Vasili seemed to completely go into his shell after I had showed him the picture. I felt incredibly guilty for doing it, but I had promised him that I would no longer keep him in the dark. This was the best way to keep him safe.
If he knew the danger then he could choose to take whatever measures he thought were best for him. Yet as he sat on my lap completely zoned out I did not know what to do. You could try to assure someone as much as you could, but it was up to them to respond to it.
"Vasili?" I spoke softly and touched his back in attempts to bring him back to this world.
He turned his head and stared at me with the blankest expression I had ever seen. A chill went down my back as he stared deeply into my eyes as if searching for something. He breathed out heavily then pursued his lips. "I'm hungry."
That was not what I expected. "You don't want to talk about what you just saw?"
