Chapter 24 - Bonderson

Monday morning, Evans High.

Anderson's homeroom.

A cute nerdy guy walks to the front of the class and his charisma makes everywhere fall silent that one can literally hear a pin drop.

"Guys, this information is from Mr Audrey, our test on AP Biology would be adjourned till Wednesday because he's attending a meeting and the substitute teacher is unavailable. He's made arrangements for a fixed class tomorrow"

He is Adrian, lean build, average masculine height, pointed nose and small eyes. He's wearing an army green knitted sweater vest on a shortsleeved ash shirt with a pair of black pants and a pair of glasses. He's the representative for the senior grade.

"Hear that, homie?" (Tapping Anderson) "It means free period, that's good news! Let's go chill somewhere"

ANDERSON: Err... okay, let's go. (Getting up from his seat)

"Dude, you've been staring at that picture since first period"

ANDERSON: Come closer and have a look. (Leaving the class)

"You're staring at a picture of a couple kissing, is everything okay?"

ANDERSON: Take a closer look, Louis. (Giving him the pictures)

LOUIS: Why does she look so much like your freshman girl?

ANDERSON: Exactly. It's a picture of Bonnie and some guy kissing. Found it in my textbook on Friday. (Collecting them back)

LOUIS: Something doesn't add up. How did the pictures get into your textbook in the first place?

ANDERSON: No idea, man.

LOUIS: Looks like a set-up to me. Someone's playing games with you.

ANDERSON: Fair point. But be it a set-up or not, she was actually kissing someone.

LOUIS: We can't actually see their lips touching though. You both just need to talk.

ANDERSON: Why? I'm over with this!

LOUIS: Don't be a brat, go talk to her, you never can tell. (Playfully elbowing him on his stomach)

ANDERSON: You're right.

LOUIS: I'm always right, dumb ass.

ANDERSON: I guess I'd see her during recess at the...

LOUIS: Speak of the devil (Glancing at Bonnie and Laura far off, they are taking the stairs leading to the music room)

ANDERSON: Should I talk to her now or wait till recess?

LOUIS: Earlier the better, man. Go set things straight. Don't worry about me, I'd just hang out with the slackers at the senior quad, see you at third period. (Patting his shoulder and walking away)

Shortly...

ANDERSON: Hi Laura. (Walking into the music room) Could you spare us a minute, please? Sorry to disrupt your conversation.

LAURA: Take all the time you want, hottie. (She drops her clarinet on Bonnie's laps and leaves)

A moment later.

BONNIE: You've got to be kidding me, Anderson. We didn't kiss. Oh well, it was a kiss on the cheek... THE CHEEK! Come on, Octavio is just a friend. We actually just got talking a few days ago. I dunno who the hell took those pics but there was no kiss. Why the hell am I even explaining myself?

While they're talking, a boy walks in. "Hi, excuse me, the saint asked me to confirm the number of flutes here in preparation for our next class" (Talking to Bonnie and Anderson)

ANDERSON: Go right ahead, man. You don't need no permission. (He smiles, leaning on Bonnie)

BONNIE: Go away, you're heavy. (Pushing him)

ANDERSON: Haha. You know, Bonnie... when I saw those pictures, I thought I had lost my girl to someone else but...

BONNIE: Slow down... 'Lost my girl'? Smiling and looking away.

ANDERSON: Bonnie... I... uhm... (Touching her lips)

BONNIE: Anderson... wh-what are you doing?

ANDERSON: This...

He leans closer, locks eyes with her and brushes his lips against hers, she stares at him blankly.

ANDERSON: Why that look? Should I stop? I'm sorry.

BONNIE: No, don't. I'm just wondering why it took you so long.

ANDERSON: I guess I wanted to be sure we were on the same page. (Looking into her eyes, smiling, their noses touching)

Later, outside the music room.

MATILDA: How did it go, bob? Were you able to spy on them?

BOB: Yeah.

MATILDA: So what's the good news?

BOB: On the contrary.

MATILDA: Meaning?

BOB: They're together now.

MATILDA: What do you mean together?

BOB: I mean dating, obviously.

MATILDA: Impossible.

BOB: They kissed.

MATILDA: Damn that girl! I'm gonna make her suffer. (Storming off)

"Wait a minute, Matilda was in a good mood while Bonnie and Anderson were still in the music room but when the guy with her entered there and came out to tell her some things, she seemed to flare up. Is she spying on them? Not surprised, but the one thing that doesn't add up is Tyler. What's he doing with Matilda? Why's he hanging out with a girl who's spying on his sister?"

These thoughts run through Carl's mind as he watches them from the upper passage way on the third floor.
