Alex was directed to the area where the interviews were being conducted. It was a big hall and a lot of people dressed just like him in formals sat there in two rows facing each other.
Everyone was holding a file just like him and he could clearly see they all looked alike, in a way.
'Do I really have a shot of getting a job here? Grandpa insisted I try my hand here but he thinks too highly of me. Am I truly capable of working in the Park Conglomerate? Ahh, I am anyway here, I'll just give my best shot and won't keep any expectations' Alex thought to himself and sat at one empty chair.
A lady dressed in a black pencil skirt and blue shirt, tucked neatly, entered the area and announced the interview process will start in ten minutes.
Somebody from the crowd asked her how many people they were hiring.
When she informed him, they are only hiring ten people, the crowd clearly looked disappointed.
"Recently, I found out twenty people got fired so I hoped they would hire twenty." A man next to Alex said this to his friend.
"Yeah, but the CEO wants to make profits, so she fired twenty old people and will be hiring ten young ones, as she believes the ten young ones would be as efficient as the older ones" The friend added.
"What a cruel decision"
"Why should we care, we are getting these jobs"
The two friends conversed and Alex helplessly shook his head, 'Why such cruel people exist in this world? They do all bad things and yet live in luxury, why is life so unfair?'
Alex's luck was always bad and it never favoured him. No matter how good he is to other people, he is always the one who ends up suffering.
This slowly made this man a bit pessimistic about himself.
'Anyway, I promised grandpa I'll do my best, so I will do that' Alex graduated a few years ago and got a decent job, but his luck was so bad that he later found out the company he is working for is a sham company and he therefore lost his job.
After that finding a job became difficult in that city as there was a rumour that even employees were involved in illegal activities.
Therefore, Alex, his grandpa and his younger sister, decided to shift to Seoul to try their luck here.
As Seoul is the capital, the job opportunities are more in this city and his sham company might not be that well known here.
With this hope they all made this shift.
Alex Kim, is now twenty nine years old, he needs to find a good job and take care of his family, he can't let his grandpa still work to help them survive, so he was determined to get this job as he wishes to provide a comfortable life to his grandpa, who had been taking care of him and his sister after their parents abandoned them.
Seeing so many people, he was a bit nervous but he faced so many rejections, he was prepared for the worst.
