Chereads / Spirit Guide To The Afterlife (18+) / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Spirits

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Spirits

I was well into my sixties when I died. I could hear the heart monitor flatline faintly and the freaking out of Rin. She always tried to get me to have sex with as many women as possible, saying that if more people had my genetics, it would be a better world. I disagreed and most women were uninterested in me, so I only got with a few. Each of them was only side women though, due to polygamy laws.

Well, at the end of the day, it was a fulfilling and fun life. Rin's parents owned good businesses and their skills were definitely passed onto Rin, she had several successful companies of her own, but she got really good once she inherited her parents' businesses. We were rich.

We had seven children together and I had a total of thirty. Well, I guess it's about time I let the feeling of nothingness set in...

After a few moments, I was suddenly jerked into a physical body and sat in front of a woman behind a desk. The woman has white hair and large breasts. Her features are round and her eyes are light purple in coloration, pairing well with her pale skin.

"Alright, Atsushi Takahashi. Took your wife's surname. Nothing unusual." The woman with a halo said. "Met your wife in high school, rather romantic, I suppo- Wait, what the fuck?" She asked as she shut the book she was reading.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"No, you don't get to speak." She said. "You kidnapped and raped her, forcing her to fall in love with you?" She asked with a brash tone.

"That part wasn't on purpose." I said lightly.

"What!? You didn't mean for her to fall in love? Okay, so you didn't purposefully make her fall in love, makes it sooo much better." She said sarcastically. "Look, there's no way you can get into any position with a life like this." She said as she sat back and kicked her feet onto her desk.

"May I explain the circumstance? You seem to have glossed over a lot of events." I asked. She rolled her eyes and nodded reluctantly.

"Unfortunately, my job is understanding your wrongdoings, so go ahead." She said with annoyance.

"In high school, she had actually kidnapped me and murdered my family. So, you see, what I did was for revenge. It's still horrible, but I wanted to do it, so I did." I said lightly with a gentle expression.

The woman's expression turned to horror as she lowered her feet and leaned in quickly, causing the chair to squeak a bit.

"What. The. Fuck." She said. She began flipping through pages. "And somehow you two raised some of the most compassionate individuals? How? How does that work? No abuse, no over-the-top discipline, nothing like that was ever used on them, in fact, you two stopped your twisted ways?" She asked as she read the book once more.

"I mean, after I got out of prison, I was kinda bored with that life, honestly." I said gently.

"Y'know what? Whatever. I don't give a fuck anymore." She said as she shut the book loudly. "My verdict. Go to a fucking horrible planet and get reincarnated as some motherfucking orphan, I will be your guide, so try to be a better fucking person. You will receive another verdict after this life and it will determine whether or not you get into the afterlife, so keep that in mind you fucking sicko." She said with vigor.

"There were quite a few f-bombs in there." I stated frankly.

"Yeah, I wonder why." She said sarcastically. "Whatever, you get some powers or whatever, so choose something." She said blandly.

"Um... Are there any limits?" I asked. She shook her head.

"If you choose something like creating matter out of nothing, you will have a downside, just as a warning." she said.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Well, there was a guy who lost an arm every time he made something, and then there was the chick who became sexually attracted to trees. Point is, something will change, but you won't know what it is until you get there." She stated.

"I-I see..." I said as I began thinking

"Also, you can have multiple, it just means you're more likely to be cursed." She said as she leaned back in her chair again and opened the book. She put her feet up and put the book on her face as she tried to sleep.

Well, creating matter is useful... So that's a yeah, even if I lose limbs, I can just create something that regrows them, so it's not of consequence, or, not really, at least. I think an understanding of all tech would be good as well...

"Ma'am, will there be magic?" I asked. She waved her hand as she responded.

"Yep." She stated simply. I nodded.

Alright, so that too. "Okay, I think I know what I want." I said.

"Go ahead." She said.

"Creating anything from nothing. An understanding of all science, technology, and magic, past present, and future, as well as an inane mana pool." I said gently.

"Alright." She said as light enveloped me. After a few moments, I woke up in a dark forest. Drowsily, I looked around and saw that it is night and that I am surrounded by mud. I inspected my body and found that I had the body of a child and I was wearing nothing more than rags.

After a few moments, memories flooded into my mind and I began to understand who I am now. My new name is Jack, I'm an orphan who was nearly sold into slavery before I ran. I decided to hide in this mud hill thing and it seems to have worked.

I'm six years of age and am a part of the peasantry. It's a bit chilly here... Perhaps it would be best to move away from here and continue to somewhere else. Also, figuring out what my disadvantage is would be useful.

I pushed myself up slowly and weakly, noting that I seem dehydrated, then looked around a bit. There is a path nearby and in the distance, I can hear the sound of horses drawing near to my location.

It would seem I am in a bad spot... And I also just realized that I asked for the information on magic, technology, and all of that, but I didn't ask for skill, so I still have to build that. Fuck. Well, turning invisible is probably out of my wheelhouse, for now, instead, let's work on escaping.

I looked around again, then began to walk on the path. I assume they think I'll run into the forest trying to escape, so using the road should allow me to escape. As I began to walk, I noticed my leg is wounded and I am limping.

I held out my hand and began to focus a bit, trying to create a healing potion, and after a few moments, it was created. I looked all over my body to see if anything changed, then checked inside my trousers.

Alright, everything seems to be in the right place. I opened the potion, then downed it, healing almost immediately. I nodded to myself, then began running along the dirt road. After a few moments, a small fairy-like creature appeared in front of me and flew around my head several times as I ran.

"Wow, it seems that you managed to organize yourself quickly, good on you." She said in a familiar voice.

Ah, so it's the girl who sent me here... "Who all can see you?" I asked.

"Straight to business. Well, can't say I blame you." She said with a light shrug as she began to fly alongside my running. "I can allow others to see me, but right now only you can see me." She stated simply.

"Do you know what the negative was?" I asked.

"No clue, you have to figure it out." She said blandly. I sighed and continued in silence. Whenever I felt fatigued or tired, I made a potion to regain my energy, then continued on. Eventually, I reached a city, a rather different view from the old slummy village that I just came from.

The city has giant walls with large gates, both of which are reinforced with what looks to be iron or steel. I walked off of the path for a few moments, then made some clothing that is a bit more presentable, then also made a pouch and put some silver and copper coins in it and put it on the belt which I made as a part of the outfit.

I changed, then continued on the road. As I approached the gate, I noticed some guards stationed outside. Upon arriving at the gate, they stopped me.

"There is an entrance fee." They said.

Must not be all that uncommon for children to travel alone in this world. Strange. "How much?" I asked.

"Three copper." He said. I fished the copper pieces out of my bag and handed them to him. He counted it then nodded. "Open the gate!" He yelled over.

"Aye!" I could hear faintly from the top of the wall. After a few moments, the gate rose upwards and I entered the city. I entered into what seems to be a market district with several stalls selling various items as well as stores here and there.

After looking around the market a bit, I started searching for an inn and eventually found one. I entered the building and saw a woman at the counter. She is attractive and has large breasts. Her body is thin and she has brown hair. Her pale skin compliments her blue eyes rather well.

"Welc-" She started but quickly interrupted herself. "What's a youngin' like yourself doing here all alone?" She asked.

"It's a bit of a long story. Do you have a room for rent?" I asked as I deflected her question.

"We do, but won't your mama be worried?" She asked.

"That... Won't be a problem." I said hesitantly.

"Nonsense, if you're lost I can help you find your way home." She said.

She's a kind woman it seems, but I don't think she has realized that I currently have no parents... "I think you misunderstood..." I said with hesitance.

"What do you mean?" She asked as she tilted her head a bit, causing her breasts to move. I cleared my throat.

"I, uh... I don't want you to feel bad about anything... But I don't have parents..." I said. She covered her mouth in surprise.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have brought up such a topic... I just thought..." She said as she looked at the desk, uncertain as to what she should say. "You didn't steal the money, right?" She asked.

"I didn't. I got it through legal means." I said. Technically it's true, as far as I am aware, there is no law against creating coins with god-like power.

"Alright, it'll be five copper a night... The first room on the right upstairs." She said. I placed a silver on the counter.

"How many days can I get with this?" I asked.

"Uhm... Twenty..." She said, still uncertain as to how she should interact with me.

"Thank you." I said as I walked up the stairs to my room. After I entered my room I sat on the bed. "Alright miss fairy, afterlife guide person, what's your name?" I asked.

"Ah, so you finally asked that only took you forever." She said blandly. "Mersa." She said.

"Okay. What all does your job entail?" I asked.

"I'm supposed to help you live a good life and make it into the afterlife. Also, I guess I also have to do what you say, so there is that as well." She stated.

"I see. And what are the requirements to get into the afterlife?" I asked.

"I have to deem you a worthy individual after you die. It's all subjective, of course. So long as I think you lived a good and proper life, then you get into the afterlife." She said.

"I see." I said. After a moment of thinking, I opened my hand and created a small vile of liquid, something a fairy could easily drink in one sitting. "Drink this." I said.

"What is it?" She asked.

"You said you have to do as I say, right?" I asked. She sighed.

"Whatever." She said as she flew over to my hand and took it. After staring at it for a moment, she opened it and hesitantly drank it. "So, what does it do?" She asked.

"It makes it to where you think everything I do is good and proper, no matter how objectively bad it is. Guaranteed afterlife." He said.

"Oh, nice. Very well done. I'm pretty sure moments ago I would not have reacted like this, but whatever, I approve." She said with a smile.

"By the way, do you have the ability to change your form?" I asked. She nodded. "Alright, good to know." I said as I laid down on the bed.
