Chapter 1 - Prologue

In the midst of winter, during a terrible storm, the exciting first cry of a baby echoed through the village.

A newborn baby girl, she was no doubtfully beautiful, just like the rest of her family. However, despite her adorable features, she looked different. In the small city, everyone resembled one another to some extent. Whether it was by their dark hair, or their long noses, or their dark eyes, they all had something in common. Yet this newborn baby didn't look anything like her neighbors. In fact, she barely resembled her own family.

Her face shape, lips, and thin eyebrows were obviously from her mother. While her eye shape, small nose, and chin resembled her father's handsome traits. Even with traits that showed she belonged to the Hua family, she still looked foreign. That was simply because of the color of the thin patch of hair on her head. And the ice colored eyes she bore.

"She's blind." The doctor diagnosed. He, along with everyone in the village, had never seen someone born with such an eye color. They only knew that if someone had such light colored eyes, that they were blind.

More cries echoed from the Hua household that early winter morning. But they weren't the least bit happy. In the small city, people with disabilities were looked down upon. They weren't needed in the community, and most of them would end up dead a few months after their cruel fate was delivered upon them.

"I won't let you die," Yan Cuifen, the only woman in the Hua household, whispered to the baby in her arms. Her face was stained with sweat, exhaustion, and tears. Her renowned beauty had faded once she heard of the destiny her sweet baby girl would have. "Aibing, oh sweet baby girl, why do the gods hate you?"

Despite the doctor's predictions of the baby girl's short lifespan, the Hua family did all they could to raise her just like any other child. Maybe it was because of their dedication, but Aibing didn't die within the first six months of her life. She continued living, under her family's strict supervision, until finally everyone realized that the doctor's original diagnosis was completely off.

At the age of three, the Hua family recognized that Aibing wasn't blind. And at the age of four, everyone in the village discovered the genius in which the child was capable of. She got her first job six months after her fourth birthday, as a helper at the one and only library in the small city. Only a week after her first paycheck, everyone realized that the young child was smarter than most of the adults in the village. And when she turned six, she studied under the smartest man the poor village had to offer - He Xiaoli, an old man, who had once studied in the capital.

The reason why He Xiaoli took interest in the young girl was because of a particular event that happened on the girl's sixth birthday. It had been a private party with just the girl's family and the librarian, but the effects of what happened spread all over.

What was once common knowledge was lost in the rural cold city. The power that only a few individuals could unlock, a power that enabled one to become a noble, a power that He Xiaoli had discovered later in his life. A power that was known as chakra. Only 1 in a 100,000,000 could use chakra, and in the small city that didn't even have a name, Hua Aibing became the only person able to wield a heaven-defying source of power.

During the celebratory event of her sixth birthday, her power was revealed. With no control over it, her powers spread over the entire city, even killing someone.

When drinking from a glass of water after her favorite treat, a chocolate chip cookie, she suddenly made ice. Her water and glass turned into ice, and it immediately spread to the floor. It covered the walls of the house, and the fence, instantly. And the ice didn't stop spreading until the sun came out the next morning.

But as the ice spread, so did the fear of the unknown. Seeing the horrified expressions her family looked at her with, Aibing naturally got scared. And as she got scared, the effects of her power became frightening. Spikes began to randomly grow, impaling houses and pets, and even a person. The first to get hit by a spike was none other than Aibing's one friend outside of her family, the librarian.

Watching her friend die in front of her eyes, Aibing's power grew even more terrifying. Scared, and angry, the ice grew more dense and more spikes began to form. On top of that, a blizzard like no other rained down on the small city. Only when did she exhaust herself, in the early morning, did the nightmare stop.

He Xiaoli then took her as his apprentice. As she became known as the disciple of the powerful He Xiaoli, an ounce of respect was gained under her name. But the residents of the city, including her family, were too scared of her to respect her even in the slightest shape or form. To them, she was a monster.
