"Lightning lit up the sky and thunder boomed as a war raged on in the Heavenly Realm."
"Heavenly beasts and human deities were fiercely battling as an icy wind which could instantly kill any mortal bashed against their skin. This catastrophic war broke out on the largest mountain in the realm."
"This mountain goes by many names, however, it's inhabitants call it the Celestial Beast Mountain. It's the home of most of the Heavenly Realm's beasts, and even the Kingdom of the Beasts is located there."
"If it weren't for the greed of humans, then this war would cease to exist. The human kingdom, Dileria, had banned together elite warriors from all over the realm and sent them to the mountain to kidnap the Beast Queen's newborn child."
"This wouldn't have even been possible, as the Kingdom of the Beasts was far more powerful than the Dileria was. The only reason being that the Queen died giving birth to her young one."
"Little did the humans at the time know, but the reason the Beast Queen died giving birth was not complications during the process; the Beast Queen was too heaven-defying to die from such a thing. No… the real reason was because her cub was too strong to give birth to. Her mate had mysteriously vanished years ago, and this cub was the only thing she had left from him. She loved the cub dearly, and even sacrificed her life in order to bring the cub into this world."
"In the midst of all the chaos, a young cub was hidden under the thick brush of the nearby forest. It glared at the humans fighting with a gaze full of killing intent."
"What did the cub look like?" Asked Feng Bao asked out of curiousness.
"Heh, I wish I could tell you, Bao'er" Grandpa Ji sighed, "any descriptions of the Royal Beast Family you hear from a Lower Realm such as this one will most likely end up as a lie."
"Hmph" Pouted Feng Li and Feng Bao in unison. The twins were annoyed by the fact that Grandpa Ji couldn't describe the young cub to them.
"Let's continue, shall we?" Grandpa Ji continued with his story after raising a brow in amusement, "the hidden cub was none other than the Beast Queen's child. The cub had only been born for a day, however you should never underestimate a beast from a royal bloodline. It had already managed to slaughter its captors and run hundreds of kilometers in a matter of seconds all while following only the sounds of violence with its keen instincts"
"It's intelligence was already at that of an average human adult's, and it could easily differentiate friends from foes. Therefore, it decided it was going to join the fighting."
"Now, this is another piece of the story in has been altered so many different times you can't tell which version is true." Grandpa Ji added and continued with the story once again, "At first, when the cub joined the battle, no one took it seriously. However, the humans soon realized the grave mistake they had made and were terrified. Similarly, the beasts couldn't help but look in shock and awe at the young cub's strength!"
"RAAAAAAW!"
"The cub let out a small roar and instantly jumped on a human commander's head. Terrified, the human tried to shake the cub off, but alas, the cub was too strong and he was dead in the matter of seconds. It did the same to the other 20 commanders and instantly turned the tide."
"Eventually it flew up in the air and went straight for the leader, the second prince of Dileria, Xain Yang. Unfortunately for the cub, the prince had predicted this action and smirked. Humans are known as sly creatures for a reason. The noble prince had already cunningly left the strongest array in the kingdom to protect him. Once the cub was inches from him, it suddenly froze in mid-air, sealed within time and space."
"The cub had only been alive for a day, so there was no way it could already command heaven and earth to break free. Even if it could, there was no way it could break the Ancient Heavenly Space Lock Treasure. The prince ended the cub's miserable life with a few swift blows to the head and absorbed it power and bloodline to become the crown prince."
"With the bloodline and power from the cub lost to the humans the beast quickly retreated. They knew if they continued the war it would be pointless now, and they would only lose more powerful beasts."
"Xain Yang was known as a legend to everyone in the Heavenly Realm. The built him a huge memorial which can be seen in the Heavenly realm to this day, millions of years later."
"It ended just like that!?" Feng Li shouted. "If it weren't for the greedy humans who attempted too kidnap the cub then the war wouldn't have happened!"
"I suppose… but if they had let the cub live, who knows how powerful it could've become! It would have brought chaos to Dileria!"
"Yeah… I wish it was still alive so I could go find it and pet it…" said Feng Bao sadly.
Suddenly the door to the room opened, and a beautiful young woman that looked like she was in her mid-twenties walked in. She had waist-length black hair and pale skin along with a thin and graceful silhouette. Her face was beautiful as well, shining silver eyes and bright cherry blossom red lips. Her name was Feng Liling and it was obvious she was the twins' mother because the twins might as well be exact copies of her. The only difference was Feng Bao with his eyes as dark as the night sky.
"Alright kids, time for bed" said Feng Liling.
"I don't wanna goooooo!" Feng Bao shouted, "Grandpa Ji tells the best stories!!"
The twins protested as their mother dragged them out of Grandpa Ji's residence. Before she left, she thanked Ji for watching the twins and taking such good care of them. She took them back home and started to put them to bed, as it was getting late and the twins were only nine years old.
Feng Liling sighed. 'These two are turning 10 tomorrow. This means they will have to head to the sect Pagoda to check their potentials at the next annual Root Affinity Ceremony. Unfortunately, there is only a month left until it starts. I hope they both can rise up in the sect and maybe even surpass me.' Feng Liling hoped in her heart. 'I wish their father was still here…'
"You two better sleep well tonight! Tomorrow you and Bao'er are turning 10!" Feng Liling told Feng Li.
The twins quickly fell asleep after she put them to bed. Later, one she peeked into their room and saw this, she left the room and headed to the Flourishing Meadow Sect. Once she got there, Liling headed to her cultivation room. She was hoping to stabilize her cultivation since she had just broken into the Elemental Creating Realm.
