Chapter 62 - 8| Waste

Sᴇᴘᴛᴇᴍʙᴇʀ 10. 2024.

At lunch. Vincent scope the whole cafeteria with his eyes for a certain white-haired girl. He spots her sitting by herself at an abandoned table, in a far corner by a window. he thinks of reasons why she'd want to sit there when it's filled with doodles and vandalism. Maybe she just wants to be alone? But, why?

A sophomore approaches her and leans on the table with a smile. Vincent can't help but notice that the brunette's smile is a bit forced and he watches him walk away after a few unheard words are passed between the two. The boy shrugs, shaking his head at his friends at another table in the same corner, filled with scholarship students.

What do they want with Alessia? They're normally trying to shift the hierarchy of the school, being annoying and mean in their own way altogether after calling others disgusting. They're obsessed. Perhaps he should warn her about them, while also asking her some things that are bothering him.

Vincent has been standing in the middle of the cafeteria for over five minutes, staring directly at where Alessia is sitting. She most definitely feels his stare, and decides against turning around, but it's irking her and instead of eating, she's playing around with her food.

A heavy hand rests on his shoulder, snapping him out of his thoughts. He becomes conscious to the teens watching him and cocking their ears to hear the conversation he's about to have with his smirking friend.

"A gahrl fahynally catch yah eye, eh?" the boy squeezes his shoulder suggestively in an attempt to tease him. "Yah alreaydy lookahn whahpped stahrin' at 'er lahke dat."

Vincent rolls his eyes at the quick assumption a lot of people might be getting, "I don't know her. I just want to ask her something...a lot of things actually."

"Ah thahnk yah should ask 'er out on ah dayte ahf yah wanna questahn 'er so bahdly daht yah gahtta stahre aht 'er from ahcross da room." He press his lips together at his friend's exasperating persistence. "Or, ahs yah ego still bruise from dahs mornin'?"

"It was a tie and I'm not interested in her like that. I'm interested in who she is." He explains, glancing Alessia's way again as she stares out the window. Then, he turns back to his friend to gloat. "Not everyday you me someone who can keep up with Vincent Guiseppe. Especially, a ragazza?"

The boy becomes serious at Vincent's sarcasm. "Wahtch aht, buddy, ah'm gettin' dere." he flexes an arm and they both burst out laughing in the middle of the cafeteria.

When the boy leaves Vincent to his business, Alessia has already slipped out, leaving her meal on the table. He spins in a full circle to see if she's at least still in the room, but the girl has completely disappeared...

...what a waste of food.
