She had rejected it before
Esther walked to the shaking helper, "He won't eat you up."
The worker raised his head when he heard a sweet yet dull voice, he could find some traces of sweetness in it but as his eyes clashed with hers, he felt a chill run through his spine.
Although, not because of fear rather he was shocked to his core that a girl with a honey dripping voice could have dull and bleak eyes. They were devoid of any warmth. A direct contrast to her vocal cords.
He kept thinking and thinking that he got lost in his imaginary world.
Esther didn't know the effect she had on the innocent young boy.
"Do you by chance have any idea about the keys to this room?" Esther pointed out to the room, the location showed on the GPS.
The boy was thrown out of his imagination as he heard the beautiful lady asking for the keys to the room of their hotel's owner.
"That, Ma'am, I can't give you an answer since I have no idea. But I am sure that our hotel manager could help you out."
Michael took charge of the talk, "Where can we find him?"
Just then three of them heard a ding sound of the elevator, the door opened and a man in a navy blue suit strolled over to them. He looked like he was in his mid-thirties.
"Good Morning, Sir." The worker greeted the new man.
The man nodded at his greetings, "I am the manager of this hotel. How may I help you, Sir?"
As Michael stood directly ahead of Esther and his bulky body covered her.
Hence, the manager didn't see her but only the giant figure of Michael.
"Can you give us the key to this room?"
The manager followed Michael's gaze and his eyeballs seemed to bulge out of his eyes.
Michael hardened his stare at him as he observed the changes in the manager.
'Why did he act like we had asked him to hand us the key to his bank locker… Why did he get so frightened?'
Michael wondered but he appeared to avoid the main thing that the room they wanted to access was their hotel's owner. As a mere manager like him could pass the keys, it would be indirectly calling out for their death.
While the man felt his phone vibrating, "Excuse me." The manager moved a few steps away from Michael.
He noticed that his boss had messaged him
[ Boss: If a girl 5'8 asks you for the key to my room. Give them to her without asking anything. ]
The manager was shaken as he had seen how private a type of person their Boss is and now he is ordering him to give keys to his room to a girl.
This made him muddle his head. Then he heard Michael clearing his throat. His link between his brain got disturbed.
'I can think over it later. For now, I have to deal with that giant.'
He turned around and mumbled a sorry to them, "Sir, sorry, I can't help you with this request. The room belongs to our hotel owner and it is his private room. Hope you understand my predicament."
"Could you connect us to your employer?"
Esther said in authoritative command. Michael moved his body aside and the manager's eyesight was blessed by the heavenly beauty of Esther.
The manager felt the ground under his feet sliding. His knees weakened as he took in her appearance. Never in his dreams would he have dreamt to meet his role model, his idol, Esther Ross. Her existence for him was keen to a Goddess. If possible he would worship the ground she walks on. It was Esther who gave him the motivation to live on with his life.
He had watched her interviews and her honest replies earned huge respect from him. He had a random thought wandering within himself, 'What led her to join the business world when she had rejected it before..'
The manager was determined to ask this from her but now when she stood alive and in flesh just a few steps away from him. All his senses had shut down. He can't think or organise his words. He speculated if he had been teleported to a parallel world since he found it extremely hard to open up his mouth. He felt as if he lost his voice and became mute.
He had planned how he will impress Esther and what he will do when he gets to meet his idol, however, God must hate him as at this moment he looked nothing more than an idiot. He wanted the ground to open up and swallow him.
"Are you fine?" Michael asked the manager when noticed him in a state of panic.
'Master, why do you forget the power you hold? Just a single glimpse of you can shake the life out of a normal being.'
Michael whimpered. Though no tears could be detected.
The manager stumbled upon his words, "Uh…..". Only then it struck him that the girl his boss told him through his message was his idol, Esther.
He wished to weep and blame his boss for not telling him the name of the girl otherwise he would have not made a living joke of himself that too within the presence of his role model.
"Michael."
Esther called out.
Michael sensed the building irritation radiating from his master, "Manager, I think you are suffering from fever. You look quite flustered and your cheeks have reddened due to your high body temperature. You should rest and if possible send some other person capable enough to help us."
So he attempted to help the deceived looking manager.
The manager realised the blunder he did and tried to compose himself, "I am so sorry for my incompetence and lack of focus. I am perfectly fine. And our boss had notified me to hand over the keys."
He pulled out a black glittery square sized card and passed it to Esther but Michael took it for her.
Michael thanked him.
"No need to thank us, Sir, it's our job." The manager motioned the attendant to leave from there.
The young attendant bowed, "Have a good day, Sir and Ma'am." He scurried off.
"I hope you enjoy your stay in our hotel. I won't take any more of your time and get going. Wish you a good day." The manager also left.
The floor turned eerie silent.
Michael unlocked the door using the key card. He held the door ajar for Esther. She stepped in first with him following her from behind.
