Chapter 39 - Testing the asset

"Don't look so disturbed. You should be happy that you have been approved for a contract of five years with us. With our Otome Magazine, you are bound to go viral in no time. Especially since you're such a beauty"

Five years?

Brenda was shocked. Since when did magazines start offering that kind of long term contract except if you were to become their signatory model.

Wait that wasn't even the case, she didn't even want to work with them for a day talkmore of five years. Who knows what kind of things they would make her model. It was probably something like what that girl in the picture was wearing.

She would rather remain insignificant in the modelling industry than to actually sign such a contract.

"I_" she was going to refute but then she was cut off.

"Now now there's no rush. First things first we shouldn't forget our manners should we." The man said mischievously. All of them seated had that mischievous look on their faces, it made Brenda feel uneasy. Her heart couldn't stop palpitating like it was going to explode.

Something bad was about to happen, she just knew it!.

"In Otome Magazine, we have a habit of testing the asset before it is put to use, I hope you don't mind Miss Brenda. Don't worry it would be nothing not to your liking" He said again.

Testing the asset?

Before Brenda could process what he meant, she saw the man give the other men a signal. In a blink of an eye, she was surrounded.

"What do you want to do? Don't touch me!" She exclaims panicking. In the next second her mouth was muffled with a piece big cloth. No matter how she tried shouting no one could hear her voice, even her couldn't hear herself.

She was lifted like a piece of offering and pinned on the wooden table in the center of the room. No wonder no food has been ordered. It turns out she was going to be the dinner.

Tears filled her eyes, she struggled as much as she could, trying her best to break free from their hold.

She who detested sleeping with old men was going to end up being ravaged by not one but a bunch of them.

Was that how she was going to end?

...

Daniel stood looking at the girl laying on the pale white hospital bed. Compared to the patients he had seen at the general ward, this girl looked perfectly fine with no ounce or hint of an ailments so why was she here?.

It had also been hours since he had been standing there and she had done nothing than sit and leisurely nibble on the apple slices on her plate. She hasn't even said a word to him since he walked in.

"If you don't have anything to say then I'm leaving" He said agitatedly then turned to leave.

"I miss you" the girl's tiny voice rang out making him to halt.

He shouldn't be halting! He should be walking away from this girl who had brought him nothing but despair but why was he still being frozen by her words.

"Is this why you sent for me?" He asked with a frown.

What a waste of time coming here, still why was he hesitant to leave?

"Don't you ever miss us and the sweet times we spent together. Don't you feel bad that we ended like that" The girl said in a tiny voice.

Daniel turned and looked at her. "You of all people should know better who ought to feel bad. You stabbed me in the back despite all the so-called sweet times we shared. How could you even speak of missing me after what you did?"

There was pure anger, contempt and hurt in his eyes as he spoke to her. Camille looked away and pretended to wipe a tear from the corner of her eyes.

"I made a mistake at first, but you contributed to it. Why did you have to believe your sister over me? I was your love, the one who was with you from the beginning, I helped you build your foundation yet you threw me to the side once I made a slight mistake." She sounded so righteous one would believe what she had said was the truth. She had merely made her betrayal sound pitiful.

David felt disgusted by her words. He wondered how stupid he was to have fallen in love with this shameless girl in the first place. Just how bad was his luck?

"Slight mistake? You went out with my sisters fiance even while dating me. How could you call that a slight mistake? You expected me to welcome a slut like you back into my life after that?"

The girl's brows creased from the title. Her pretense fell and an arrogant look overtook her face.

She retorted arrogantly "it's not my fault I was irresistible besides if you weren't so impoverished, I wouldn't have had to sleep with your sister's rich fiance. You should blame your insufficient financial status"

Daniel gritted his teeth and clenched his hands so tightly his knuckles turned white. Because of this girl, his sister's wedding was cancelled. His job almost crumbled. His mother too had a heart attack and went into a coma. Yet she showed no ounce of remorse, instead she was here putting the blame on him. He felt like breaking off her neck but doing that would only get him in trouble.

"Go to hell Camille" He cursed and stormed out of the hospital room.

Immediately he walked out, Camille dug out her phone from under the hospital quilt and dialed a number.

"He's headed your way. Did you confirm if the deed has been done?" She asked. The person replied, it must not have been to her liking cause a frown appeared on her face.

"That's okay, it must have been done anyway. Get out of there before he sees you" She cut the call and laid down with a smirk on her lips. She could see her victory already.

Who told them to go against her? This was what they get when they don't know their place.

Daniel went back to his mother's hospital room. He stared at the woman's sleeping face and couldn't help but feel regretful. He should have listened when she warned him earlier.

Sigh!

He picked up his phone and saw that it was switched off. When did he switch it off? He doesn't remember switching it off still he pushed it out of his mind and turned the phone on. Immediately it came on, he was bombarded with a sea of messages. There was also a voice mail waiting to be listened to.

"Where are you?!_" he listened to it's content and his face paled.

Otome Magazine?

How could he ever have sent a request there? That Magazine was halfway from being banned by the government!

He picked up his keys and rushed out of the hospital. Rushed to his car and drove away like a madman.

Brenda's eyes stung from all her crying and so did her cheeks. She had struggled so much that she had ended up getting slapped a couple of times still she didn't stop struggling.

Even still her shirt had lost all it's buttons and her chest was exposed to the eyes of those miserable men with only her bra to cover out the essential part. Thankfully she had worn a tight jeans trouser to save her from the cold. Not only was it saving her from the cold but it was also saving her from these men vile intentions. With her struggling they were finding it hard to take the jeans off.

"Aish the b*tch just won't stay still" once again a slap was thrown across her cheek and the push and pull continued

Just when she was starting to give up. The door was banged open by a bunch of people.

Daniel almost fainted when the door came open. The sight he saw broke his heart as well as almost made him go on a rampage. The security he had come with hurriedly rounded up all the men in the room while he took off his jacket and covered the body of his sister who was shivering and crying on the table.

She curled her body like a clamp and buried her head in her arms. Her shoulders shook to the point it looked like she was having a convulsion.

He didn't know how to console her. He couldn't even bring himself to speak to her. Slowly he reached out to pick her up, she shrunk even further and avoided his touch.

"B it's me. Let me take you home" he muttered in a shaky voice too. He was trying his best not to break down crying. This is the worst scenario he had ever gotten to see his sister. She had gotten to endure humiliation, accusations and all sort but this... Molestation? This was the height of it.

He reached out to pick her up again, this time she did not avoid him. She stayed curled up even in his arms. He placed a cap over her face to shield her from the eyes of people as he carried her out.

For this two the night would be longer than any other night they had ever experienced
