on that too much, I looked at the other door in the room to my right. My head turned back to Atlas in question. "That makes three doors you know. I thought you would have gone to grade school at least."

Atlas said nothing and walked over with a smile.  "This is your private bathroom. Complete with full bath, heated towel rack and separate shower."

Wanting to look, but now filling my head with the idea being near Atlas in the bathroom and what could be done there, I just shook my head. Ignoring Atlas and his smile, my feet took me to the window. The view from it was much better than my old room. The manicured lawn stretched to the edge of the forest. The best part was a small fountain near the middle. The fountain looked to be as old as the castle. No longer a bright grey but almost a blackened stone now. Moss along the bottom as if to prove it was the king of the lands. The moss did seem to add life to all the stone around me though.

"Are you satisfied with the room?" Never noticing him walk up to me, his voice had me turn around.

I soon realized how close he was and our faces were now close enough to kiss. I squeaked out of surprise the pushed him away. "Pushy ass! Personal space!" After he moved a couple feet away, while ignoring his chuckle, I responded to his question. "Yes. This room is perfect. Are you sure it is okay I stay here?"

"Of course! I know you are unsure of many things, but I am very sure that I will do everything in my power to make sure you feel safe here. This is your room even after the pack pledge." My heart was beating faster at his words.

"How can you say that? This room belongs to the Luna." Even with my words not being what my soon to be heat addled brain wanted, I fought the instinct still wanting to understand why he did this.

"Kash. The more I learn about you, the more I want to win you over. I also do not mean to win you as an item like a trophy. What I mean is to win your heart. I want to make you happy and keep you happy. There has not been a day, since I laid eyes on you that I have not stopped thinking about you."

I turned away blushing. "That is just the bond and my heat pheromones in your head."

"It is not. If you do not trust my words then trust my actions. I do not care how long it takes, but I do hope that your heart becomes mine, as much as mine already belongs to you."

His words were too much. "Sappy. Don't you have guests to please?"

He chuckled. "I get the point. Do not forget to ask if you need anything. Your guards will be waiting at the bottom of the stairs if you decide to go out. Please let at least Zion know if you do. I do not know what pack members are around today." He then turned around, leaving me in the room and the door closed.

That man will be the death of me. It took a long while for my heart to slow down. I took that time to unpack my belongings. As I walked around, I casually scented the room as well. If what he said was true, then this room would be mine anyways. It still felt empty even after I finished.

My body was showing stronger heat signs, so I knew going out and exploring was not an option. He forgot to show me how to change the lock password, but they are only one way so I locked them. It was time to explore the bathroom, maybe have a warm bath and then a short nap.

The bath was exactly what I needed and the nap was easy to follow. The dream was the same as my last night mare and I woke on the floor with my heat in full. The sweat and slick had already wet the blankets I had curled around me. The pain was worse than I have ever remembered dealing with. In fact, everything was so much worse. How it started so fast was another issue. I knew it was coming, but I was sure I had a day or two.

Moving to get up was a bad idea, and a deep groan fell from my lips. Unlike a normal heat my whole body hurt. It felt worse than getting hit by a truck. At least I think so, never have had it happen before. It was an ache that vibrated deep in my bones. My muscles felt like they had been torn in two. The pain that caused me to double over, similar to cramps, was ten fold. No make that a hundred-fold. The worse was my whole body demanding something I have never had. It wanted to be full and knotted.

A soft knock at my door made me look in the direction, but with how dry my throat was from the fever I could say nothing more but another groan.

"Kash?" Surprisingly it was Zion that spoke up. "I came to get you for dinner. Atlas has been a little busy talking to pack members to come get you himself."

There was no way I had any intention of going to dinner. They would agree of course. However, I needed to let him know what was wrong first and my voice was just not working. Another wave of pain more intense than the last, had my voice come out in a short scream.

"Kash?" Zion tried to open the door, which I had locked. "I am going to get Atlas and Doc. Hang in there Kash!"

I could only groan in pain. Water. I needed water. Crawling to the bathroom seemed to take forever, but I made it and was soon pulling myself up to the sink. The tap turned to cold, all I could do was drink. Sweat still running down my body, the fever demanded more. I never even noticed the water temperature that should have been still warm, felt ice cold against my heated body. The thirst would not go away and soon I drank so much my stomach had enough and started to expel it. I barely made it to the toilet in time.

"Kash!" The pounding on the door was more hurried this round. Atlas was concerned. He could hear me and probably sense my distress.

"Atlas." I could barely whisper between the pain and my stomach dispelling it's contents.

"I know I promised to leave the door, but I am coming in Kash. Guards and Zion are downstairs. I only have Doc here." The sound of the lock being broken after his words actually had me breath in relief. Soon his scent over powered my own scent of distress and his footsteps came running to my side.

My body was already starting to crash. Complete fever exhaustion with the amount of pain and discomfort had my body want to shutdown and sleep. I was leaning against the tub when Atlas came to me. "It hurts." Was all I could whisper as my eyelids closed once more.

"His body is just reacting to the mate bond. His fever is a little high and pain looks to be more intense, but he is also stressed. New home, new pack, arguments and betrayal. It is a lot for anyone." I was a starting to awaken with Doc's voice. "This is not a good sign. I have nothing to make him more comfortable, except a light pain killer. His fever needs to drop first."

Atlas who I could sense being closer to me soon smelled distressed. "I will do everything I can."

His scent change and voice pulled some of the sleep from my foggy brain. "I am sorry Atlas."

"Shhh, there is no need to be sorry. Nothing is your fault." His next words were not for me, but had me shiver. "I will stay with him during his heat. I will take no visitors until he is clear and paperwork can be dropped off on my desk in my room. I will take calls of great importance only. Thank you for your help, Doc. If I can have you request from the staff, that water and light food be brought up to my room, I will take it from here."

"I will set contractors up to fix the handle later as well. Work on dropping his fever. The rest, well, that is up to the pair of you." Atlas only groaned in reply. "Take good care of your mate. He is one of a kind."

The room was now quiet and I focused on my own body. The pain was just as intense as when I first woke, and my body felt like it was on fire. "Water." Instinct said I was too warm and needed the fluids.

"Not yet. We are going to get you in a cold bath. Your fever is dangerously high and drinking will have the same effect as earlier." I could feel him lift me and my first reaction was to fight it. "Kash, please." His grip tightened. "Trust me."

It was then I learned he did not know that I did trust him. I trusted him with everything. It was more that I was scared of how I felt knowing so little, because I was fighting for it to be my choice not the Moon Goddess. I was scared with how much I craved him. My body betrayed me before my words. "Atlas, I do trust you." He answered back with a sound I never heard before and my instinct was to purr back. Allowing him this, I curled up in his arms feeling the pain lessen with him being so close. "Thank you for still choosing me."

Atlas did not let me go as he turned the shower on cold. Worried how I would stand when I knew that moving from my position would cause great pain, he solved the mystery for me. Not even bothering to remove clothing he stepped into the shower holding me tight. The cool water hitting my skin felt so good I never even processed the idea that Atlas and I were in the shower together. Even though it was not sexually, my rational brain that was on vacation, would have melted and fried with embarrassment.

"Let me know if you are cold." His hand placed on my forehead felt great and I just sighed. He chuckled. "Your next heat wont be this bad. Doc says the extra symptoms and intensity is the stress you have had lately. That with you being in a new area makes it harder on you. I felt awful for inviting you, but Doc claims it would be much worse if I was not here."

Soon the cold water did not feel so good. "I think I am done with the cold water now." My body started to shiver with the water pelting down.

Atlas stepped out and turned the water off. Still not putting me down, he then grabbed a few towels. When we got to the bed he sat me down. "Do not worry about getting the bed wet. I will change bedding soon." He then started to try and dry me off.

I chuckled. "Let me remove some wet clothing. It won't work this way."

His face went a very adorable red. "I just thought that you. Well. Damn. You know."

Nodding I smiled. "Thank you for being considerate. Especially since I am not fully in the right mind. The cold water had cleared my head a little and this is my choice." It was a little effort to strip down to my boxers. The cold clothing stuck to me every chance I had, and my body was still very much in pain. Atlas just stood to the side grabbing any wet clothing I removed to place into the laundry hamper. With the layers removed the shivering was much more pronounced.

Seeing how cold I was, Atlas immediately came close once more and wrapped a towel around me. "You can't get a chill now. But it is good to see your colour is more normal. Just your cheeks are red, which is normal for heats. Do you think you can manage any food right now?" I shook my head. "How about some broth? That way you get liquids and some nutrients."

The rest of the evening was Atlas going back and forth between his room and mine. Bringing broth or water, doing his paperwork as I rested and staying beside me when the symptoms flared.

The worse part of the whole night was my behaviour during flare ups. It was the most needy I have ever felt. When my heat flared, so did my sexual desire. At one point I tried crawling into Atlas's lap asking for him to stop the pain. "Please Alpha. Help?" I was cooing as I moved closer. "I want more than your scent, please!"

Atlas stood up and stepped away from the bed. "Sorry Kash. Not like this."

My whole omega insides cried out. It felt like my alpha was rejecting me. So that is what I did. I curled up in my mini nest and cried. Eventually Atlas came over and rubbed my back until I fell into a deep sleep.
