"Ugh, … my gosh… animals!" Elira exclaimed as she stormed out of her room and walked down the halls. Serein and Ragnar's room was next to hers, and the sounds they had been emitting for most of the night could not be tolerated anymore!
Elira had simply not been able to sleep and decided that the back balcony was the best place to spend a little time.
She pulled her satin robe closer to her body as the lace dress she had underneath provided little to no covering.
"Princess?" A voice called and she involuntarily sighed.
"Prince Cassian…" She turned to see the man standing with a confused expression, "Goodnight" She turned and walked back to the balcony.
"Wait…" He ran up to her, "I have a feeling that I have done something to upset you… but I do not understand what it is that I have done." He said.
He usually would not care but the fact that he had done genuinely nothing to her, and she was still angry was surprising.
Elira shook her head, "Have you done something to anger me?" She raised a brow, and he shook his head, "Then I am not upset." She shrugged and looked ahead at the balcony.
"Are you sure…? I understand that this isn't a good situation but… we must adjust."
She looked at him, "Very well… what do you propose?"
"Why don't we discuss this when we actually do get married?" he asked, "We can lay some rules, so we can be unbothered with each other… yes?"
She nodded, "Very well…" She despised herself for noticing the fact that the top four buttons of his black shirt were undone, and he was the most chiseled man that she had ever seen. To her horror a smirk appeared on his face.
"Stop that… stop reading my mind. How do you know how to do that anyway?" she asked, turning away to hide the red that had flooded her face.
"I learned magic at a young age." He replied. This caught her attention and she turned to him, things started to clear up.
So this was why he was so different from his family…
"You… you're not from Arius?" she asked, and he nodded. The only ones who did magic, were those who had the blood of Ardor which was the forest realm, but the royal family was purely a cross of Arius and The blue vale; which meant he was adopted or a bastard child like herself.
"I am adopted… now, do not start a pity party for me" he warned, but she chuckled.
"I wouldn't… I am not of pure descent either" she replied and pointed to her hair, "White hair…"
He stared at her and his face cleared up, "Oh… I… uh, well that I didn't expect."
She chuckled, "Well at least there is something that is in common between us…" she wanted to ask him more about his bloodline, but she knew he wasn't very interested to talk about it.
"Yes… uh, why are you here? Instead of asleep?" he asked.
"Well… Serein and Prince Ragnar moved into their new room and decided to announce it… through the night." She explained.
He grinned, "I can help you with that…"
"How?"
"A simple power I have…" He shrugged.
"You can stop people from shagging?" she asked, slightly disgusted and partially wondering as to why he didn't use the power on himself.
"N… No I cannot. What kind of que- never mind. I can create a bubble around them. Kind of a preservation one. I could do it around myself to save myself if a situation warranted it, but I have learned how to encompass others as well. They can break it when they leave the bubble, but till then it can be useful to you." He shrugged and walked towards their room with her in tow.
The bottom of his fingers began to glow a soft purple, and she noticed a hue around the door of Serein's room.
Within seconds the sounds had stopped and there was a calm silence.
"Oh, thank you… Thank you so much." She sighed in relief, placing a hand on his arm.
"Welcome…" He smiled, "I assume you have no powers? Only the queen has powers in your kingdom doesn't she?" he asked.
"Yes, but I am not of a pure bloodline, so I do have powers… I just choose not to harness them." Elira seemed fidgety as if she didn't wish to talk about this, so he let the topic go, not pushing it further.
"Well then I shall bid you a goodnight princess…" He smiled and bowed before walking away.
Elira watched him leave, rather liking the view that she was being serviced. As soon as she realized what she was doing, she shook her head and walked into the room.
He was strange, seeming nice when they were alone but all the things that people were saying about him were so horrible that she was simply confused.
Perhaps she would truly know him better after they got married… she reckoned as she tucked herself into bed; falling into a deep sleep immediately.
