"Can't I visit my brother?" Carter asked.
"You've never bothered visiting before, and you hurt my daughter," Connor said.
Carter walked behind the counter, and opened the fridge.
"Why don't you have anything good in here?" Carter asked, closing the fridge. He walked to the counter, and sat down on one of the chairs.
"Why the sudden visit?" Connor asked, walking to the fridge. He took a pack of ice, and gave it to Vicky.
Vicky kept the ice pack on her wound. She walked to the counter, and sat on a chair, farthest away from Carter.
"I wanted to see how well you've trained her," Carter said. He looked at Vicky and continued, "This life's tough. You need to be the strongest. Once you lose your grip, you're no more."
"Isn't life always tough?" Vicky asked. She looked at the ice pack, which was covered in blood.
Connor wanted to get a first aid kit, but at the same time, he did not want to leave Vicky alone with his brother.
