Chapter 12 - Men who come and go.

Flashback.

Jane didn't know what else to say. All the way home from the hospital, she was silent and turned her face to the side of the car window. Jane looked down the deserted street. There were only a few street lamps left, and shadows bounced off the very tall lamppost.

"So, are you better now, Jane?" Henry asked as he turned to look at Jane.

"I'm feeling better, Mr. Henry. Thanks for all your concern. But I thought, you don't have to worry like this, I'm just a servant working for your family." Jane began to humble herself.

"Actually, I just needed a break earlier," Jane continued to thank him, but at the same time, she refused Henry's attitude and concern at that time.

"I don't care, Jane," Henry said bluntly, causing Jane to look at him in bewilderment.

"But, why Mr. Henry?" Jane asked in confusion.

"I don't care if you keep rejecting me. I don't care how often you'll turn me down, Jane." Henry reiterated his statement.

"You should have known, from our first kiss, that I started to like you," Henry continued to explain. Made Jane look at him with question marks rather than surprise.

"Mr. Henry, are you aware? What you just said?" Jane asked, trying to reaffirm Henry's declaration of love for her.

"I'm very aware, Jane. I know we are both very far apart in age. But love is blind!" said Henry with a high convincing intonation.

"And the truth is, I start to feel different when I'm with you." Henry suddenly stopped his car and came to a stop on the side of a very deserted highway.

The man took Jane's hand gently, holding it lovingly. His gaze immediately fell on Jane's brown eyes. For a few seconds, Jane tried to understand Henry's thoughts.

She started to feel her heart pounding as she read the thoughts of Henry, who loved and cared for her so sincerely.

"Uhmm, Mr. Henry. Are you playing with me?" Jane pulled her hand. She didn't want to dissolve and drown in Henry's love feelings.

"Jane? Why? Did you turn me down?" asked a confused Henry.

"Mr. Henry, I'm so sorry, but I'm so tired. I want to go home, please. Can't we go home soon?" Jane asked. Her face was pale and tired.

Henry no longer said anything strange. He complied with Jane's request that the two of them come home that night.

They arrived at the Johnson residence.

Jane immediately left Henry without saying goodbye or thanking him. Meanwhile, the man who had just confessed his love could only stare at Jane's back, which slowly disappeared from behind the entrance.

Henry couldn't blame Jane for rejecting him. It's natural if the woman does not believe because he did everything suddenly. But that was the honesty that Henry felt at that time.

The next morning.

Henry tries to act normal as nothing happened, but Jane is different. She looks very much avoiding him, let alone come closer and look at Henry's face.

To linger with Henry, she certainly will not want. Jane prefers to do other jobs. Although, it was more difficult than being with Henry in an awkward situation.

Day after day passed, and week after week passed. Finally, there is news that says if Henry will move out of town for a while.

Of course, Jane knew about it because many maids were talking about Thomas Johnson's son.

The family company is engaged in mining. So, they needed Henry's power to help his father.

It was sad for Jane, but she could breathe a sigh of relief when she found out that Henry was no longer around. And Jane remained act normal, forgetting what had happened between her and Henry. Back to doing her job as a servant of the Johnson family.

Meghan Johnson. The woman, of course, never knew what had happened between her son and her beloved servant. For Meghan, Jane is already considered her daughter.

To the extent that Meghan plans to provide a scholarship for Jane. So, the young girl can enter a higher level of education.

Jane is, of course, happy to respond. She also loves Meghan. Someone, she considered her mother.

Year after year had passed.

How many seasons had passed by Jane? She was in one of the Johnson stables. She is doing her routine job cleaning the horse stables.

"Hhh..!" Jane wiped her sweat, and her face was red from being in the hot sun for almost an hour.

"It's been seven years. I can't believe if I've worked this long for the Johnsons," Jane said and taking off two thick leather gloves.

Jane walked towards the water source, which was on the side of the cage. She had her blonde hair in a ponytail, a few strands of hair sticking out untidy. Made Jane's face look beautiful and sexy.

A makeshift hand-washing station, and made of nothing but a big black bucket.

Jane immediately clasped her hands together and rubbed them all over her face.

"Hhhh.., what a relief," she said as the coldness began to brush against the skin of her cheeks.

Jane was now twenty-two years old. This year, she would be ready to ready go to university. Mrs. Meghan had already prepared it.

It was a little late because Jane also had to get a diploma at the "High school" level beforehand.

Jane grew taller, beautiful, and well-proportioned. Maybe it was because she was doing a lot of heavy lifting, adding a solid feel to every muscle of her not-so-big body. Anyone who saw Jane would be amazed because Jane grew into a beautiful woman.

Regarding her ability. Jane slowly got to control it. If she were in a crowd, then Jane would probably be wearing earphones or something. So that her brain doesn't hold a lot of information. And because of that, Jane would prefer it if she worked as an individual. Because if she doesn't need to meet a lot of people, even she likes her solitude at that time.

Jane was still patting her face with the small towel. At that time, she's wearing a jumpsuit with short shorts, with boots up to her knees. The blue t-shirt was starting to get wet, mixed with Jane's sweat and water.

"I didn't think the little girl I had kissed before was so much more attractive now." Someone said from behind Jane.

Jane immediately turned around with her eyes wide in disbelief when she saw the figure of a man she had not seen in a very long time.

"You!?" Point to Jane as she steps back.
