His decision to sleep out had nothing to do with her so she was actually very less concerned. She wasn't even in the slightest bit worried about him. He was a grown up man for mother nature's sake! Why should she worry?
She bade the two elders goodnight and went up to her room. She had just taken her clothes off and was preparing for a bath when her phone buzzed with a message. She checked and it was a message from Mr Williams. He had finally sent the number to her. His call enter the next second and age picked him and thanked him for the effort to help her.
The time was a few minutes past twelve. Calling Brenda now would surely be a bad idea as she surely would not pick it up. So all she was left with was to sleep this night and proceed with the plans tomorrow.
After freshing up and getting ready for bed, she tried going through the script Mr Collins had given to her but ended up sleeping halfway.
...
The morning finally came. She woke up as usual, did her morning clean up routine then went out to have her breakfast. She didn't need to ask if Devon had come back last night, the dark circles under both butler Ken and Aunty Lou's eyes, told her they had stayed up all night waiting for his arrival.
She chose to ignore the skeleton in the room and focus on her breakfast. She had made it clear that she would not be concerned about his personal matter so even things like asking about them, she would absolutely refrain from doing them.
"Sigh! Master has always had a problem sleeping on a bed that isn't his since childhood, I wonder if he had any sleep all night"
"He's been so but due to the Fashion show coming up, his health hasn't been any good too, I wonder if he worked himself all night."
"Who knows if he had dinner, he's quite picky with the things he eat. Hope he didn't starve?"
"I should probably get Doctor Quan here, in case he come up with a fever or some other problem"
Gisele ears was constantly twitching from the not-so silent murmuring going on between Aunty Lou and the old Butler. She didn't know if they were doing it in purpose but their words managed to incite guilt in her heart. She could barely even swallow her food right thinking he must not have had a good night.
Sigh! Her feeble heart would probably be the death of her!
She was right about this. In the nearest future her heart would really send her down a road that could take her life.
She could not bare it anymore, so she dumped the beautiful delicious foods in front of her and ran away.
She went back to her room and proceeded with her agenda for the day. She picked her phone and dialed Brenda's number that was sent to her last night. The call rang for a few rounds before it was finally picked on the other side.
"Hello" came the lady's anxious voice through the receiver.
"Hello is this Miss Brenda?" Gisele asked with a subtle tone, trying to ease the girl's anxiousness. True enough, the girl's sigh of relief was heard followed thereafter by her cautious voice.
"What do you want?"
"I bumped into you last night and you left something behind when you left, can we meet so I could return it?"
The line went silent for a second. Faint sounds of papers shuffling could be heard from the speaker, it seems Brenda had not even notice she dropped some part of her documents until this caller said so. Her face tensed and her fingers clenched.
Her eyes looked alarmed when she noticed the paperworks that were gone. They were the most important of everyyshe was holding and they held vital informations of her current predicament. Whosoever was with it must have read it and must have known what she was going by through. Thinking of this, she suddenly had no heart to meet this person. She could almost imagine the pity or contempt the person would hold in her eyes when they meet.
"The_There's no need for...for that. You can just throw it away."
Gisele rose a brow skeptically. Her lips turned up perceptively and she suddenly uttered "really? Then I was worriedly for nothing. If that is what you want I'll just_" She spoke in a nonchalant tone that Brenda on the other side believed she had moved to toss the papers away.
Her face went pale with fear booming from her eyes "wait!" She had blurred out before she could even realize. She bit her lit regretfully but could not take back her words.
"Wait? Why? Don't you not want the paper anymore?" Gisele asked knowingly.
It took some period before Brenda could finally respond "You can just send it over. I'll send you the address to post it to" How could see not want it, this as an important part of the documents. Throwing it away was no doubt a means of throwing away a way of also proving her innocence.
"Miss Brenda?" Gisele called out softly.
"Yes?"
"Can we meet? I really have something to discuss with you. It's okay, you can trust me. I just want to help" Gisele was no more playing with the young lady, she went straight to the point with a very reassuring tone. Her voiced sounded gentle and determined, in a way it really incurred trust from Brenda.
Once again there was silence on the line, Gisele didn't say anything else, rushing the lady's decision would only make her look dubious. It was left for the girl to decide, if she trusted her enough then she would help her but if she didn't, she would just send the documents over and pretend like she had never seen it.
It took a long period of time. Brenda's conflicted inhales and sigh echoed through the speaker. She didn't know if she could trust the Stranger on the phone and she also did not want to miss a chance to prove her innocence. Her brother had left to find evidence on her behalf and it had already been so long. She didn't know how long she could wait anymore.
After hours of contemplating, she finally made up her mind. What was the worse that could happen? She was at the verge of loosing a career she had painstakingly groomed for almost a decade, was there still anything she could lose at this point that she hadn't already lost?
"Fine" she replied desperately. "I'll send the address. Come alone"
Once she heard the confirmation, Gisele did not longer on the call anymore, she had her farewell after agreeing to their arrangements.
Since a date was settled, she stood up and changed her cloth once more. Now she went for something more professional. She needed to give an aura that assured the girl she could be relief on so every hint of simpleness was omitted from her body, both in dressing and aura wise. When she was done, she boarded a cab and left towards town.
...
If was way past mid-day but the surrounding had no touch of heat from the afternoon sun. The Winter breeze left the surrounding feeling cool and peaceful. One would feel a slight chill, if they stayed out in the open air for long but nobody seemed to be in a hurry to go indoors. The combination and the vibrant golden days falling from the sky and the slimy windy air gave a feeling of harmony and refreshment. One you would like to enjoy for a little while.
At least that was what it should be.
The gentle wind blowing through the dried leaves on trees, a remnant from the outline seasons of summer, appeared to be blowing hails and storm in the MX corporation building.
The atmosphere was cold and rigid. A frightening chill overtook the already work sullied bodies of the helpless employees. Everyone was on there toes. Rustling about in hurried yet quiet foot steps, worried if they stopped or were louder than they were they would arouse a round of scolding from the stone faced man on the twenty fifth floor.
In the Conference room. The directors sat rigidly with tear-like faces.
They had had it more stressful than the other employees below them. Each of their had been dragged out of their sleeping beds before the morning skies even had a streak of light and they had been sitting in this conference room for the past twelve hours. It would not have been so unbearable if the young man sitting in front of them did not look like Yama on a killing spree. His cold eyes sent shivers round their ages bodies while his sharp tongue lashed out uncontrollably at them.
An unquenchable amount of transfer of aggression had occured and now everyone was under the same mountain of pressure.
