Before I managed to get away from the concentration of titans along with the Exploration Corps, an armored hand grabbed me with terrifying speed and pulled me off my steed. It would be useless to try to cut it free from my grip, and it didn't take a genius to guess that it belonged to the Armored Titan, or rather, Reiner.

Did I panic? Not at all; I was frustrated at how my greatest enemy was taunting me for being shielded in tough armor.

He pulled me close to his face and opened his hand wide, as if displaying a valuable and delicate antique object. While I had a chance to escape, my body froze, as did my pair of eyes as I faced the love and betrayer of my life. Everything, absolutely everything, took a back seat, even the pure humanoids holding him and the galloping of the horses of the soldiers who survived so much carnage.

The perfect trigger for internal doubts, without obviating the surprise, was to appreciate how a tear escaped from his left eye. "The Armored Titan... crying? His kind annihilate without remorse... But, he is not just any titan. He is conscious of his actions."

I didn't know if I was right or wrong. On the one hand, I thought he was crying because he was sorry, and on the other, because he didn't want me to leave him. And then I was faced with three decisive options: the first was to obey the order to leave. The second was to stay with Reiner and company. And the third, which could have led me to become a traitor like them, to assassinate the pure titans to allow the passage and recapture Eren.

The sudden situation did not call for paralysis, but for action. And the one I chose would equally affect an uncertain future that was not long in coming.
