Chapter 11 - Jane: Why do you care so much?

Flashback Mode.

Since that incident, Jane kept avoiding Henry. She felt embarrassed because it was her first kiss with a man.

The young girl was happy but scared at the same time. She was afraid that Mr. and Mrs. Johnson get angry and fire her. And if that happens, what should she do? She's only a lonely young girl.

In addition, Jane feels uneasy feeling when she meets Henry's face. That's all because Henry is a handsome and mature man and not her equal. There was no way she and Henry could go through a relationship called love.

Jane realized that she was still very young, while Henry was nine years older than her, must have been surrounded by more beautiful women than her, but all of that was refuted...

That night was Mr. Johnson's birthday celebration. The workers have been busy with various activities. The waiters were busy setting up the room, appetizers, desserts and snacks, and events that would make the birthday celebration extravagant.

A waitress found Jane huddled in one corner of the empty kitchen. Surprisingly Jane held her ears and closed her eyes as well.

"Jane, are you all right?" asked the maidservant patting Jane on the shoulder gently.

Jane straightened her face slightly, but her hand is shaking. Then she looked nervously at the maidservant.

"Daisy, can I just be in the kitchen?" asked Jane in a stuttering voice.

"What's wrong? Is something bothering you, or is something confusing you?" Daisy asked who was surprised by Jane's always individual attitude like this.

"Nothing bothers me, Daisy," Jane replied, making a plausible excuse.

"Oh..., you're not feeling well, are you? Well then, you'd better rest here. Maybe you can help prepare some porcelain for the celebration later." Daisy ordered politely.

Actually, the right reason for Jane was when she saw many pairs of eyes and heard the thoughts of every guest present. It gave Jane a headache, and she was unable to process all the information so quickly.

Jane clutched the side of the sink, holding back the strange feeling as hard as she could as she tried to suppress all the thoughts and information she had absorbed too much.

There was a slight tremor that appeared as Jane grabbed the side of the sink.

Jane didn't notice it at all. Until finally, the slight tremor became strong enough, and Jane's eyes remained closed. There was no one in the kitchen room. All the workers were busy preparing birthday celebrations.

Henry entered the room, and he saw Jane was at the side of the sink. He continued to approach Jane, and he gently patted Jane's shoulder.

The woman quickly turned around, and she knew that Henry was already behind her.

"Mr. Henry?" she asked nervously, with her body shaking.

"Jane, your face is so pale. Are you sick?" Henry immediately grabbed Jane's forehead, and sure enough, he felt Jane had a high fever.

"Come on and follow me," Henry said and immediately grabbed Jane's hand.

"Mr. Henry, let me go! I'm at work now. It's no good if you hold my hand like this." Jane tries to warn him, but Henry doesn't care.

"You're sick, Jane. So, just listen to me, I'll tell Daisy if I take you to the hospital," Said Henry, and he showed his greatest concern to Jane.

Just as the two of them came out. Daisy was holding a tray of empty plates and dirty glasses.

"Mr. Henry, what are you doing?" Daisy asked surprised. Especially, seeing the two of them holding hands.

"Daisy! Jane is sick. How can you allow her to keep working?" Henry asked in annoyance and a little curtly, while the butler could only be silent and stunned in confusion.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Henry, I think she's just a little unwell. Besides, Jane didn't tell me that she needed rest either. In that case, I certainly wouldn't allow her to be here and require her to rest immediately." Obviously, Daisy made a defense for herself.

"Then I'll take Jane to the hospital immediately, tell my parents I can't continue their celebrations. Just if they look for me."

"But.., if they're not looking for me, please don't say anything. I'll explain myself later." Henry continued to explain. Then he left Daisy with a question mark.

Jane complied, and together with Henry, they both got into the car. And that same night, they headed for the nearest hospital.

Throughout the journey, Henry kept holding Jane's hand tightly. The man showed his concern making Jane think about what happened to Henry. Why did she care so much about her health, but somehow it was only with Henry that Jane wasn't afraid, and she was much calmer.

Arriving at the hospital, Henry still showed his concern. And he had brought Jane to the doctor on duty at that time. Jane immediately got treatment by a nurse and a female doctor.

"Miss. Jane only has a slight fever. I have given her fever-reducing medicine, and it seems she is also too tired. She should have had enough rest for two to three days. After that, she can go back to her normal activities." A female doctor gave Jane and Henry a friendly smile.

"Thank you, Doctor," Henry answered swiftly.

After the nurse and doctor left the room, Henry gently stroked the top of Jane's head.

"Did you listen? You need rest. So I'll tell Daisy tomorrow. So you can take your rest, Jane,"

"Don't worry about your job because there are many workers who can replace it," Henry was smiling slightly, whereas Jane was embarrassed by Henry's concern.

"Mr. Henry, why do you care so much about me? You know I'm just a servant. But this attitude of yours makes me confused sometimes." Jane straightened her body slightly.

Henry immediately raised the pillow.

"It's okay, Jane, I'm here because I really care about you, and..." Henry was silent for a moment, and he no longer continued his words.

Jane was silent, and she was just confused. What did Henry really want to say?

"We don't need to discuss anything else. After this infusion is over, we both will go home soon, ok?" Henry continued and gently patted the back of Jane's right hand.
