Chapter 34 - The Magic Loving Professor

Orpham watched intently as Tukins arms extended far, and light blue mana particles shot out, snowflakes already forming in the air.

The floor and walls turned icy, as the particles started to swirl around the room like the wind, making Orpham start to feel very cold.

Icicles start to form on the ceiling, slowly creeping their way towards the ground as they grew longer and wider.

As he cast the spell, the smile on the Professor's face grew wider.

A foggy mist started to fill the room, as Orpham could no longer see the walls, then the ceiling, and then finally he couldn't even see the floor beneath his feet.

Soon, Orpham heard scratching sounds scrape across the icy floor. Following this were grunts and growls of beasts he couldn't even imagine.

He could barely see the Professor wave his arms to the sides, as all the fog cleared, and in front of Orpham was a magic sight.

A winter wonderland, complete with snow and hills had appeared. However, what drew Orphams attention was the giant dire wolves prowling around the area, and the two ice golems standing firm and straight like royal guards.

It was all impressive, it was all magical.

'So this is the power of a high level mage? To simply wave his arms and a new world appears. To even summon this many creatures, it's very impressive!'

"The dire wolves are my familiar's pack. Since he is a direwolf alpha, he is able to summon his pack to assist me. Pretty cool, eh?"

"That is pretty awesome! What about the ice golems though?"

"Those are formed from snow and ice. Most mages are able to eventually create some minor elementals with their magic. At my level of experience, making those two is not that difficult."

After they finished conversing, the door opened and a few more students walked in. When Tukin saw them, he waved his hands once more and all of the ice and snow in the room melted away as the dire wolves disappeared in a white cloud.

He brushed off his shirt, and then dragged himself to the center of the room, his previous gloom returning, but at a lesser degree.

Once everyone was inside, Tukin went through the same things he did with Ojero.

"Greetings students, my name is Professor Tukin. I am an ice mage who loves magic, and will be teaching you how to responsibly use your magic this year."

As he spoke, he progressively turned more and more excited.

"I will try to teach you everything I know, and attempt to mold you all into great and famous mages! You may even be as famous as Ere Kim, the world famous wind mage! That would be amazing, wouldn't it? Then I could go around saying 'I taught that kid everything he knows!' like all those old people do!"

"Magic is such a fun thing to use! It can fill you with adrenaline, make you feel like you are on top of the world!"

As Tukin said this, a small mountain of snow started to build beneath his feet, raising him up. Once it stopped building, it was shaped like a small mountain, with the Professor striking a heroic pose on its peak as if he had just triumphantly climbed all the way up.

"The world is your oyster when you add magic to the mix, and the only person who can lessen your growth is yourself! Although some magic may be called more powerful, all of it is unique and can change the world!"

"In this class, we even have a mythic space mage! They are said to be able to distort reality and summon meteors with their bare hands! Some of the extreme ones were even known to collapse entire domains in on themselves out of anger or revenge! Luckily, we haven't seen any do things like that in many decades!"

As the Professor went off on another tangent, Orpham found himself liking him more and more.

'He seems to be a very energetic and happy person when he starts talking! I think I will enjoy being in his class, so long as he can get over his morning issues!'

Soon, Tukin ended his long speech of the possibilities of magic, and everyone split into the colored squares to be helped by Tukin.

When he arrived at Orphams square, he was at a loss of what to do.

"I doubt I can be of much help, space magic is a mystery to most people. Little documentation exists due to the rarity of it. However, the school does own a few minor spells you can use, and gave them to me to help you learn."

Tukin then pulled out a small roll of parchment, on which was a few paragraphs detailing how to condense space into a small ball in your hand to fire out as a projectile.

Orpham took the parchment, and started to read through it.

'It seems simple enough, just direct the mana into your finger and fire it out like an arrow. I guess there is no harm in trying.'

Extending his right hand, Orpham started to direct the mana into his hand. He felt it flow, and the usual feeling of adrenaline and weightlessness he felt when using his space magic. Once it all reached his hand, he held it there for a few seconds, and let it fly out.

When he tried to release it, however, he felt himself lose the connection, and the mana fizzled out.

All that happened was a small flash of blue light, and then nothing.

Orpham was a little disgruntled at this, but was not one to give up!

He tried again, feeling the mana flow to his hand, but yet again the spell failed at the end.

He tried a couple more times, till Tukin once more returned to him. Watching what he was doing, Tukin noticed the big issue.

"You are letting your connection to the mana go way too early. You have to feel it through, and only sever the connection once it has fully left your hand."

Orpham followed his teachings, and this time a bolt of blue a few inches long shot out of his hand like a cannonball, slamming into the wall of the room.
