The war had begun.
I had completed quite a few basic C and D class missions with the rest of my team, well, my shadow clones did. However, by the end of December, our missions were to send supplies to specific camps towards the borders of different countries. I could tell the war had already silently started as there was talk around those camps of the scouts getting into conflict with other hidden villages. One thing I still found difficult to control with my skills was my transformation ability, It was very taxing to partially transform and even more so to fully transform. However, after visiting the libraries and working on my writing skills, I had managed to make a certain amount of leeway in Fuinjutsu.
...
"Choza, the war has already started, our peace agreement has been broken" the Hokage stated pensively, "you and your team have been delegated to the Kiri front again. Further details are on your script. The front commander currently is Tsunade Senju."
Hiruzen quickly waved us off and before long, our trio of genin's worked out a certain level of understanding between us and I'd finally cracked the tough nut known as Genma. He is someone I can trust as I know his laid back mask is simply his way of taking things at face value, however, internally he's still tense at hearing this news.
My father had been very passive as soon as I got my genin rank however, now I have Chunin level abilities, I no longer see him as a threat and we had fought on occasion - leading to my win. He now just left me alone which was a good outcome. I had not heard a squeak out of him for the past couple of months.
I sat down at home as we would be leaving tomorrow. Getting out a large stack of parchments, I sorted through the different seals I'd need...Iron protection wall, I'll take that...A couple of explosion tags and finally, the forbidden individual curse tag... It's a bit wordy so I'll just call it the Can't-Kill-Yourself Tag. It does exactly that. Subjects you to the will of others and prevents you from being able to take your own life. Nefarious... but effective.
I collected my things and sighed before checking my stats one last time before I slept,

"Raiden, Keep an eye out" Choza reminded, "Guy, Genma stay on guard"
We were currently on our way to the Kiri battlefield, in my opinion, it is much safer than being on the Kumo battlefield...At least for now, it is.
We made it to the battlefield quite rapidly.
...
"Lady Tsunade, Team Choza reporting," said sensei bowing slightly towards her. Nodding towards us, she waved her hands, "It's good to have you with us Choza. Your team is part of Squadron 6. Squad Leader will be Minato Namikaze, He's a bit young but still has a good head on his shoulders."
Guy nudged me and whispered, "At least we'll have Kakashi and Obito with us as well"
Genma replied with a bland look on his face, " I think you're also forgetting they have Rin Nohara on their team"
Guy scoffed, "Meh she isn't strong though. She doesn't have any...YOUTH!"
"you've been screaming about youth on the entire trip here, I swear if you don't shut up, I'm going to water bind you to a tree for a whole day," Genma replied with clear annoyance on his face. I smiled at the antics of these two. I'm going to protect them to the best of my abilities...Keyword. Abilities, not to the death. If they die, I'll just bring them back later. But if I die, I'm not coming back.
Choza finished his talk with Tsunade before she left. I eyed her curiously on our way out, obviously, she noticed my gaze but thought nothing of it and continued to finish her paperwork.
Interesting.
...
The camp was positioned in the east of the land of fire just off the coast of the Chigiri Sea.
At night, after our team reported to Minato, we went out to patrol across the waters. It was a cool feeling that night, abruptly I felt something entering my sensory range. Sigh, Free points here I come...
After notifying my team, we all retrieved our kunai's, after all, I can't pull out Kira nor unlock any gates in front of the team unless necessary, I also prepared some tags just in case.
Thankfully, it wasn't a large squadron, just a small scouting team. Since I can use total concentration breath, my physical abilities are permanently augmented.
*Shwing*
An explosive tag spearheaded towards us but, according to our formation, Guy managed to redirect it deep down into the waters. Genma was already getting ready to cast any jutsu. Plus, there was water all around us, this should be his playground. Heh, better for me.
Soon they appeared, 2 Jonin and 5 Genin.
*Clang* My kunai connected with the Kunai of one of theirs. No words were said, after all, war doesn't determine who's right or wrong, only who's left. Choza sensei had already partially expanded and took on both the Jonin's. A Clan Leader Jonin truly is something different.
Guy had already started beating the living shit out of the genin team. This was because Genma had already bound their group. This was one difference between his jutsu and the shadow binding jutsu. Water could form anywhere...Shadows can only form on a surface.
I already started weaving hand signs and before long, 4 blue, flickering spears appeared above me. They rushed out from above me and pierced into the body of the rest of the Genin.
"Fuck...You killed Garema!" Screamed one of the Jonin's as he started losing it, the other just shook his head in sorrow. Guy was going to leave his victim alive but I frowned at him before he steeled himself and pulled a Kunai out, completing his mission.
We then started approaching our sensei to help him. Genma was about to start weaving hand signs for his water restriction jutsu again but one of the jonin escaped, hence only one was captured.
It was an eventful night.
...
I gained very few points from those Genin, I roughly had 1,000 points. Well, you can't expect to come across the seven swordsmen of the mist every time.
I rested up well that night whilst my shadow clones continued their training.
'Ugh, which tailed beast would best suit me?' *Snore*
I woke up the next morning and shook my head a little, I really do need to give up my views from my previous world, I was still in this military-like tent with Kunais and the like all packaged around me. Sigh, Let's get back to it, I shook my head and got myself out of those thoughts. I have to be present at the moment and right now, the moment is war.
I met up with my team and before long, Tsunade yelled with a tense look on her face, "Kiri has declared all-out war on Konoha! Get ready all of you, this is the start of the third great shinobi war!"
I wasn't very surprised by this. I'm only going to reap benefits from this war, especially since I don't have to go up against a kage. The only ones that could pose a threat to me were the elite jonin or jinchuriki as Saiken shouldn't have been sealed in Utakata yet, hopefully, Kara doesn't have any hands in this currently.
Snapped out of my thoughts, Choza started leading us towards our Squadron. We eventually met up with Minato's team and a few others. We were all silent as we... as we went to war. Sigh, Let's go and grind some points and stop this pointless overthinking. I PATTED my team as well as Kakashi and Tobi on the back and gave them silent encouragement... among other things.
Unbeknownst to Raiden at the time, Minato's eyes widened at what the kid had just done and he became slightly more careful towards the Genin on Choza's team.
*Clash* Raiden got into close combat with some Genin. His hands flipped between Kunai's as he sliced through them using his Beast Breathing techniques which savagely ripped through their flesh.
In his wake, a group of necrotised corpses were left and he was rapidly gaining infamy on the battlefield. Unfortunately, Raiden noticed something entering his sensory range from the east.
"Fuck! All of you listen up, Kiri reinforcements are coming our way and the rest of the Squadron is too busy battling ahead. I'm sorry for not telling you this guy but I have to resort to this now," He shouted with a drawn smile on his face,
"Gate of Opening: Release"
"Gate of Healing: Release"
"Gate of Life...Release!"
Suddenly, A green and blue aura wrapped around him as he recollected himself with a large inhalation and his skin began turning red. he crouched down again, like a vicious beast about to complete another hunt.
~Author Inserts cringe technique name that brings all of his techniques together hehe~
"First Form: Wild Spirit" He finalised as his aura began to stretch to his Kunais as well. The rest of his team was in awe.
"No worry Raiden, Your commitment only shows me your YOUTH! Now I can't disappoint either can I?" Replied Might Guy before shouting,
"Gate of Pain: Release"
"Gate of Limit: Release"
"Gate of View: Release"
Guy seemed to rush into the oncoming swarm of Ninja as well as he dispatched them left, right and centre.
Genma smiled and started weaving a large number of hand signs before releasing the jutsu, a large 6m tall water dragon started forming around him. This was a genuine water dragon that had limbs as well as aqueous wings on its back. It was completely transparent with a blue tint. It was evident though that Genma still had to hold the hand sign, as Shikamaru does with his shadow binding, to control the dragon. However, it also started mowing through the Kiri Ninjas as well.
Choza simply smiled afterwards and went into his full expansion Jutsu and started swatting enemies left and right, "I can't have my students showing me up, can I? Hahaha, they'll truly understand the name Blood Mace Choza after today!"
Not long later the team of 3 Genin found themselves shoulder to shoulder protecting the flank of the formation. They had managed to get rid of a large number of the approaching reinforcements. Fortunately, most were only genin with few Chunin and less than 10 low-rank Jonin.
Now the three were smiling as they stood next to each other with their arms crossed, these were no longer simple Genin of the leaf... These were going to be individuals who have reputations rivalling the Sannin. As, if this is what they're capable of now, imagine what they will be capable of in a couple of years.
Raiden still flickered with the colour of the gates that he had opened and still had the crimson-stained blades in his hand. Guy took on a stance with a confident smile as he still had all his six gates opened. Genma looked slightly tired and his dragon had reduced in size to 4M yet he still had an excited grin on his face.
The remaining lower-ranked Kiri nin started dashing at the trio of Konoha nin.
A large grin plastered the trio's face.
