Chapter 57 - 03| Eyes

Sᴇᴘᴛᴇᴍʙᴇʀ 9. 2024.

"Welcome back." Mr. Fishman claps after closing his register and shoving it beneath his arm. "I really don't care how your summer break went and," his eyes flit to Alexa, snuggled in her seat as if she could disappear...any minute now... "with us, we have a new student. She was transferred here from...somewhere...OKAY!" He huffs, clapping again as if it can hide his lack of information on the newcomer that everyone is, no doubt, curious about. "Can Alessia Moskal please come to the front of the class?"

At the name 'Moskal', a few gasps are heard, and now, with everyone's undivided attention on her, she seems to sink further in her seat. Vincent has his headphones on again and is, thankfully, sifting through his own land of rap right now with his eyes closed.

"We don't have much time for this, Moskal. Please come up and introduce yourself to the class before the bell rings." The teacher sighs, annoyed and already tired.

Alexa leaves her seat reluctantly, meeting the grumpy teacher at the front of the class. Eyes follow her like moth to a torch, and as she gives the shortest introduction known to man, she gazes at the caramel boy with dark brown curls who's bobbing his head, not giving a rat's ass about his surroundings.

The bell goes and, suddenly, everyone wants to talk to Alessia. Of course she ignores them all, needing her comfort zone back and she sighs in relief when Vincent walks by without a word. Alexa remembers everything clearly about the guy, and to be honest, he intimidates her; only because of what she knows of him so far based on their first encounter. He has the capability of taking her...HER...down...not to be arrogant or anything. She fears that if he so much as give her a weird look, her confidence of her disguise, the new her, will shatter.

For the whole day she hopes to not cross his path, nor catch his attention. He might not recognize her, but the thought of knowing someone who's able to win against her in hand-to-hand combat makes her feel both odd and wary.

Lunchtime rolls around the corner and almost immediately, Alexa stumbles upon the cafeteria, spotting Richie in the far corner with a bunch of other students, averagely dressed. She tilts her head in assessment. Are they what you call the outcasts...or losers, per say, in books?

"Sit with us, Alessia." Nikita walks up behind her, waving a hand in her table's direction. It's overflowing with the wealthiest of the wealthy of the school. Overcrowded and noisy.

She shakes her head in distaste, trudging towards Richie's table.

Being the new girl, eyes follow her. She sits peacefully beside the boy and everyone stops doing what they're doing to look at her like she's crazy.

Smiling slightly, she lifts her left hand and gives an awkward wave, heart pounding in her chest with the one word from earlier swimming in her head: ,'friend?' However, her plans of trying gets ruined when a commotion starts behind her.
