The King was totally not playing fair. Every time Cody tried to attack he'd send an attack toward Connor or the retreating Blaze and Kyle. He clearly had the advantage in speed, but it was taking all his efforts to block the incoming attacks.
He wasn't too worried though, he just had to keep blocking until Kyle and Blaze were out of reach. Protecting only one person would be easy. Then the king shot off two at once. Impressive and annoying. Cody used his bright shield to block the one headed toward Kyle and Blaze but screwed up on the other. His reward? The wall. A nice large hard wall. Ouch! He pulled himself from it. After another quick exchange of retorts they shot at each other again.
Dang! The King was switching between elements with ease. Water wave, earth wall, fire shot, countering all kinds was definitely harder than one. Especially given how some hand longer ranges than others. On the bright side, at least he could easily tell he was a water mage before dark. It was the only one he could use the second stage of. The downside? He had to deal with ice magic as well.
Finally seemed like years, Kyle and Blaze were out of range of any possible effects. Time to go on offense. Cody took a millisecond to focus his mind changing his bright magic to its second stage of lightning. The power increased easily tenfold but the defense capabilities…..well they were lacking to say the least.
Light arched from his hand and his speed increased yet again. Ooh interesting, he hadn't used lightning much yet, the added speed was definitely nice.
"You aren't that special you know." Came the King's voice. Cody looked over. His magic had also changed into.... lightning. "I was a duo mage as well and your Majikku just gave me the last hint I needed!"
"Ah so you can't even manage to unlock your elements without help. Sad really." Replied Cody icily. His retort was just that a retort. It wasn't like he was going to say, you're impressive to a wanted criminal. Considering most of their conversation was with the bright elements speed, any passerby would just hear gibberish or think it was some sound effect.
Cody smiled his retort had more effect than he thought it would. The King had turned red with anger.
"How dare you, a little worthless bright mage criticize me a king among kings."
Cody made a drawn out yawn as if bored, which amplified the effect even more. The King launched himself carelessly at him. Cody sidestepped with ease and landed a lightning strike on his back.
The King hissed but didn't falter. Just how strong was this guy! At this rate he'd win just by stamina.
Wait stamina, Cody's eyes widened slightly. That's right the dark element didn't let you feel tired you'd just collapse as soon as you broke off your magic for a second. With even more elements in the mix that effect would multiply. Which meant he just had to land one solid hit.
Launching him into a wall would be ideal. With the amount of elements he'd been casting he was bound to be way past his limit. If the King kept going he might even end up dying from overuse. In fact that was totally another option. If Cody made him continue using all the elements his body might just explode.
Granted this was all a theory but Cody didn't have any better plans at the moment. Who knows what this King's crazy combo drug's side effects would be.
Okay try one. How to make him hit a wall? Oh this was going to take some effort on his part. Cody slipped into the fastest mode of his lightning that he could and shot forward directly at the King.
"Lightning burst!" he growled throwing as much power as he could into it. The King's eyes widened as the spell hit him throwing him back into the wall.
Cody grumbled. His spell didn't leave as large of a creator as the Kings one earlier. The King laughed pulling himself from the wall. He didn't even drop his magic. Darn!
"I think I see what you're trying" he laughed. "It's not going to work though; the Majikku and I are now one."
Fine, thought Cody. Let see how you handle plan B then.
"Well if the Majikku and you are one, why can't you cast the second stage of all elements?"
The King paused as if considering. "Who said I can't." he focused all his dark energy around him and...Cody yelped jumping back in shock as lava, blue flames, ice, and lightning all spread out toward him.
Sure he was aiming to get the King to cast more, but this, what even was this nonsense.
It was definitely nuts. Magic was going everywhere. Aiming didn't seem to be a thing. Cody quickly jumped back and shielded himself and Connor. A fireball hit his shield hard sending him flying back into the air.
He smacked into the catwalk causing it, himself, and Connor to fall to ground level.
Cody immediately checked to make sure Connor was okay. He was…good. Although, he probably was having trouble keeping track of the fight. He just looked confused, very confused.
BOOMJAJACRASH…. Cody looked back toward the King, but he had turned into a giant ball of swirling Majikku. He wasn't even human at this point. This took the words dark magic overdose to a whole new level.
The swirling dark orb seemed to stay still for a few seconds. Cody slowly got to his feet. Was it stable? He didn't want to approach it considering it looked pure evil.
Bright streams of light suddenly shot from the inner part of the orb and cracks formed all over its surface.
Cody's strongest bright shield immediately formed. Connor beside him also seemed to have noticed enough because an Ice wall shot up behind Cody's bright shield.
The orb continued cracking until the dark outer layer fell off the orb leaving a complete mass of swirling energy in all the element colors. A very unstable dark element. No it wasn't even a dark element at this point. The different types of Majikku weren't mixing they were repelling each other.
Cody felt dread creep down his spine as the mass of Majikku exploded in every direction.
